I couldn't do without the 990 and the 770. They've been my go-to cans for many years. They're superbly comfortable, sound great and seem to last forever, even when handled roughly. I find them essential to have.

The most solid pair of headphones I ever owned

Clear sound, expansive sound stage and great comfort.

The Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro headphones provide great value for music production and media consumption with their clear and defined sound. They aren't the most accurate headphones I've ever used, but they sure are top-of-the-line, especially for their price. A solid bang for the buck and a real all-rounder.

The velours ear pads are soft and comfortable, but they flatten rather quickly. Switching them out at least yearly is recommended and the fact that parts are readily and quickly available from the manufacturer makes that almost a breeze, even if the actual replacement is slightly tricky to do.

(Nur zur historie: Hatte dieses modell schon seit etwa 20 jahren. Dann ist das teil plötzlich im sound dumpf und lauter geworden und war nicht mehr brauchbar).

Die message hier ist aber der super sound und tragekomfort des DT990 Pro. Der neue bringt das selbstverständlich! Zum mixen im studio perfekt, oder einfach zum musikhören. Alle 20 jahre 129 € für einen top kopfhörer ausgeben wäre wirklich okay! Mit dem super frequenzgang brauche ich auch auf keinen fall einen subwoofer, um den mix nach unten hin zu verifizieren. Meine ADAM monitorboxen mit 6 inch basstönern machen den rest super.

The best open headphones

My ears are comfortable in them.

Surprisingly, my phone shakes them well. There is enough volume reserve, there are no complaints about the sound.

It interferes with the fact that the cable cannot be disconnected and inserted straight. I would change them from time to time.

MAIN - In my opinion, there are too sharp high frequencies and a sharp upper middle. I couldn’t smooth them out with an equalizer, so I would like it.

They do not play sub-bass even if you add it with an equalizer. For example, in Fostex bass sounds full.

ps I would buy 900proX, but there are already ear pads (the manufacturer ruined what was achieved in 990 pro)

I measured and listened to a lot of headphones.

And I can say that my favorite headphones are Shure 840 and Fostex T60RP.

Fantastic headphones for the price

You can't really wish for more in this price range. They're sturdy, comfortable and offer great audio quality. The reason I gave them 4 stars for sound instead of 5 is their not so flat frequency response but this is easily fixed with corrective EQ or a program like Sonarworks Reference. Bear in mind that your soundcard should have a substantial output level. I had to turn the headphone output level of my Focusrite Scarlett almost to 100% in order to get a decent volume level.

Headphones are really good. The ones I got sent, not so good.

A few months back I ordered these, and at first it was all good. It's when a month later I bought a decent sound card to drive these, and noticed that on higher volumes that I was now able to reach, there was a vibration on the left driver. I researched a little bit and came to the conclusion that it was a hair stuck inside that could easily be blown out of the speaker with gentle air. It wasn't. I examined the driver from the outside and to my surprise, I was sent a pair of headphones that had been open! The screws were all stripped, so I was given some "used" or "repaired" headphones and the product information clearly says it's new! This is extremely disappointing and I'm waiting a reply on the RMA. Please make sure you're not sent the faulty headphones before the 30-day money back passes! I need good headphones for producing and now I'm stuck with these and down 130€!!!

Just a dream

This headphone is amazing! The sound quality is fantastic and it allows you to hear your surroundings which is supernice. A minor letdown maybe is that you get a kind of crappy bag with it to store it in. Would like something of a little higher quality for the headphones I love.

Lovely

Great option for sound design, tried it in music production and they make it sound bit shallow, but still amazing. Spectrum is neutral for me both lows and highs sound clear.

The best on the market!!

I bought these headphones in back in 2019. Happy to say that they're still going strong 3 years later!! Comfortability is great and super pristine sound. No complains here.

The only comment have is that I wish they had made a detachable cable from the headphone like the 1990 pro series. No biggie, just a personal preference.

I recommend these for anyone who's looking for quality headphones for studio quality mixing.

Good but...

I bought the Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro as my third option to reference my mix and also work with my music at night. I produce Techno and Electronic music mainly.

The comfort with this headphones are amazing, you can literally work with them for hours without fatigue, in a sense that you forget wearing headphones.

The quality is decent close to high quality standards in that range of price. The headphones are light and not heavy because of the plastic material, the only metallic piece is the one which connect them to the head holder. The downside of the quality/build for me was the cable which is not removable.

The sound is overall unbalanced!!

The low frequencies are round, warm and pleasant to listen but they lack clear definition and makes it difficult to mix.

Mid frequencies are decent like the bass clear but colourful and they are getting shadowed from the high frequencies which is the main problem with this headphones.

The high frequencies are enormous high, harsh, metallic and you can literally have fatigue despite the comfort the build is giving you.

A no go for mixing.

A small yes for listening but you might need to look for headphones amplifier and do some eq before listening to any music.

Good Set of Headphones

They sound great, After applying some EQ (personally), the sound is very clear, you can very easily distinguish between different instruments and i find they will be useful for many applications.

Without EQ they are lacking in low end a little bit however and the ear pads currently are a bit stiff due to them being new, However i know from experience they are going to get softer and more comfortable as i use them.

I wish they were slightly deeper and or having the inside profiled for my ears as they touch the end, the material is soft so they dont feel uncomfortable and when i don't remind myself of it i forget about it.

Love them, for a £110 its a great deal and a good set of headphones

Must have

Most know headphones for mixing and mastering. Deep bass and good Highs. Cant say anythink bad about them.
