Boss ME-80 5-stars Reviews
lovely
exactly what you'd imagine it is
Great all around, very versatile sounds and a lot of fun.
Great value and fully-functioned
I have used this unit solidly for three years, for rehearsals and gigging, and it is the only one you'll need. The effects are first-rate, as you'd expect from Boss, and the value is remarkable comparing to the separate cost of each effect.
PRO's: The unit is small, light, and the battery backup feature is very useful. The knobs are easy to see and use, and so much quicker to adjust than stepping through menus (which you can still do if you must). Very robust construction. Great effects with very low noise. Everything you'll ever need. Loads of patches to be found on the web. You can save your own to your computer. But the preset ones cover 90% of what you'll need.
CON's: The only things I don't like is that you must use a separate plugpack, and that the upper row of switches can be tricky to use without standing on something else. It is just a little cramped, but you can always use a separate MIDI controller if this is a problem.
Great unit
Happy with the purchase, sturdy unit, sounds are very good, buy it.
Very versatile piece of equipment.
All in all, very good product. Impressed with the quality of sound for the money. The only small let down is that there was potentially room available to have the pedals spaced out a bit more which would have been handy. The turn on/opff button could have been placed in a better location. But not a big let down compare to the capabilities of this unit.
great product
absolutely love it.
Easy to use, sounds great, i dont even store patches, just go through the knobs on manual mode , its like having a rack of separate pedals but in a compact format.
the greatest idea ever!
excellent choice
I've owned different pedals, but for last few years I've played guitar-straight-to-amp and haven't bothered myself with pedalboards. I had never owned a multi-fx before, although I had tried few zoom units which some friends had years ago and those couldn't impress me as they were lagging and I couldn't find a good tone. Anyway, as technology develops, I decided to give it one more try and was torn choosing between HD500X, GT-100 and ME-80 (yes, there's GT-1000, Helix etc, but that's in another price range). Unfortunately any of those units were not available to try in local store so I had to decide only by the price and reviews. I started with ME-80, because it seemed almost the thing what I want. It's with lot of knobs, so I can modify the sound quickly and easily without going into deep menus. I thought if I'm not satisfied with it, I can always return it and try HD500X or GT-100, but after messing it for a while, I decided to keep it. It has every effect I ever need and they all work brilliantly (tera echo is absolutely amazing). It's also good that some effects can be used under several sections (chorus, phaser, boost, delays etc) and it's possible to turn them off and on together with saved patches. I use memory mode and manual mode both and getting to switch between them and edit them on the go, is something I really need. There are few cons of course as well. It took some time to dial high gain sound and what I finally found is fairly okay. I'm still on the search for better one, but I'm sure it's there. If not, I can just connect it to loop and use amp channels instead. Other con is that it doesn't have ext loop, it's possible to use it only in front of an amp, in amp loop (using amp channels for gain) or connect it directly to amp loop. But 4 cable method is not possible. Wah is bit sterile, looper is only 38 seconds and loop patch can't be stored. But probably all this is bit too much to ask for a fx-unit for this price.
If you need alot of different effects and buying each separate pedal for that will break the bank, then this is certainly a unit worth to try. You'll have most of BOSS effect pedals just by your feet which all sound amazing.
Highly recommended!
Beautiful piece of gear! Well built by Boss... with a great sound and very easy to use!
Use
The most powerful sound I have ever had.
Easy to adjust and complete software to precise the music.
You can play music as Tchaikovsky - "Swan Lake" or DT - "Constant motions" or PF - "Sorrow".
Amazing device.
Intuitive, Easy to Navigate, Great Value.
Firstly, I would say ditch ,most of the factory presets and create your own sounds! Clearly they are for demonstrative purposes and not generally for real world use! The amount of tones and effects you can access is only limited by your own imagination or input, once you get to grips with how it works, (and that doesn’t take long), you can set the sounds you want for your needs. Great for home recording and home rehearsal as the headphone input means you can set sounds without annoying the neighbors. For gigging some tweaking is required as you would expect as when you add amps and volume the dynamics change but no big problem. The unit is useful as it can be easily carried around unlike a huge pedal board and can be D/I’d to a PA when you don’t have access or room to carry an amp, the amp modeling works pretty good. Overall a great buy, I would say! I use it in stereo and the delays and modulation effects really come to life!
Great for the price
Easy to use, solid like a rock...I use it mostly with a NYLON strings electro ac guitar and most of effects are working nicely...Even distortion is usable for giging if well set and not used constantly..Of course it s not like a synth but it does the trick...
It was rocking by -10 or + 40 degrees C and never let me down over the past 50/60 gigs and hours of practise...
