Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive 5-stars Reviews
Blindfolded, it's a TS808
I had an original tube screamer on loan for a recording project and I loved the sound I got from it, but had to give it back. Came across a YouTube video by JHS Pedals comparing Behringer pedals to the originals, so I went ahead and bought a few different models.
None of them have disappointed, but this little dude is used almost everyday. Highly recommended, the only reason for knocking off a quality star is that I would be concerned the plastic case may not be best suited for continuous live stage abuse (e.g. being kicked across the stage every night), however at the price at least replacing it won't break the bank. Great pedal, great price.
Zuivere overdrive, met wat '70 erbij. Mooie korrel.
Can't argue with the price and sounds great!
Very affordable, casing is probably more fragile than more expensive pedals as a result, but sounds great.
Beast Mode (with its orange sibling)
I'm pairing this with the SF300 fuzz pedal to give my analogue monosynth a bit of oomph and plenty of bite.
As others have commented, the build quality is neither here nor there - I don't run these off batteries, yes the case is plastic, yes I'll likely replace the switch with something more tactile - but I am using it as a "desktop pedal", if you will.
For that, whether inserted directly in the signal chain or, for a more subtle bite, in a parallel configuration, this little box delivers the tone! I have no "green magic box" to compare it to, but that's not the point: if you want the tone of one particular box, get that box. If you want to rough up your sound, get anything that roughs it up in a way that pleases your ears! Simple.
As always with this kind of gear, protect your ears, protect your speakers.
No complaints
In an A/B comparison with an Ibanez mini tube screamer neither I nor my guitarrist could tell a difference
Sounds like a TS808
Sounds as it should. Does the zero gain amp boost/tightening trick just as you expect. Also a good all round OD. Just like an 808. So far mine it totally reliable but it is only used in a home studio setting. Would buy it again.
Great sound for cheap
Didn't want to splash for an expensive pedal. Bought this to dirty up my telecaster and I love it
Why wait?
In my guitar journey I was put off using a TS as there were so many strat/blues players using them and that was not the sound I was going for. However, after trying a T-Rex Moller II (superb) I was converted.
This Behringer is as good as any TS I have tried/purchased.
I use it mainly as a boost (level up, gain down) into amps (mostly Marshall) on the edge of breakup. Stick it in front of a cranked JCM800 for "those" tones. Yes it is plastic and therefore is a "FX Pedal", not a "Stomp Box". With a pedal switcher/looper, it's a no-brainer.
Comparable with units 10x the price of this one
One of the best overdrive units I own, that says it all. Sounds like a real screamer to me, no need to buy an authentic one ;)
Cheap, as good as a "real" tubescreamer
Its sounds really good for the price, i've been using behinger pedals for a long time , still haven't encountered any reliability problems
Excellent overdrive
Tightens up high gain amp distortion very well.
Plastic casing not the best but works perfectly
Goede tubescreamer clone
Doet wat het moet doen..
Great first Overdrive pedal, Subtle classic sound
Got this as part of my beginner pedal board setup, its lovely design especially for the price, the plastic body is fine and strong, not really plastic, but ABS which is super strong impact resistant. Gives a nice boost and sustain, creamy sound like a Ibanez tube screamer type. Just don't use it with little modelling amps, it will over power their speakers, 20w and up itsreally good.
A legendary circuit
In a cheap box! Does it well. I like it. Must have if you want all the legendary pedals. Plastic is sturdy. No problem. Try it, enjoy it. If you don't like it... No harm done. Wallet will survive.
Great overdrive.. Great price!
Loud, crunchy, punchy. Goes well with my mustang90.
Get Tube / Valve Type Sound Cheaply
This pedal is able to achieve sounds that are very close to the well known green pedal by a large brand name that has been used by many famous guitarists over the years ..... but you don't have to pay a large amount of money to get this sound. I play mostly rock blues style, so I do not need heavy metal distortion. This pedal offers mild rich overdrive through to fairly heavily overdriven sounds with a very valve-like feel, and it responds very well to the volume control in the guitar.
It is THE Green Magic Box
Tested side by side with the Original...
It's not just another green box....
It is THE Green Magic Box.... in a plastic shell. Nothing more, nothing less
Was super impressed.
I was pleasantly surprised at how well I got used to the overdrive sound of this budget friendly pedal. Was my very first pedal but I know enough to understand that the quality of this is punching way above it's price point.
Awesome Value!
The Behringer TO800 Vintage Tube Overdrive Effect Pedal does an excellent job of emulating the Ibanez TS808 Vintage Tube Screamer pedal. It works and sounds like you'd expect. It's a great value for money product.
