Elixir .011 Single String Plain Steel 5-stars Reviews
Excellent quality and reliability
Suitable for long term use without loss of tone and tuning
Great Product
My strings of choice for the last 8 years or so. Smooth, durable, crisp tones all day.
Not sure if they have a coat?
Sound solid, helpful if you break a string.
Perfect for aggresive sweat!
They sound awesome and they don't corrode as easily as other brands. The price may be a bit on the higher end but is definitely worth it if your sweat is rusting other brands in a week. Amazing in general
As usual, Elixir wins.
I broke my E string as I use Elixir 11 guages, and broke it while restringing the guitar with lesses quality locking tuners, and ordered this, put it on, and it is still on the guitar since Elixirs last forever.
Long lasting good value 11 gauge string
Bought this plain high e string for a custom strings gauge. Been a long time Elixir strings user. This newer formula with anti rust feels and sounds even more natural and classic as far as plain strings tones go. Seems resistent to corrosion just like it's supposed to be.
Good thing the possibility to buy single strings for your own gauge, also with these Elixirs, which are your best bet as coated/anti just plain strings, in my opinion.
Elixir is my string choise
always good to have a good replacement at hand
Elixir for the win!
No words to say...If you know to play the guitar make sure you have the right strings to do it well..Only elixir are good enough!
Perfect!
Best strings on the market ATM.
a must have for guitar players
Who hasn't broke a string on their guitar? It happens all the time, so if you're in a live situation, or just don't want to change the other strings because they still sound great, the best is to have a good replacement around. These elixir singles are pretty good sounding and long lasting, so you can keep them in your guitar case for a long time without no problems, since they have an anti-corrosion coating.
My father wanted to make his own set for his guitar because he has a bit sensitive skin (has bunch of skin problems, not to mention developing arthritis).
He liked flatwound strings because they aren't hard on the fingers but he wanted to try something new and missed the sound of the roundwounds.
He was impressed with the quality (they were removed and put back on on the guitar, I think, 3 times) and loved the coated feel they had. He claims they are not hard on his fingers.
They are still on after almost a year of use. I'd say he plays around 5-10 hours per week. Not bad I say!
Excellent.
I normally use 10-46 gauge Elixir strings on my guitars but decided I wanted to use my Les Paul (one of the cheaper Gibson 60's tributes) for slide tuned to open E and was a bit disappointed that the high E sounded/felt a little weedy and weak. Then I read an interview with Derek Trucks where he said he replaces his 10 gauge E with an 11 (although he uses a different brand) so I did the same and the guitar now plays perfectly (even if I can't play like Mr Trucks). It makes open G sound better too for Keef type stuff. Try it.
Excellent Quality Strings, As Always!
I like to use quite thin gauges for the higher strings on my guitar because I like the twangier sound. However, my fingers and quite sensitive and I sometimes find that the thinner the strings are, they sharper they can be. Nothing puts you off picking up your guitar more than painful fingers caused by the strings themselves!
This is not the case with Elixir strings however. I know many people use them because they want a set of high quality, longer lasting strings, but I find that the coating not only lengthens the life of the higher strings, but prevents them from cutting into your fingers as much.
With thinner gauges there is a bit of a trade off with the coating because if your fingers are particularly sweaty, you might find your fingers slipping. This is easy enough to get used to though, and definitely worth it, considering the fact that these strings last 3-4 times longer than other brands.
The sound produced by these strings can be slightly difficult to get used to if you're new to them, so bear this in mind. I feel the coating slightly cuts the "twang" some people enjoy. I you're playing bluegrass or something similar, you might find they reduce the brightness and deaden your sound a bit.
Overall though, these strings are definitely worth the price I would recommend, as I'm sure many guitar players would, stocking up on a few extra low gauge strings just in case!
In my opinion Elixir strings are phenomenal. I have tries several brands and i prefer the elixir tone.
Another big plus is the fact that they take a lot longer to rust and maintain that fresh string sound for months. I usually swap them every 6 months/year.
The only downside is the price however I believe it is still by far the best option economically.
Every guitar in my house is stringed with strings of Elixir.
The Elixir-strings last three times more than regular strings. I compared it with strings from Ernie Ball and D'addario
The sound oft Elixir strings is a little bit metallic in my ears but only when the guitar is not amplified. It is not ear piercing, just a subtle change in sound.
For every guitar player who hates to restring his guitar, Elixir-strings are the best choice and in my opinion the only option because you really can play more than twice the time before restringing it again.
These are the best strings you can buy, so buy it!
Simply the best!
The best strings in the world !!! I am happy that these strings exist and wish longevity manufacturers.
Awesome Strings
I’ve been using elixirs for around 5 years now and can’t recommend them highly enough. They last for an unbelievably long time. I gig and practice around 6 times a month and the string can last over 12 months before needing to be replaced. String strength is great and I hardly ever break strings anymore. The sound, which with coated strings is always the contentious factor, is great as far as I’m concerned. Not too twangy and not too muted, perfect for a neutral sound to bring out the tone of the guitar.
I’ll never use anything else as these fit my needs perfectly and although they aren’t cheap compared to non coated strings, they last so much longer that you’d need to buy at least ten packs of non-coated strings to even get near the lifespan of these.
