Very good but not totally blown away

OK, so these are definitely the best headphones I've used.

I wasn't absolutely blown away but I had high expectations and they are far better (in that you can hear more detail) than my 200W floor standing speakers (to give you some idea!). I know comparing headphones to speakers is daft but you can certainly hear far more detail and clarity with the headphones.

You can't really go wrong for the price. I expect there are headphones 2 or 3 times the price that might be better but I'm very happy with my purchase. Primary use is recording but will also listen to music.

I will definitely get couple more!

No wonder it is widely used, I wanted to give it a try and loved it! I'm planning to get 990 version as well for mastering. This headphone is strictly for critical listening, however, not for pleasure... You will need an amplifier to run this headphone or your audio interface must support it, go check that out!

I can hear the separation of instruments well and bass response is the best I've heard so far.

One con is perhaps the cable being hard-wired to the headphone's chassis, I wish they had made it removable!

Headphones for all uses

Just needed a pair of headphones for when not using the main monitors (quick checkings, frequent sweeps for ear cleaning, working with audio at night, etc.). The comfort on those is amazing, feels heavy, but while wearing are not. I have not any problem on wearing those for hours, and the audio, pairing with a good headphone amp, is amazing.

I like the spiral cable because its harder to get tangled on me or on any other objects laying around, but you can't really go 3 meters away with it.

Pads are very comfy and soundproof (its also close back, so no audio escaping), so these headphones are also good for tracking. I will totally try and the 990 model, because it's open back, and has more room to breath with lower freqs, but for now, I'm good with 770.

Rich sound

Wonderful headphone - quite a while in use now.

Soft around the ears and well padded on top of my head.

Deep bass sounds, clear midrange and high frequencies.

Typical usage: electronic piano & synths.

Professional Standard

Professional headphone for professional use. Sturdy, well-built and extremely (I mean extremely) comfortable. You can easily spend hours working with it in (of course taking some breaks every now and then to preserve your ears). It's a legend with a completely flat response. Suits really good for monitoring mixes. A must have for every mixing engineer and music professional.

Blown away by these headphones for the price

I was looking for some great quality headphones precisely for more effective mixing and mastering, something that gave a "transparent" sound. But didn't have quite the budget to spend on higher end ones. Luckily I found these and they're wonderful, they are comfortable and rest nicely. You can wear them for hours straight without them being uncomfortable as well as the strap is adjustable. All around these are worth every penny, I would recommend them to anyone.

Best headphones for recording

For me, these are the best headphones for recording. Very comfortable, they go over your ears, so your ears don't start to hurt after wearing them for a long periods of time. The sound at first is a little bit too hyped, but it gets better when they wear in. They offer a great detail, so you can also use them for referencing.

Over all, these are very popular headphones, you'll see them in almost every studio, from home studios to professional studios. There's also not a lot of leakage because of the closed design. Also very well built and affordable!

exceptional headphones for a good price

The best thing about these, besides the sound quality, is the comfort. I don't feel tired after 8h sitting in these. Adjustable, with exchangable parts -- highly recommended. I also tried 990 my friend owns, feel great as well!

Most neutral of the three DT-770s

I have all three version of the DT-770: the 80-ohm, the 250-ohm and the 32-ohm. That last one sounds different enough from the other ones that it really shouldn't be marketed under the same name, IMO.

The 80-ohm has the most bass out of all of them, but not boomy, and is overall the smoothest-sounding. It is currently my favourite and I use it as my main reference. (I think that if you're used to a particular sound and know what music is "supposed to" sound like through those headphones or speakers, then you can use that as a mixing reference.) The only thing is that I don't use the 80-ohm for tracking, especially not bass instruments, because the bass gets a bit too much.

Enter the 250-ohm. It has a bit less bass and sounds tighter than the 80. Otherwise almost the same overall sound. I use this for tracking.

The 32-ohm sound much different. It has more mids, harsher highs, and way less bass than the other two. I find it quite unlistenable most of the time. I'm sure it has some good uses, but I really think it should be marketed under a different name (not as a DT-770 variant), as the sound signature is that different.

wow

I use these to record, mix and master records and youtube videos, They've affected mixes so much that I create much better mixes than I've ever done before

In listening to music i thought i knew inside and out i can hear so many more little details.

They do require a little bit more power to drive than conventional headphones, (which is states just about everywhere)

I find that my Scarlett 2i2 is great for the job, there's enough power there :)

I can actually use them on my phone in quiet environments but i wouldn't recommend trying it on the go!

Splendid performance and quality for such a good price!

Connected to a Scarlett USB Audio interface, this Studio Headphones are so good. Clarity and accuracy, those are the most important things to me when I compose neo-classical music. This is really cool to do the mixing process. The sound is detailed. Good step up on this process.

It's the most popular headphones, and it is legit.

Beyerdynamic made it really robust. The whole steel thing looks pretty solid and impossible to break. But it is flexible. I wear glasses, I don't feel any pain after hours of work.

Well, for 150$, this is worth a try ;)

I would only get the DT1770 to replace it someday!
