Elixir 12152 Nanoweb Heavy Reviews
Only Elixir strings give that freshness and clarity for such a long time. A little more expensive, but would wholeheartedly recommend trying at least once for anyone unsure. Well worth the extra few euro!
The string of choice!
After turning to elixirs after trying many brands a couple of years back i would look no further now.
Elixirs outlast any other brand i have used tenfold and in turn save me a lot of money, i tend to sweat a lot whilst playing which corrodes the strings quickly, but elixir have solved this issue with the nanoweb coating.
They do feel slightly different to uncoated strings but after a couple of weeks of use you wouldn't even notice!
Highly Recommend
Excellent value for money
I sweat a lot and my sweat is pretty corrosive, which results in me destroying a regular set of strings within a week (even with using Fast Fret before and after playing)
NOT ANYMORE! With the Elixir strings, I can enjoy great sound and easy playing for months, without having to worry about my strings going dull.
And for those who complaing about porr tone, well, at least with Elixir strings the tone stays consistent for months. Sure, a non coated string set sounds amazing on the first day, but what good will it do if the tone quality degrades a week later???
Weapon of choice.
These strings are like no other. The best thing I will point out on these strings are the anti rust feature. They also don't allow dirt and sweat to get into the metals. These are the best feeling strings I have played. I have tried a lot of brands over the years and by far these strings take home the gold. From a bend to a pinch, these are a cheeky set of strings that will transform any guitar into a little piece of heaven.
Good sound and longer lasting.
I've had strings that sound a bit better. These strings though lets me keep em on for another couple of weeks without loosing much tone. Thats means good value for the money.
On the downside is, a tiny bit duller tone than the premium uncoated strings. There is also a slighty different feel to coated strings when playing. There is not as much "glide".
Good Strings
Most people will be buying these for lower tunings such as drop C, B or A#. First and foremost I am an acoustic guitar player and am used to much heavier strings so I use these on my Fender VG Strat in standard tuning as 10's and 11's feel to light for me.
While Elixir seem to be conquering the acoustic strings market, I feel their electric strings are highly underrated. The last set I had on my guitar lasted from October 2014 to late February 2015. Most people I know would've gone through countless sets of D'Addario by then. These well worth buying in any gauge as they last forever and always feel nice and fresh.
The best strings ever
These strings just won't wear out. They stay sparkly and bright for ridiculously long time. I had one set for a year with daily playing and the only reason I had to change them was that the fretboard itself started to require cleaning so the strings were in the way. This 12-52 set has a wound 3rd string which sounds cool for palm muting and is easier to keep in tune than a same gauge plain string because the core wire is thinner.
I used these in D-tuning (one whole step down) on a 25.5 inch scale guitar and the feel was solid. Not the tightest but enough for precise metal riffing. If you like the bright clang of new strings to stay longer, these are the ones to go.
The best guitar strings.
No doubt's that Elixir strings are one of the best on market. After many days of playing guitar still sound like new. Heavy nanoweb series have thick bottom bass from amplifier.
Durable, well sounding strings
I've been testing different strings from various brands for years. A few years ago I started using Elixir strings due to a few different reasons.
All the other strings I tried, including the well known brands, did not make the grade for me. The reasons are quite simple: I do not like the sound of most fresh non-coated strings, they are a little bit to harsh sounding for me. After a short time of usage these non-coated strings usually reach the sweet spot, where they sound the best to me. From this point it doesn't take long until they sound too muffled.
In contrast to these non-coated strings the Elixir strings tend to keep the sweet-spot sound for almost their entire life span, even out of the box.
Besides the coating makes them really durable, depending on the usage of the guitar they can last up to a few months. This is also the reason why they are worth the higher price in comparison to non-coated strings.
One last thing: of course I compared these strings to other coated strings. I like the Elixir strings better but that might be my personal taste.
I never use other srings
For once the commercials are right. These coated strings almost never rust at all.
Normal D'addario strings are full of rust in 2 weeks on my guitar.
These still feel new after 2 months !
Excellent
I love Elixir strings - not too bright when you first fit them, which is a big bonus for me, and also they keep that same tone almost indefinitely, for even a year on a guitar that is not used so often
Great strings and cheap considering how long they last
Ok, so after using Ernie Balls for over ten years I was getting fed up with changing strings on a weekly basis as they were going off and kept breaking in the middle of gigs.
I now use these on all of my guitars. They last an incredible amount of time. Three months of gigging on my strats (I gig at least once a week) and a bit shorter on my Les Paul mainly due to the bridge being a bit harsher.
The sound is great but different to non coated strings. All in I'd urge anyone struggling with constantly rusting strings to try these they are awesome!
The only one issue is that they last so long it's difficult to work out if there is wear at the bridge points and nut which can cause string breakage after a few months, yes that's right, a few months!!!!!
Highly recommended
Good Strings, Usless Gauge.
I love Elixir Strings, but I find this particular set useless as the plain strings are a bit too tight, while the wound strings are far too loose, I usually prefer tighter wound and looser plain strings. (This is on an Ibanez S620 with a 25.5" scale, ZR full floating trem/vibrato and tuned to B standard.)
