EBow EBow Plus Reviews
Great for ambient and experimental music
I didn't think of the e-bow too much because I mainly play metal, but I was dead wrong. After seeing what can it do and how to use it I bought it and used it on my electric guitar and fretless bass with some added overdrive and reverb and other effects. It sounds big and beautiful, lush and mysterious at the same time. It is kinda tricky at first to get it to work properly and the material is quite top notch, seems to be some sort of cheap plastic. It has enough features but I did hope to have sort of thing that you can use to attach it to your guitar or pocket. Overall, a great piece of gear that can add a new dimension to your playing and music.
Tiny but powerful
Just needed this to bring out a different tone out of my guitar....much more like keyboard sounds or violin really...Ed O'Brien type stuff....coupled with effects like reverb or delays or anything like SP404 stuff like filter, fuzz and tape echo....things can get pretty wild. just helps me to think of the guitar as a different beast really. Been using this with the volume knob on the guitar for tremolo...
Great for ambient shoe-gaze , lo-fi and volume swells stuff....sounds huge with delayssss...
Ebow, has its place in guitar heaven.
Guitarists just love messing about with sounds. The electric guitar offers many different variations of tone and texture. Blending a new sound into a mix of a song is one of my musical pleasures. The E Bow, with its sustained clear signal and moveability on the strings, produces a sound which is unique. It's like a mixture of keyboard guitar and strings. It could be that missing element in a mix which adds a distinctive hook. Yea we love messing with pedals and devices and the Ebow is a well established tool of the trade. Get one!
Exelent :-)
super eazy to use - god cuality and for a nice price .
Totally satisfied
Use this effect for guitar and discover a whole new dimension of your timbre .
The only disadvantage of this product is that it's a little hard to get the exact volume in every different note you play .Although i don't own a volume pedal , one could be useful . Use it together with reverbs too.
Takes a little while to get used to its handling but once you get it , it's totally liberating !
I recommend this effect to guitarists who want to expand their guitars sound !
My guitar is now a completely new instrument
Astonished by the sounds I'm able to pull off thanks to this thing. Plus it's super easy to use. -1 star in quality because of the plastic housing, you definitely don't want to drop it.
it gets boring fast
Even tho i know what i was getting and it is fun for a min it gets old and just not that interesting or inspiring to use.
To me the biggest problem with the e-bow is that for that price you should really get more sturdy more quality material instead of this cheap plastic it is made of, it really feels super cheap in my hands and it really is not.
Great gadget but a little bit expensive.
Really cool device, I recommend this to everyone who likes to experiment, especially if you are playing electronics/ambient, doom metal/drone or just like to sustain last notes of your solo for half an hour at the end of your song, it has two modes, one that sustains your note in a "regular" manner (doesn't change its sound) and the other one that creates additional harmonics and makes it sound differently every time (sort of like with pinch harmonics). It's a little bit expensive for what it does and the build quality of mine is decent at best (mine had a sharp piece of plastic near battery compartment sticking out) and it's made entirely of well... plastic... but it has a nice sparkly finish that make its glossy plastic look a little bit better, however I wish it was matte plastic or maybe even wood, it's certainly doable it this price.
Needs a re-design
Been using these for years and they're still too expensive for what they are. It's time for a redesign. For example, the battery always gets switched on in transit...the switch should be moved or adapted. Whoever designed this must spend all their time protecting the patent as there's never been an alternative manufacturer.
Creative tool for writing
The E-bow is a piece I've thought about buying for years but never got round to it. For the price, it is a little expensive, but I'd still say pick it up, look after it and you shouldn't ever have to buy another.
Overall:
The E-bow is a really creative and fun effect. It's really nice to help flesh out ideas for songs, or just add a little something to an almost finished track to help add some ambience. Seriously work the money in that regard. It sounds really cool on Bass and Acoustic guitar too, something I didn't know about when I was buying.
Cons:
For the money, it could perhaps be a built out of something other than plastic. That said, its a very durable plastic and so long as you don't plan on throwing it out of a moving car or stepping on it, it won't be breaking any time soon on you.
Conclusion:
If you're thinking about getting one, just get it and you'll have it to help you out of any creative blocks you'll ever find yourself in through the years.
Disappointing.
I got this thing to use it with my bass... And so I never made it work.
I read info in their official website, watched youtube tutorials, I tried with a Warwick Rock Bass 5 Strings, Metal strings, and as well with a fretless nylon strings bass, and I even tried it with an electronic guitar, no result at all! The thing works, yes, it makes some sort of noise when I switch it off and on but it doesn't make the effect which it is intended to do, I guess it likes some basses only, they say it requires practice, but I can not make it sound nice at all not even for one second, I wasted my money on this b-shit. I don't advice it to anyone.
Great product
Something different for your guitar.
"The Power Of Love"
Does anybody remember Frankie Goes to Hollywood "The Power Of Love" that guitar intro?
If you want to recreate that sound get one of these babies...
Open the door to a whole new soundscape!
Not just violin/cello sounds, flute, saxophone, trombone, the list is endless especially if you mix this with a good echo machine you can really fly new musical sounds and to think this thing has been around since the 1970's
The Real Tool That Should be Found on Any Musician Pedalboard!!!
I Got my E-Bow for about 2 years and i'm very happy with it!!
The E-Bow has two modes - Normal mode has more natural sustain, simply extending the note you play, the second (Harmonic mode) encourages rich upper harmonics and that's where things can get REALLY crazy!
Take a Slide and add some effects like Tape-Echos (Delays), Reverbs, Whammy pedal, volume pedal or/and vintage overdrives/fuzzes and you will find with just a little practice some cool stuff sounds - some incredible textures, modulations, rich sounds like violins, cellos, synths (lead & pads) and much more!
You can create strings-quartet/pads by recording and overdubbing multiple notes in different octaves.
I have only some one cautionary note to say - the EBow itself is made out of a very flimsy feeling plastic, so don't let fall your e-bow - the plastic casing makes the durability a bit questionable, though I'm quietly grateful for that, because when you put a battery on it feels surprisingly weighty! On the other side i only discovery "pros".
Overall MKEY
Does what its build for but the materials are cheap as hell. It should cost under 50 EUR, but as there are not many competitors in this market, you can sell them for whatever you want.
Do not know if i could recommend it to anyone.
Bought this for recording new sounds. Just like many gimmicks if it is over used could be boring but used sparingly it's a breath of fresh air!
Does what it promises
Got my ebow some months ago!
Dropped it two times in gigs with small space and it still works perfectly.
If I had one drawback to mention, it would be the battery housing that is not so well designed and takes some work to fit the battery in.
Besides that, it is an E-bow, it does what it promises to do and does it well.
Has anyone else...
... get this e-bow because of Coldplay - Amsterdam (Live at Sydney)? When I saw Jonny use it I wasn't even sure it's the guitars. Then I googled it out and found this simple, easy to use and marvelous thing. It's mine for two years now, I used it in 2 songs on my album and it's still my favorite toy for jamming sessions. Be careful for it not to fall, it's not-very-hard plastic.
Great but not perfect
i got this thing here to get this feedback sound in some way or another because i do not record through an amp. While it does its job, i find that it takes a bit of time for the result, and it can be annoying trying to find the sweet spot. But once you do you will like it.
Beautiful sound, without picking
The Stuff:
Comes in a tiny paper box, but it contains a textil bag for carrying. It has some very sexy stickers.
Tone:
It really nicely plays out the harmonics from the guitar. There are two options for harmonics: a normal, and a higher octave. A prefer the normal, never use the higher one.
Construction:
Seems and feels to be ok. I have been using it for a year, and it steel has the first 9v battery.
