Elixir Nanoweb Medium 5-stars Reviews
Best strings!
Best strings ever! I've been using them for a few years now and they never let me down, very long lasting, always in tune, highly recommended!
Best strings for my money
I've been using these since I found them in the mid-90s and I will not consider using anything else. Great sound and longevity, and the nanonweb makes them so smooth to play. If you've never tried any of Elixir's nanoweb range, I urge you to try them.
WONDERFUL STRINGS
I prefer Elixir 11s nanowebs to any string I have ever tried - and I've been around a while and tried many. They are not hugely expensive (not dirt cheap either) but they keep their tone for a LONG time so work out cheaper than say D'Addario 11s in the long run.
Rich, honking tone to the lower strings and clean, smooth trebles too.
In five years of using them I have never had an Elixir string break, even when gigging.
Oh - and the coating means that they dont go rusty from my sweaty paws if I forget to wipe down. Bonus!!
awesome strings
LOVE these strings. I play for hours at a time usually every day. These strings are the longest lasting and best sounding strings I have ever used. I was using Octacore strings on my Gibson J-100 Xtra and they were way too "bassy" for a large body guitar. I tried D'Addario strings but they only survive through a few hours of hard playing. A friend of mine who is an amazing pro musician recommended these strings and I have not played anything else since. They cost a little extra but are well worth the cost. They perform better than some strings I was paying much more for
The Rolls-Royce of strings
These strings are pretty good, and I do mean good, they're durable and keep nice clean crisp sound even after many long hours of play.
Silicone-coated, nickel plated strings that keep their tone.
Durable strings with a lovely tone.
First, I should start by telling people that I live close to the beach (less than 50m from it) and in a tropical country. I am telling this not as a way of bragging, but to explain that, things in my house do get RUSTY. And I mean, they really do. Other brands of strings normally last easily for less than 3 months if they are let alone. If I play daily, the strings hardly ever last after 3 weeks without getting filled with rust. But, with Elixir strings, they last far longer. I normally only change them when I send my guitars to the luthier for a setup, which I do every 4 to 6 months. Also, their tone holds up quite perfectly and have a really good shine. Therefore, if you are the sweaty type or if you live in a place where the humidity is high, walk the extra mile and buy Elixir, if you want your strings to last longer.
Good sound, great longevity - a must for everyday players
I got into these string while living in very humid climates, as nothing else lasts more than a few days without rusting in the tropics. Now that I'm back in Europe, I still find these last far longer in good-sounding condition than anything else, and they more than justify the extra cost. It's basically double the price of ordinary strings, but 4-5 times the playable lifespan.
Incredible Strings
I use these on my Fender Jaguar. For some reason, a lot of people don't like how they feel or sound but I find they're perfect for my needs. Very comfortable to play and they last for months!
Elixir Nanoweb Medium
These strings are now my favourite!
For a long time, I played D'Addarios, which are nice, but I wanted something that lasts longer. So far, that has definitely been the case with Elixir!
The wound strings feel a little slippery at first, but not in a distracting way. Overall, the tone is just as clear as with D'Addarios.
This set of strings in particular has very even tension across all strings. I play them in D standard which feels light, but not flubby at all.
Considering the increased lifetime and great tone, these strings are definitely worth the extra money over conventional strings.
No words needed
These are a bit expensive but lets be honest, quality is what costs.
These are very well sounding and very well built string. If you are not a regular player then these will last for a very long time. Nice bright and have this coating on them that gives more life-time.
These are quite expensive but lets be honest, quality costs more.
I love the way these feel
These were my first experiment with coated strings, and I just love how silky smooth they are. And months later, there's not a hint of corrosion on my strings.
For another guitar, I bought the cheaper Harley Benton coated strings, and I really can't tell the difference. I guess time will tell.
Bought this because I now it´s good
In my opinion Elixir is the best string make on the market at the moment. When put on the set sounds clear and new but not too new, a bit like it´s been played for a while when the sound is at its best - and it stays like that for a long time!
Small minus comes from two bad experiences of a brand new Elixir string breaking.
Elixir quality
I like this kind of strings and play them even in drop tunings like drop C - they live a long life and sound really great. Elixir is the best
The best - I love Elixir
The best - I love these strings. Elixir truly brings more lifetime to strings, 3-5 times is quite accurate. They are very clear sounding and smooth to handle. I only buy these nowadays. Worth a try for anyone.
Simply the best strings
Elixir Nanowebs are a perfect match of tone, playability and longevity. They do maintain their tone last at least twice as long as regular strings. And you don't have to put up with the squeaking noises that plague regular strings.
A couple of years back Elixir had a quality problem in manufacturing. Their strings, while sounding fine, tended to break very easily. The guitar playing community complained loudly, but Elixir seemed to dodge the issue. I nearly gave up on them.
But they did improve their materials without making any fuss over the issue. I would have preferred if they had acknowledged the input of the community but main thing is that now Elixirs don't break any easier than the competition.
I use nothing else now.
Best strings I've used
Best brand of strings I used so far. They sound GREAT! My hands are sweaty, and nanoweb coating protects strings for a long time. The only place coating wears off is where I pick strings, and that's ok. Used these for drop G tuning (7-string) paired with single .68 (elixir as well), and it works great. I highly recommend these strings.
Amazing durability and sound
Normally these are my string of choice, except in light. While they are initially expensive, their durability drastically increases the time in between string changes, making them more than worth their value. They sound great as well compared to the other string companies, and aren't hindered by their coating.
Elixir or not, that's the question?
My final say in this matter is that I like using Elixir strings on guitars that I don't play too often. Elixir strings seems not to age in time, but by wear. If you don't play the guitar in a year it will sound exactly as good is it did last time you touched it. This is not the case with regular strings.
However, I do not like using Elixir strings on guitars that I play very often. Up on those hot and sweatty stages the abuse on the strings are excessive, and after a gig like that, Elixir strings will sound just as dull as regular strings. Also, they will break just as easy.
Four stars on sound. Sometimes I imagine that a brand new Elixir string doesn't sound as good as a brand new regular string. Although the new string sound will last longer.
Five stars on quality due to the fact that I can have guitars that I don't play too often sound good for a very long time!
Great sound
Good crisp sound from these strings, coating does protect against rust, however will still become worn from pick strumming
Impressive
My first set of Elixirs. I use them for my Yamaha dreadnought. The sound, resonance and playability of these strings is impressive. Worth the extra money.
