Elixir Nanoweb Light Acoustic Reviews
bereft of character
I know lots of people like these strings, which was the reason for me to try them, but for me they totally did not work. It may be because I have an old guitar (a 1947 Gibson J45), but the strings sounded dull and were bereft of character. My guitar, which normally has a very distinct personality, turned into an anonymous non-entity. The strings clearly are well made, and there was no notable degradation in tone in the two weeks I had them on my guitar, but I'll not be using them again.
Lasts long, Sounds bright and masive
I'm using it with Alhambra A2. These strings sounds perfect! Clear and massive! Last more than double longer than other strings, keeps an intonation and brightness. My favourite strings for more than five years and I've still haven't found anything better...
Good Strings for your guitar
I cannot imagine a better strings than Elixir I highly recommend it and if you didn't try yet you don't know what you're missing.
The best acoustic strings
Elixir have been making coated strings for some time now. These are my favorite over the polyweb versions which flake away after some time. The nanoweb is a thicker coated string that lasts longer and stays brighter for longer
Longest life in strings
These are the only strings I will use on my acoustic guitar. Rory Gallagher is said to have had particularly acidic sweat, which is what the finish on his famous Strat to deteriorate, and also made his strings wear out in no time. I think I must have the same problem because my strings (particularly on my acoustic) seem to get rusted over in no time.
The Elixer Nanoweb strings have allowed me extend the life span of my strings by a factor of 4, saving me a lot of money, time and effort.
Obviously for most people, tone will be the deciding factor in your choice of strings. But if you've had similar problems to me in terms of string life longevity, it's well worth giving these coated strings a try.
Longer lifetime
Great if you are a working guitarist and don't like changing strings as often. Their coating is making them sound similar for longer time, that sound however is a bit duller than the sound of fresh non coated strings, so if you need super crisp and bright sound of fresh new strings for studio recording, you can get by by buying cheaper strings.
Great playability and hard wearing strings!!!
Great set of strings for all types of acoustic guitars, smooth to play with a great lasting tone. Definitely a must for any acoustic guitar.. Slightly more expensive than the rest but well worth it..
Strings that last for an eternity
I bought these strings because i don't like to change strings every two or three weeks. Elixir says that the nanoweb coating would make the strings last up to five times longer and i can totally agree with this statement. I usually change my coated strings twice a year and even after hours of playing they still sound great.
When they are too old they start to sound worse very fast, but till you reach that point it takes a very long time.
The only thing i have to criticise is the fact that the coating is peeled of real fast when you use a pick. But all in all that is not a problem because it has no hearable influence on the sound quality.
Great strings, last ages
I bought these strings for my acoustic. I must have acidic fingers because, usually strings don't last very long. However, these have been on the guitar for months and still sound like they are new. Great strings.
Elixir nanoweb Light Acoustic Strings
The best Acoustic strings on the market. Warm low end and crystal clear high end. Long lasting and fantastic sounding. I don't use anything else on my acoustic guitars. Elixir all the way.
Great long lasting strings
Only use these strings. Last for ages and once you get used to them they are great. Initially they are a little slippy but wear in quickly. I find other strings tend to go rusty very quickly but not these ones.
Not for everyone, but brilliant for me
I know not everybody has issues with regular strings, and I know not everybody likes the sound of coated strings or the feel of coated strings, but for me, these are a life-saver (or rather, a moneysaver!). I first tried elixirs when they were brand new around 2004 and I haven't used anything since, when given a choice. I have several electrics and 2 acoustics (Taylor 214 and Gibson Dove) and all have elixir nano webs. Something about my sweat means ernie balls and D'addarios last no more than a few hours before starting to go black, and they feel "draggy" compared with the slippy-slidy elixirs. I can easily get 3 months out of a set if gigging weekly, or longer if it's not one of my main guitars. I won't use anything else.
Great tone and feel
I play a Takamine and a Gibson J-45, but not that often. As a result, my acoustic guitar strings tend to tarnish through lack of use so I made up my mind to use Elixirs and I have not been disappointed. The guitars still sound like they have new strings on after quite a long time of hanging on the wall.
Elixir Nanoweb
at first you may find the "slippery" feel of this set a bit annoying, but this feeling will disappear as soon as you make your first "strum". They sound amazing with just the right amount of wormth.
yes, it is not even close to being cheap, but it will save you a the price of at least three sets as those strings really do last around three times more than almost any competitor.
Elixir continues to impress :D
Nice strings - lasts a long time
This is the kind of product that you don't notice the awesomeness of right away. They sound good but so do most stings when you put them on. These strings simply sound good for a much longer time. I used to change strings (what seemed like) all the time. Now I change them once a year. New strings still sound better than old ones, but it is no where near as big a difference as with 'normal' strings. They just doesn't go dull the same way 'normal' strings does.
They don't break easily either. And I dig in hard on my strings!
Elixir Nanoweb Acoustic light Guitar strings
Simply the best acoustic guitar strings on the planet, I would not use anything else, long lasting and a great price too, put them on and forget about changing them for a few months
This is only my opinion...
....but I believe these are the best strings you can buy. Absolutely shining sound, feels wonderful under your fingers, and lasts a pretty long time! I do music professionally and can say these string stand up to my high expectations of what strings should sound like and feel like.
I would recommend these to anyone that wants their guitar to sound its absolute best.
Love the Elixirs
A few years ago I tried the early versions of long-life coated strings and I hated them. The coating seemed to react to the moisture from my hands and degrade very quickly. It used to flake off, leaving the strings feeling rough and uncomfortable to play.
Fast-forward to eighteen months ago when I bought my first Taylor acoustic guitar. Taylor fit Elixir strings as standard and I was very, very impressed by how long they retained that crisp, new-sounding resonance, as well as by how good they feel. This type of string has clearly improved a lot since the early days. I love them and will now use nothing else on my acoustic guitar.
Elixir-Strings
I use Elixir strings for my acoustic-guitars for years now, because they sound really well.
The most important point about those strings is the durability.
It's true, that those strings got a good tone so many weeks, even with sweaty hands.
In my opinion those strings are a bit too brilliant in the first hours, but it gets well soon.
Very happy with these strings
I bought this strings because my guitar was delivered with exactly these string. I allways loved the sound and so I bought it again. The strings are durable, even if treated by a beginner.
