Perfect!

I bought these strings a while ago. They are my favorite until this day.

You can't go wrong with Ernie Ball strings! :-)

+ bend very well

Really nice

Its 20 years since I put these on a strat, and man I missed them. Amazing strings, easy to adjust intonation down from 9s. Oh if you are using a strat and you find the G string won't intonate, you'll need to remove the string tree holding the G and D strings from the head stock and allow the strings to run freely to their pegs. Not the fault of the strings. I'd forgotten this happens as its 20 years since I set up a strat with 008s.

Beautiful sound, adjusted the settings a bit in my amp settings, so easy to play. That said I am a delicate player.

Great strings

I much prefer light gauge strings, i find them far more comfortable than the 10s that usually seen as standard.

I've been using Ernie Ball for a while now, and i'm find them to be the best strings around really.

In all the times i've changed strings, it's been because they were old. Ernie Ball strings haven't broken on me yet, despite being light gauge.

On top of this, they're affordable!

All in all, an excellent product.

These are good quality guitar strings, good sound and longevity, but nowadays I would recommend the Ernie Ball Cobalt ones.

An interesting experiment with great results

I bought these on a whim after reading about guys like Allan Holdsworth, Yngwie Malmsteen and Frank Zappa using ultra light strings. I have a few guitars with string gauges ranging from 11s to 9s so I thought why not try 8s??

I put these onto my Yamaha Pacifica (shameless plug for these great guitars haha) and I'm really enjoying the experience. They definitely have a different feel to 9s and you do need to use a lighter touch, but bending and legato are a dream (I'm able to do bends of up to 4 whole tones on the b and e, youch!)

So my advice would be simple - try em out! You might even like it

Soft for little fingers.

Great strings for my 9 year old son just starting out, no sore fingers.

Awesome for the price

Those are the second strings that I'm using, first were those that already came with guitar. And I have to say that for me, as a beginner, they seem really awesome. They are very easy to play with.

Great strings - I've decided to give a try to new/other gauge strings after I've always been using 9's. Feels and sounds great, however I feel that they are too thin for me as bending them is insanely easy! The sound they make isn't much lighter at all - it's more about the feel I think. If you enjoy playing with thin strings I highly recommend Ernie Ball 2225!

Light gauge strings ... pros and cons?

I've always liked Ernie Ball strings ... I've tried other brands over the years but always find myself coming back to these.

I used a made up set for the past twenty year (gauges 009, 011, 014, 024, 032, 038) when I noticed a set of Extra Slinkies at a local store and thought that I'd give them a try and found them to be as nice to use ... oddly enough the 008 high E string felt a bit odd initially, but after about an hours use I got used to it and now use them on all of my guitars ... i.e. 21 and 22 fret Strats and an Ibanez Jem.

The worries I read about light gauge strings are unfounded in my view ... they are nice to use, string bending is far easier and on an electric guitar the gauge makes little difference. I have found nothing wrong at all with these at all ... for me they are the perfect fit.

Give them a try ...

Ernie Ball 2225 008 strings

A very well balanced tried and tested blend of materials and technology. Very clean and bright sounding, long lasting if kept clean, and my recommendation to all new students of the electric guitar. These are my "Heavy gauge" strings, as I normally use 007's (267439). They were my favourites for over 20 years until I tried the 007's. Some of my guitars are always strung with these. They stay in tune better if you want to bend them a lot than the 007's, but are not as soft to the fingers.

My definitive choice

These strings feature the lighter gauge in Ernie Ball's string catalogue, but show the same qualities of the heavier ones. Despite being really thin (the high E is only 008) they are loud enough to any kind of music, and the gauge is very well balanced from the first to the sixt string, allowing natural playing and good feel. Brilliant sounding, the quality of materials they're made of allows easy and almost extreme bending with no risk of break even with the thinner string: I think I broke just a couple in years, and I guess it was up to a sharp edged hole in the tuning key. Even after a long time, they never sound "muddy", they just sound "warmer". If you only care cleaning them with a cotton rag after every session (like any other set of strings) they will last very very long. Great value for the price.

Nice sound, good for string bends.

This guitar strings are great for bending, tapping and they sound great. The extra light choice is the best choice for a beginner when he likes to learn all the tricks like tapping... This will be a great choice for sound, comfort ability and your pocket :)

Extra Slinky doesn't mean a light sound

I can't remember why or exactly when I started using light gauge strings but from as far back as I can remember I have used ~ 8,11,14,22,30,38 as my main guitars' strings. I've been playing for 46 years (I'm 57 now) and still playing and Ernie Ball Extra Slinky's have been in my guitar toolbox for most of those 46 years. I find as long as they are changed regularly and cleaned after each gig, I don't suffer broken strings.

Due to the light gauge they bend very well and a good tone and a half is not unusual when I'm soloing at a gig. They very rarely go out of tune especially if you bed them in well ~ a couple of hours rehearsal before a gig will usually settle them for a trouble free session.

I generally buy 6 sets at a time just to be on the safe side so that I don't run out and I do LOVE the clear bell-like sound of fresh, new Ernie Ball strings on my Patrick Eggle Berlin guitar. You should try them out yourself !
