After living with this mic for a couple of years, have to say seems to be holding up very well, and have had no issues with it. Was surprised to see a loudspeaker manufacturer using this microphone (admittedly an array of 10 of them) over a more expensive b an k option during some beta test work, and have been using this in combination with Systune to tune, and monitor audio systems performance and sol during several tours. The mic is reliable and rugged, and hasn't measurably changed it response since purchase. Think, as well as reference work, a single or two would make fabulous flat frequency room mics as the omni pattern and the flat response might get a very interesting view of the room

This software does not negate the need for some room treatment at least in my case. My experience was also confounded by balancing in a sub woofer as well as measuring the mains. I'm using two Focal shape twins and a Focal Sub 6. My room is not perfectly treated but has some treatment including some bass traps. Deviations from 300hz to 20Khz were less than 3db. The major deviations were from 50hz to 100hz. One configuration when measured produced a 12db hump in the lower region. This software did not do well with taming that hump. Once I got the bottom end to within 6db of flat the software did a wonderful job of producing a very true sound in the room. I bought this together with the dbx DriveRack PA2 to use the AutoEQ function and the built-in RTA of the PA2. I haven't used the microhpone in any other applications but for use with the PA2 it's exactly what I expect. The PA2 also has a separate setting for this particular microphone to flatten the measurement response even further, so it was the natural choice for best performance in the application used. The included case feels cheap and is made of plastic but it has so much foam in it to protect the microphone that breaking the mic inside its case by normal gig handling will be very hard.

I have bought this with an intention to use with Sonarworks Reference software. Sonarworks asked me for the calibration profile and I couldn't find any for this mic so I skipped the step and was doubting it's accuracy. I've performed my measurements, put it on shelf and forgot about it. Later I had a chance to test a genuine Sonarworks mic with most accuracy and I performed the same test with ECM999 just after that. After comparing the results I can say this one's definitely worth it's money: I don't remember clearly but I won't lie if I say that in my room the differences would be no more than +-1.5 dB across mids and higs while lower frequencies would be almost identical. The MM1 is built quite lovely, but the OD of ~9.3mm in my case is a bit impractical as most calibrators use 1/4in or 1/2in, but there are adapters available. Not here, though. The microphone has some additional gain at high frequencies, one can call it diffuse-field equalized. This is easily "solved" for free-field measurements with the correction curves from beyerdynamic, which you get by emailing them. Keep in mind they might take their time, so do it as soon as you receive your MM1.

I firstly purchased the KH80’s and initially set them up using the iPad’s Neumann alignment app. However, I kept reading more and more reviews raving about the MA1 mic and decided to check it out for myself. Wow…is all I can say, the difference was night and day!! It was was amazing how it improved these already great speakers. I do already have some acoustic treatment in my room, but I immediately was able to hear an improvement after the alignment and therefore highly recommend this mic. It is my hope to purchase the KH750 sub next!

As a calibration microphone, it is an affordable microphone in terms of price performance. but don't expect a microphone-specific calibration file or a document. because these microphones are uniformly fabricated products. there are no special calibration files. Naturally, it does not come with a calibration file. For this reason, do not waste time searching for calibration files on the internet. Because these reports are specific to the microphone. When you add this file to the measurement program, the program analyzes the measurement made with your microphone according to this calibration file. I use this microphone both to record and to equalize speakers with to eliminate peaks caused by resonances (both by rooms and by speaker cabs). I've recorded some concerts and used it to record drums as a overhang microphone, for this it did sound absolutely accurate and nice, which is a good thing, as you're able to record it, sounding as realistically as possible, in my opinion atleast. I've also used it to tune speakers for specific locations (because sometimes certain frequencies get boosted quite a bit, and to get it to sound as flat as possible), where it, again, in my opinion, absolutely does a good job. Clarity: I've absolutely got nothing to complain about, the fact it does only reach up to 18kHz isn't that much of a big deal to me as it's still a great sounding microphone...

Le micro fontionne, est bien omnidirectionnel, a une réponse en fréquence très plate, son bruit de fond est suffisamment bas. J'adore particulièrement la boîte avec laquelle il est livré, très pratique pour transporter le micro en toute sérénité. Je l'ai même customisée avec de la mousse prédécoupée pour pouvoir y mettre aussi un akg D5, mon micro habituel pour le talkback. En prime, vous avez un micro supplémentaire pour enregistrer des guitares, cymbales, avec un timbre très naturel.
