beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro Reviews
very comfortable to wear and its not a noice cancellation headphones
Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro - for an amateur
liked:
high-frequency sound detail
I didn't like it:
high level of sounds in the high frequency region, it cuts the ear - there is a desire to crush the equalizer, which I do not accept.
Against the background of high frequencies, it seems that there is not enough bass and midrange, but this is not so - just a lot of highs.
I used amplifiers for the test:
- DAC + TPA6120 - Lots of sharpness in the Upper frequencies
- Pioneer VSX-919 - a little better result - no sharpness of the upper frequencies.
- JVC A-X40 - A good result is a balanced sound
Conclusion:
- Listen before purchasing on your own equipment - which is impossible (
- Need a special amplifier for a load of 250 ohms
- beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro - for an amateur
P.S. DT-990 Pro Disappointed, I will try the HD 560S
All band in my head
This headphones has more less bass response but comes with extra detail. I listen and mix metal music. Its work fine for me. Every instrument is clearly heard.
You should use realy powered interface or headphone amp for it.
its not exactly what you expect
be aware of the ohms is my first suggestion.
however those arent nice for music listening those are for monitoring and maybe to check your mixes after you done it with a monitors to add and refine details.
Great quality for a fab price!
Where to begin? These headphones are an industry standard for a reason. The build and audio quality are of a very high standard given then low price point, and while they can be uncomfortable on the ears after many straight hours of making music, I have yet to find a pair of headphones that don't. As monitors, they do a fantastic job, and can definitely work as normal headphones. If you're looking for a home studio setup, you can't go wrong with these :)
Fantastic pair of headphones
This is a great pair of headphones with excellent sound quality especially when considering the price, comfort wise they are a bit tight around the head and also a bit heavy, but this is something one could easily get used to, the felt ear-cups are very nice and will likely last a long time, and the telephone-style cable prevents tangling. It's also important to note that given their high impedance you will have to pair them with an amplifier, personally, I use a Fiio e10k and it works wonderfully and makes for a solid budget option.
Overall, this is probably one of the best headphones you could buy and for €130 they're an absolute steal.
Everyone told me to buy those and I am not disappointed!
I am very new to recording my own music and I needed some headphones for creating songs at home. When I was looking for headphones for this purpose I asked around and got recommended beyerdynamic. I decided to buy the DT 990 PRO and I am very happy with my choice!
The sound is very clean and balanced and when I listened to song that I know very well, I could hear things which I never noticed before which was a very nice experience!
For my head the headphones are a little big but they still are very comfortable even when I wear them for many hours. I really like the very soft inside. Only negative point would be that the cable is quite heavy and can be in the way when dancing ;-)
Beautiful sounding , Grate for mixing down your track. 10 /10
Quality studio headpones
Absolutely killer open-headphones for the price. Great that it comes with 6.3mm adapter which has come in handy many times even beyond the headphones. My only gripe is perhaps the rigidity of the cushions along with the big round shape which means that the headphones don't completely cup my ears, but that does not take away from the sound at all.
The best headphones I've ever had
I've had a lot of headphones. These stand out from the rest in every way. The comfort of these headphones is unsurpassed. The sound quality is immense,
The only thing I would change on these headphones is the cable, which is unremovable. It would make it much more portable and easier to store were the cable removable. But that's nit picking.
Very good
The headphones are very well built. The cushions are very soft and comfortable. The 250 ohm resistance was fine and worked well with my predator helios 300 laptop and with my behringer umc202hd audio interface. Overall very pleased with the product and what i paid for them
Astoundingly Good
The first time I used them to work on a track, it was late at night and I had no option to mix on the monitors, so I figured I'd do what I could with the arrangement and then fix the shortcomings in the mix on the monitors the next day.
The next day, there **were** no shortcomings in the mix and I wasted a lot of time muting and soloi-ng sounds to try and track down where I'd got the balance wrong the previous evening, because they were so well mixed that I couldn't tell if the reason I couldn't pick them out from the others was because they were perfectly balanced or because one of them was too quiet/loud (they all just blended so seamlessly that certain sounds were only what they were because the whole was greater than the sum of the parts)..
I use Yamaha HS8 monitors so, if there's anything wrong with a mix, I'm **going** to hear it: I got them precisely **because** they're so unforgiving (if you can make your mix sound good on them, it won't simply sound good on anything but **everything** else).. So that gives you some idea of the performance of the DT 990 Pros!
The only negative concerns comfort: after a couple of hours, they definitely feel a bit tight below the ear and no amount of repositioning (or even loosening) changes that. After a couple of hours it's more than time to give your ears a rest anyway, but the DT 990 Pros aren't any more comfortable when you put them back on an hour later - something about the grip just has a lasting impact, it seems. They're not painful to wear for long periods and the discomfort is only a minor irritation, but you might notice some nevertheless.
For the price, therefore, some minor discomfort after prolonged use aside, the DT 990 Pro headphones are astounding; I expected them to be okay, workmanlike and 'good enough', but nowhere near as good as they are - not only would but will buy again.
Great headphones
Pros: Great soundstage, comfortable.
Cons: A bit too much 10k, and a bit muddy.
I am using them with Sonarworks and like them very much.
Good fo general listening & tracking
nice headphones for listening & tracking but the Low end is a bit too boosted & coloured for mixing or any overseriously full bandwidth work.
Comfy gloves for your ears
I'm not a headphones experienced guy, but I do wear them for 8-12h sessions.
And these, compared to the
hd668b (which don't fit my head) light over ears like koss portapro or senheiser hd100, are so much confier
I just hope this velour pads won't get to hot for summer.
Pros:
Very comfortable
Cons:
Not the best sound in this price range
No removable cable
Super-Awesome for everyday-use
Pros: No problems at all, connector is working fine even though being used heavily (also dog apparently wanted to listen sth with these and have dropped these down several times), super-comfortable ear pads (at least for me) and those can also be replaced with new-ones if necessary.
Cons: Treble-tones (high-tones) are a little worn after a couple of years of use. Not the best ones for reference-headphone-use after heavy use.

Good Head Phone For mixing , Realy Good Sound , Clean and Warm
Amazing sound
These have given me a whole new perspective on listening to music. Really light on my head and ears, i paired this with a X3 soundblaster amp. Cant believe I didn't do this years ago.
First in first I tried them for mixing and ... sorry Bayedynamic, but they are absolutely unbalanced in region of "S" sounds (5-8 kHz), so sounds to harsh and prickly in this area. Low frequecies are strong and little undetailed. Stereo scene is not as big as in AKG k702, but still big enough to listen to music of any genre.
DT990 is a very good headphone in this price range and their popularity is absolutely understandable, but for mixing/mastering ... they are far away from reference type of headphone.
For any other purpose U can find frequency response they reproduce is fantastic, so just try it and judge them in Urself!
