I can only use one word to describe this piece of kit. Lifesaver! Coming from an audio visual background I found this attenuator very useful when taking feeds from bands, DJ?s and even translators who often didn?t have the ability to put a pad on the original mic inputs. Having the ability to adjust the level in three steps was a plus and selling point for me, as I?m a believer in the more control you have, the better. My most frequent use of these attenuators would be when taking a stereo feed from a DJ. Most of the time I have the use of a digital desk with built in compressors but on the occasion I have to use an analogue desk I stick 2 of these in the signal path and I can rest assure that the PA is safe from signal overload. The attenuator itself is really sturdy and with a bit of...

This is a really useful device for testing cables, and in my opinion unbeatable at this price-point. Only con is the build quality: not all jacks are affixed to the case, which _might_ be an issue if you use this thing on tour. (sorry if this is nit-picky) For me this is not an issue as I'm using it at home and in the rehearsal room. This is why I sill give five stars. At this price point it is hard to complain. If you remember to switch it off after use, the battery will last virtually forever.
Digital Sound 8928

Robust, feels like it was built from quality materials, really easy to read the display, the buttons are comfortable to handle, and the whole device is so well designed that even a toddler can handle it. A little bit bigger in size than expected (that's what she said), but still pretty portable. Probably the size is the only downside of the Digital Sound 8928, as the price is also more than affordable. I'm using it for studio sound penetration level metering, and house / room sound isolation test, and various sound level checks, and so far it works like a charm. With the feature of logging and keeping the highest / lowest record you can place it in a desired place, do the test and check the results after. It's really handy if you do test alone, or when soundproofing a room, so you are...
Superlux Pink Stick

If you work in live sound this is a toolbox essential. Most consoles these days have a pink noise facility on the console which can be sent to various outputs. The pink stick though is more of a test tool. If you work as a stage patch on a festival or need to perform line checks this is the tool you need. The pink stick has various modes apart from pink including pulse, and 1khz tone. In between each tone is a mute function which is more like power off as you can hear a nosie from a pa system or through headphones when this is switched to a position. To make the pink stick easier to use and plug into stage boxes I have added a short xlr lead, by short i mean 30-50cm ish, I find It makes it easier to use. I am very surprised at the low cost of the pink stick. The build quality seems good...

Virker?

OK at first I thought this is the worst designed battery compartment ever. It did not make contact with the terminals well enough to keep contact. I was about to return it when I tried one last time. This time I pushed in and down and I heard a click... and now I think its the best designed battery compartment ever. In and down. Well this is a must tool for any tech, sound engineer or musician if you are a sole traveller. Bands, buy one. At this price its the cheapest of its kind. But the quality of the unit is unbelievable. This is a tank. Plug one end of the cable into the correct socket. Plug the other end to the correct socket for it. And config seems to be catered for. Turn the switch to the numbers. The corresponding light will light up. Now you will need to know a little about how...

The meter is really huge physically, especially with the case, I didn't expect the size so be careful if you are looking for something elegant to carry in your jacket pocket. Otherwise, it seems reliable and precise, it's my first SPL and I love all the different functions it has such as calculating the noise level of specific sounds where the meter will subtract the general "room" noise and make the calculations automatically for you. This can be really helpful in certain situations. I have mainly bought it to be able to calibrate speakers and have consistency and a solid reference when working in different studios. Before I was using an application on my iPhone and obviously, this meter is a better option.

The Millenium MCT-10 cable tester has often helped me in troubleshooting and I do not want to miss him. One can see immediately whether a cable is wired wrong or faulty. The clear arrangement of the LEDs will show it also in poorly lit places. With Speakon, ¼? jack, XLR and RCA connectors he covers the main audio connectors and is so to consider also to check adapter cable. For even more flexibility, you can use the enclosed measuring tips. The processing is OK, but the China-Speakon involve quite a lot of play, so that a plug fits in upside down. However, this is already my only criticism. But for the price I can ignore it. All in all I can say it saves time and it does what it should. I would buy it again.

I bought this to troubleshoot lines out on the road, when you're not sure why a channel isn't working etc, i have since found even more uses: finding corresponding channels on a multi that isn't labeled for example! The diagnosis of the faults aren't always 100% but if it says the line is all good then without fail so far, it has been right. To cut a long story short, i couldn't really do without it now. We sometimes even use this to silently line check before a show. and for the price... well its a no brainer for me. i shall now be purchasing the NL4 one as well!
Behringer CT200

I've used the CT100 for years, both as a very solid cable tester and as a great mount for soldering cables on-the-fly. The CT200 is built to the same indestructible specification and shares lots of the same features, but adds USB, Speakon and Cat5 to that. The additional functionality means the original idiot-proof 3x3 LED matrix is no longer used, instead using a numerical display and coloured LEDs to describe connected/crossed/open cables. This makes it a little less intuitive to use, and although it's great for confirming standard cable connections, it displays correctly connected unbalanced jack-jack cables as 'crossed' which is a bit annoying. However the additional cable types available for testing are great, and the further functionality in terms of crossed/open/shorted/phantom...
