Ernie Ball 2627 Beefy Slinky Reviews
BEEFY
I got these to try on my Jackson Randy Rhodes with Floyd for drop C. They sound great as Ernie Ball strings usually do but I couldn't get the tension I need from these so I am going to go up another step and see how I get on. These would be a good fit for either D or Drop D.
Must have hands of steel!
These strings are very very heavy!I wanted to go up a gauge for better tone but i wasnt up to it!Great for metal as i gave them to my friend who loves them.
My main set for 3 years
I've used Beefy Slinky for about 3-4 years now and they have the perfect mix of thickness, since I play in D-standard and play pretty hard I had alot of problems with breaking strings, since I switched to Beefy Slinky i rarely break strings anymore wich is good for my wallet. They are heavy enough for the down-tuning but they don't feel overly thick so that it hurts my fingers. So perfect mix of durability and playability!
I have been using Ernie Ball strings for a few years now and I cant fault them one bit, they're great!
I have the Beefy Slinkys set up on my Jackson DKMG , tuned down to D and it plays superbly. Nice feel and the tension is good. I don't play much lower but Im sure they would be able to handle lower tunings with no problems. All in all very good set of strings for the price
feeling the power
Amazing, full of volume...feels amazing if you don't have a princess finger. I recommend it.
Reliable strings
Ernie Ball constantly deliver good quality products and their strings are no exception. I use these for tuning down to D and they are perfect. These are only beaten by the coated version available from Ernie Ball.
playing drop ?
easy to keep the low tone, just need 2 sec to feel the difference of size while changing guitar not equipped with the Beefy
best choice if you play drop tune
Just tried them, and all I can say is that I like them. I've used strings from Ernie Ball before, and I think I'll keep doing it. They're just... good. Very good.
Good strings. I don't really like Ernie ball strings, but this gauge is something that only they do out of the easy to find brands and size. If your doing drop C on a PRS custom 24, just get these and be done with it.
Quality Strings at a Great Price
I was very impressed with these strings. I've played just about every type of string there is and these are as good as any of them. Well worth a try and very well priced.
Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky Strings!
I simply love these strings, I've used them with both my Epihpone Explorer and my friends Gibson Les Paul Traditional they really make the guitar sing.
I've experimented with their drop tuning capabilities and have discovered that the bottom E drops to a C whilst still keeping tension, B is a bit of a push but it works!
I principly play bass and in doing so have had an obsession with bright snappy sounding strings, something I've taken over to guitar and these have that nice high end. They stay bright and new sounding for at least 3 weeks of regular playing in my experience.
Simply the best strings I've ever used!
Best Strings for me
Actually i was a little sceptic, when I first bought these Strings. I play a Gibson Studio in Drop-C , sometimes in Drop-A. The Sound of these strings is very good, i love it especially when they were pretty new on my guitar.
The strings can be played very well, they are neither too thick nor too thin. Even for Drop-A. I´m using these strings for about 7 years now and I wasn't disappointed at any time.
Good Strings for Drop Tunings
I was searching for strings for a Drop C Tuning on my guitar. I first started with Earnie Ball 2626 but they were too thick. My next tryout were the 2627 Beefy Slinky Strings. These are working much better. The overall sound is punchy in the low ends. But still the G Strings is sounding a little poor. (Not as poor as in the 2626 set, there it was really bad) But you can use it although the string has lack of sustain. But maybe these strings work better on an even lower tuning than Drop C.
nice for standard C-tuning
I've been using these strings for quite a while now. They are perfect for superstrat guitars tuned down to C# or C. Sound is punchy and articulate. Great quality, too. These strings last for quite some time and don't break easily. I'll stick to these.
Really beefy!
I bought these to try a set with a really thick low-E string. I wasn't disappointed. It gives me that really beefy sound, as the name says, and makes those really heavy distortions sound even better.
They also lasted more than usual before loosing that bright tone of new strings.
Strings for rock n roll!
I have used the Ernie Ball beefy slinkys for many years and they are great for a balanced tension in D tuning. The strings sound good but have some quality issues on the lighter strings. The high e-string unwinds from the ball end on some sets.
Ernie Ball Beefy Slinky
Sound - Brilliant, vibrant sound when detuned e.g. drop D or drop C. Nice smooth and clean sounding strings
Quality - Strings maintain their tension after lots of use, with quality of string keeping its new feel through out
Total - Would recommend there strings for anyone who likes playing in unorthodox tuning setups, as they can handle the stress from multiple tunings and can keep their good tone throughout their life
I love these strings
Use these on my Artcore as103 and my telecaster.
Fat and responsive tone. I love it. Makes standard light and medium strings sound thin and weak by comparison.
They are however heavy which makes bending a bit tougher but thats the trade off. Still, bending gets easier once you've gotten used to the tension.
Also, I don't detune my guitar so I can say from years of experience they play great when using standard tuning as well.
The manufacturing quality is superb and I almost never break these strings (only when I don't change them for 3 or 4 weeks).
Do yourself a favor and buy them already!