Reverb was not the best so i bought a separate one after few months...
Switching from one patch to an other still has a slight blank between, not good if u are looping stuff, otherwise does the job...
I would definitely buy it again....The setereo output is a bonus specialy for delays...
Worth The Price
It may seem pricey, but with all you're getting, it's really not.
Pros:
+Versatile range and quality of effects
+Uses full analog controls/knobs for tweaking to your desired setup
+It can run on x6AA batteries
+You can switch to presets or manual mode
+Has a headphone jack, which is convenient if you can't play with an amp or don't have one
+has a USB interface, which you can also use to download more patches (preset effects settings)
+Allows recording on the fly of your playing and playing it back for accompaniment
+Has an integrated tuner
Cons:
-Does not include an AC power adaptor (although they include some disposable batteries)
Love this!!!!
Thank you for the great service! i REALLY appreciate the Awesome service and the prices are really Amazing!!!!! I would recommend this site to anyone. Keep up the Great service and Passion for music.ALSO THE PEDALS IS GREAT..EASILY TO USE ALL THE SOUNDS....EXCELLENT FOR PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS AND EVEN FOR THOSE STARTING OUT. DIDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS AND ECEN THOUGH I DONT HAVE A GREAT GUITAR, STILL SOUNDS AWESOME !!!!!!!!
Best retro (back to basics) guitar multi-fx!!
I've chosen Boss ME-80 for a main simple reason: You can edit everything you like with physical knobs on panel! That's it! No hidden screen menus! Is that simple and straightforth!!
Aside this, is a high quallity guitar multi effects unit!
So, let's see the main pros & cons:
Pros:
Hands on operation (back to basics!)
Quallity of amps & effects (9 COSM amps, 8 categories of effects)
Looper & freeze function!
Memory & manual mode!
Cons:
Just one con (for me!)
There is only an "old school" 2 digits small screen, so it's not so easy to recognize presets names!
Conclusion: A fantastic retro "old school" guitar fx unit with all controls given clearly on panel!! Highly recommended, if you like this direct style-function!
Worth each cent!
Pros:
Very solid body and foot switches. The interface is pretty rich and easy to understand even at first glance. The (up to) 8 simultaneous effects covers a huge part of what a beginner-to-intermediate musician (as me) would want from such a device. Their quality can really stand up to some of the single effect pedals.
Cons:
Probably a bit heavy to carry. If you are a fan of live improvisations and like to modify the effects a lot while playing, the knobs are not the best option. The lack of some kind of drum machine is what bothers me every time when jamming by myself.
Conclusion:
It totally worth the money. The perfect gear for a jam session and some live performances.
Class
Can't fault the thing.
All sounds great. Very easy to use. Stirdy.

does such a lot for a good price, friends have tried and also bought the same need i say more,
Boss ME-80
Easily one of the best multi effects pedals ive ever owned!
It comes with neat presets ready for any style.
Its realistic sound is really close to the stompboxes that boss makes. The amp models are taken from the great Boss GT-100 which is amazing. What i like the most about Boss pedals in general is that when it comes to sustain they're second to none which is a very important aspect. The delay and the noise gate are also exceptional.
This pedal is very reliable for love performance and it can be easily connected to any pa system or amp.
Another cool feature for us lazy guitarists is the USB connectivity, you can connect it to BOSS Tone Studio and get the sound of the greatest guitarists with just a few clicks away.
I highly recommend this Pedal!
Good value for the price
A very powerful effects processor. It has two sides - it can work as a true patch-based multi-effects processor or it can work as a pedalboard with 5 stompboxes, an expression pedal and a preamp simulator. If used in memory mode, the user can create banks (U1, U2,...) that hold 4 patches (U1-1, U1-2,...) each patch can have 2 variations under it ? individual effects can be switched on/off or the user can choose a parameter that changes by the press of a CTL button. But these variations can hold only one set of effects, you can not change the type of distortion (for example) only the level.
This unit has a 3,5mm headphone/record out, so it can be plugged in to the PC to record demos quickly. The effects are awesome, but I didn't yet understand how to use the preamp simulator ? it makes the effects sound worse.
I also strongly advise the Boss Tone Studio software, it makes the process of creating patches oh so easy and quick.
The one weakness of this processor is that it doesn't support the effects loop, it only has an input and stereo outputs, so it can be used only before of the amp.
Boss me-80
Amazing machine, still only stroking the surface of it's potential. One thing thats annoying and everyone should be aware of before buying this is that it doesn't come with a power adapter, and requires a very specific adapter. You can't plug in any 9v adapter (I have tried with 3 different ones) so buy the adapter with the pedal. It has to be a Boss psa.
