Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive 5-stars Reviews
brilliant
Using this with my Faith Saturn semi through a Marshal AS50 and getting some great dirty blues. really happy with it. buy a power supply because you will be running this pedal for hours. happy riffin'
Amazing sound.
Yes, it's cheap. Yes, it's plastic and could die of heavy gigging.
BUT!
It is easily replaceable because of the price and it sounds astonishingly similar to the original. A friend has one and we did a double blind with both and couldn't tell which is which!
Screaming!
Simple but great pedal!
Run it on the clean channel of your amp and you'll rock'n roll all day. Switch to the overdrive channel and it really encourage you to metal up your playing. ( I use a Blackstar combo with it)
The plastic casing means it won't last forever, but nothing at this pricerange does.
A whole lot of fun for a VERY reasonable price.
Perfect TS 808 Replica
Realy good Tube Screamer clone, watch the JHS video on Behringer to see what im talking about.
Great Pedal and fun
I got this pedal to compare to other pedals in this price range. This pedal is far better the most every other I have tried under 50 dollars.
Its a great grab n go that needs to always be in hands reach. 10 out of 10
Decent bit of kit
Not worried about the plastic housing as being used at home only. Having said that, the plastic case is pretty sturdy and would take some abuse............before breaking. Great pedal for the money.
A great sounding pedal!
I bought this pedal based only on YouTube reviews. And I must say I was completely blown away by its sound quality!
It's a classic "replica" of the vintage TS808, a must have in any guitarist's arsenal.
It has a great feeling overal, though a bit "plastic feel". Not sure about the overall resistance and durability, but unless you go to war with it, you should be fine.
Sounds almost exactly like the real deal!
This pedal is great! sounds almost exactly like other actual ts808s I've tried and if anything has a slightly better bass response!
The only downside is the plastic casing feels like it wont last forever but it doesn't seem difficult to re-case.
Would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for the classic TS sound and doesn't want to spend the earth
Great circuit
sounds exactly like the original. Would be perfect if they had a metal case for it but for the price cant complain
Nice Tube Screamer clone!
I wanted an overdrive to feed into the pre-amp, so I don't have to push the gain on the amp so hard, out of respect for my neighbours ;-). The YouTube videos I watched comparing this pedal to the original Ibañez Tube Screamer, convinced me to go for cheap. In those videos, there isn't really a huge difference in sound between the original and the clone. I use it with the Orange Terror Stamp and it sounds great! I really like it and would definitely recommend this overdrive! Of course it comes in the cheap plastic casing, but hey - it's 20 Euros!
It?s green :-)
Yes, it?s green, it has a T and 80 in the model name... Just missing 1 letter and one number! ;-)
What it isn?t missing is the tone of another green pedal has! This really is as close as it gets to another pedal without calling itself the same name!
Want to boost your signal? Done! Want to drive the amp a bit harder? Done! Want to really gun your amp? Done!
This does everything the rather more expensive pedal does for a fraction of the price and, really, I cannot tell much tonal difference!
Wallet friendly excellence!
Behringer is my new favourite pedal producer for sure. With this price and sound there is nothing to complain about. And if I should complain then it is the case that is made from plastic. Good news is that if that breaks then I will go to garage to make custom case!!!
The sound is really good, it's made out of plastic, but for that price?! Is a bargain
Insane value for money
I use this at home, so the fact that it's made if plastic isn't a huge deal for me.
What matters is the sound, and it's the sound of a tubescreamer and for the amount that you pay for it, this is amazing.
It's a pain to change batteries though.
Excellent sound...
...in a relatively cheap plastic case (but not worst than expected). It has the typical Tube Screamer sound at a fraction of the cost. Probably not for road use, but for home or as backup absolutely perfect.
Brilliant tone at budget price
This is my first pedal from Behringer and I’m really impressed. In terms of tone it is basically the same as the Ibanez Tube Screamer, but at a fraction of the price. The build quality is ok. I play only at home and I think the build quality is more than sufficient for home use.
I was so impressed by this pedal that I’ve begun to build up a bit of a Behringer collection. Currently the Blues Overdrive BO100 is my favourite (found one used for 10 EUR!), with the Vintage Tube Overdrive TO800 coming a very close second.
You get more than you pay for
Great sounding pedal, I use it primarily to push an overdriven amp. For this use, it sounds the same as the pedal it is based on.
Ofcourse the build quality could be better, it's plastic, but it's cheap and the sound is great.
Brilliant Tubescreamer circuit
Behringer actually manufacture the chips that are used in many perceived higher quality Tubescreamers and so on such as the Ibanez models. In effect this is a top quality circuit housed in a plastic enclosure.
In terms of gigging this pedal, I'm not sure I would risk it if I was actually using the switch - however, if you're using a loop switcher (like a Boss MS3 or the Harley Benton StompControl), you won't need to worry about this. To be honest it may not even be an issue, just perception wise at least a metal enclosure should be more reliable?
I've got/had many other tubescreamers and while many have their quirks and added features, the main core sound remains pretty consistent, so if you're looking to dip your toe in the Tubescreamer world, or are just looking for a pedal that can give you that extra bit of drive and mid boost, the TO800 is a great choice, especially at this price point!
perfect for TubeScreamer for beginners or home use
The sound in this is really good. I mean, really good! As the casing is in plastic, I would probably not recumbent it for a giving guitarist, but on te other side; you can buy 4 spares and still save money from the original. But for home use, bed room practice etc it is killer. What separates this from a TS808 or TS9 would be the quality of the case. But then again those cost 5-10 more.
Perfectly Warm!!!
This pedal is just what I needed and more. Cheap and affordable but not lacking in quality. Worth the purchase and essential to my set-up.
