The most solid pair of headphones I ever owned

Clear sound, expansive sound stage and great comfort.

The Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro headphones provide great value for music production and media consumption with their clear and defined sound. They aren't the most accurate headphones I've ever used, but they sure are top-of-the-line, especially for their price. A solid bang for the buck and a real all-rounder.

The velours ear pads are soft and comfortable, but they flatten rather quickly. Switching them out at least yearly is recommended and the fact that parts are readily and quickly available from the manufacturer makes that almost a breeze, even if the actual replacement is slightly tricky to do.

Schon seit jahren mein top kopfhörer im studio

(Nur zur historie: Hatte dieses modell schon seit etwa 20 jahren. Dann ist das teil plötzlich im sound dumpf und lauter geworden und war nicht mehr brauchbar).

Die message hier ist aber der super sound und tragekomfort des DT990 Pro. Der neue bringt das selbstverständlich! Zum mixen im studio perfekt, oder einfach zum musikhören. Alle 20 jahre 129 € für einen top kopfhörer ausgeben wäre wirklich okay! Mit dem super frequenzgang brauche ich auch auf keinen fall einen subwoofer, um den mix nach unten hin zu verifizieren. Meine ADAM monitorboxen mit 6 inch basstönern machen den rest super.

Fantastic headphones for the price

You can't really wish for more in this price range. They're sturdy, comfortable and offer great audio quality. The reason I gave them 4 stars for sound instead of 5 is their not so flat frequency response but this is easily fixed with corrective EQ or a program like Sonarworks Reference. Bear in mind that your soundcard should have a substantial output level. I had to turn the headphone output level of my Focusrite Scarlett almost to 100% in order to get a decent volume level.

Great headphones for mixing tracks. They more clearly convey bass and high frequencies.

Great option for sound design, tried it in music production and they make it sound bit shallow, but still amazing. Spectrum is neutral for me both lows and highs sound clear.

The best on the market!!

I bought these headphones in back in 2019. Happy to say that they're still going strong 3 years later!! Comfortability is great and super pristine sound. No complains here.

The only comment have is that I wish they had made a detachable cable from the headphone like the 1990 pro series. No biggie, just a personal preference.

I recommend these for anyone who's looking for quality headphones for studio quality mixing.

Good Set of Headphones

They sound great, After applying some EQ (personally), the sound is very clear, you can very easily distinguish between different instruments and i find they will be useful for many applications.

Without EQ they are lacking in low end a little bit however and the ear pads currently are a bit stiff due to them being new, However i know from experience they are going to get softer and more comfortable as i use them.

I wish they were slightly deeper and or having the inside profiled for my ears as they touch the end, the material is soft so they dont feel uncomfortable and when i don't remind myself of it i forget about it.

Love them, for a £110 its a great deal and a good set of headphones

Must have

Most know headphones for mixing and mastering. Deep bass and good Highs. Cant say anythink bad about them.

Sound : Super critical perfect for mixing. only downside is you will hear it if your music is sh*t :)

Comfort : Pretty light and comfortable only the round cups do not fit my ears well.

Quality : Even though its plastic it has great build quality. Its not flimsy at all pretty solid

Overall : Amazing for the price point you cannot find a better headphone for critical listening and mixing in this price point in my humble opinion

These headphones have very good and crisp sound, in terms of price to quality nothing can beat them. They are solid and durable. The only drawback is that headband is a tight, it's not so bad but definitely not the most comfy headphones if you intend to use them all day long.

The first time I can mix in the headphones

I also have the Audio-Technica ATH-M50 X headphones. Their sound was very harsh for me on the highs. The Beyerdynamic DT-990 Pro it's perfect for me and it's sounds just like the speakers I mix on. Very happy with the purchase.

Great headphones for mixing

I use these beats for both production and mixing. The bass isnt great on these headphones so if you are used to a lot of hard hitting 808s these are not for you. These are more of that professional sound

Beyond Expectation

I purchased the headphones recently, and it's beyond my expectations. It has a very clean and clear flat frequency response, therefore I would highly recommend it for Mixing and Mastering.

Great playback sound and comfortable to wear!

I've purchased these headphones because I wanted a pair of open backs specifically for mixing. The sound is great and you can great mixes especially when comparing with the references.

Super comfy and clear sound

I bought these for mixing and mastering, having had the 770s for recording use in the studio for a few years. The 990s are just as comfy and can wear them for hours on end without getting tired ears. The sound is also super clear with tonnes of detail. They are on the aggressive side for higher range frequencies, but for me that gives good clarity when mixing. They offer an alternative sound perspective to the studio monitors i'm using, letting me fine tune in particular the overall soundscape and small details of a track. For the purposes of getting a your mix right these would be a great addition to any studio.

Ideal headphones for mixing/mastering/music production

The sound is crystalline clear, even the slightest change of EQ/comp settings are distinctively heard. Would definitely recommend for a home studio, but should be used with a powerful audio interface.

On the other hand, they are not so good for recording, because of the spill into the microphone from the open-back ears.

Amazing for gaming and music

I bought these to game and for my music setup (guitar/piano) .

I love the comfort of the headphones, i never have to take them off and they sound amazing.

Great sound and build for the money, but unfortunately too bright

These headphones are very light, airy and comfortable. Build feels very sturdy, but not too "premium" to the touch and general handling.

Please note as sound is very subjective, take my opinion with a grain of salt

Soundwise it is for sure V-shaped and very bright (confirmed by a few family members and friends who tried them).

Soundstage is great, but a bit confusing compared to the DT 900 Pro X, which has a smaller soundstage, but still better detail/imaging.

For studio work however these can really show when mixes gets too bright... but honestly I would prefer the "flatter" overall frequency response, better bass extension, general detail and precision of the DT 900 Pro X, at least for critical work.

Also, tried both headphones with Sonarworks frequency response correction software and 900 Pro X, again, gave better results. Both headphones take EQ very well.

For gaming these are great and way better than a lot of gaming headsets, but its harder to pinpoint sounds in space as the pricier 900 Pro X

I would definitely recommend this product, but in my opinion DT 900 Pro X is better choice in almost every aspect (especially for studio), except soundstage, weight and double the price, but you should seriously give it a try.
