Used in acoustic band

Two ZLX12P as FOHs since two years and LD systems MAUI 5 behind us as monitor now. This combination give us a perfect solution for our performances with mostly micked instruments. Those ZLXs has very nice sound, not so sharp as RCF and not "disco deep" as some others. I fully recommend them for small ensambles.

excellent speaker

I am a professional musician and have a dozen QSC K12's. I love them, but they are very expensive. The ZLX 12P comes in at 1/2 the price, but is an excellent alternative to the pricey QSC. I bought 8 of these and I am very happy. I do find the bass and there is too much bottom end, but with the handy DSP I can change that and tweak it to my liking. I highly approve and recommend this speaker.

Great as PA for acoustic set

Use

I'm using a set as PA for small venues when playing with an acoustic band (either piano/vocals, piano/vocals/guitar or piano/vocals/small drum set).

Clarity

The sound is pretty clear, paired with my Soundcraft EFX8. No hissing problems, and for it's price, you probably can't get a better deal.

Pros:

Low price, Sturdy Build, 3 handles in total for easy transport, not very heavy.

Cons:

None for now.

Comprehensibility:

Just plug and play, the DSP is easy to use, nothing else to add.

Final note:

If you're playing around with a small band in relatively small venues where you don't want to turn the volume knob to 11, those speakers will be your savior.

Excellent Speakers

Excellent Active speakers. I've had these for 5 years and they are still going great.

I use these as FOH for solo weddings and pubs. I also then use them as monitors for band gigs. They perform excellently for both applications. The controllers on the rear are simple and effective.

Great sound but wished the cover wasn't plastic

This speaker has a great sound! But the the main con I have is that it has a plastic cover!

I recommend it but I also strongly advise to not put it to too much of a fight, a minimum hit and it will easily leave a mark on the cover of the speaker. A price to pay for it's sound and price I guess!

Best offer I can buy! Incredibly low price with top quality. No mistake.

For my monitor speakers on stage, this is the best offer I can buy. In bundle comes with professional speaker stands set Millenium BS-2211B MKII Set. Incredibly low price with top quality. No mistake.

Excellent speaker!

Have a pair of them and use'em for small to medium events, or as monitors, some times even as a solid state amp with a proc in front:) easy to operate, very powerful, very reliable and excellent sound.

Very good for big rooms

I took 2 of them for my rehearsal room - its for 40 sqm and 4,5 m ceiling. So it's very enough for it and the sound is very clear and has no glitches. 12" Loudspeakers gives great sound and you really should think about taking them.

Quality for price winner

One of the most impressive speaker I've ever used in this category. Perfect for smaller events, like dj performance in weddings or private parties, but also perfect for monitoring. I can really recommend it !

Very Clear

I use a couple for DJing with subs and stand alone for some speeches. It's not the loudest speakers but have enough power to cover 150 persons. The mids / mids-high of this speaker are impressive. Highs are clear , lows are typical for 12'' woofer. I think are the best recommented uses for me are DJing , Speeches and voice monitor.

Pros

+Very clear sound

+DSP / limiter

+Light / easy to carry

+Very good construction quality

Cons

I'd like a little more power

Solid and crisp

Im doing both discos and gigs with speach. To get a more wide and longer sound profile I went for a pair of ZLP 12P.

I already have the 15" and by adding these 2 I wanted a complement but I really can replace the big one with these ones most times when I expect a small crowd as they are really crisp and also solid in the base.

The main aspect for me is that all I bring have to fit inside my car. These give some space for other stuff.

Bad? these have some kind of extra feet in the back and they do make the cover a bit hard to get in place but hey, the make them stable.

The DSP adds some extra features and I only miss one thing there, a delay function!

Amazing!

I originally wanted to get the ELX version but couldn't afford it went with these. Wow i am so happy with them!! They are great the built in DSP is a dream super simple to use but with so many options! The versatility is great load of options with them. I am so happy with them! No i just want the pair of matching subs!

I had them out with another pair of passive ELX's i own and I actually preferred the sound of these!

These are super! Stop thinking about buying them and just get them!

Really impressed with the sound quality of this piece of kit and the sound out of it. Use it for Irish traditional music and have to say it is really easy to set up and get going.

Really nice speakers

Having used a brand other than EV's for many years, I got these as a replacement when I was unsatisfied with a new order of my old brand. I am very pleased with them and so is my singer wife of 50 years.

Great little box

I use these speakers in a variety of applications - main speakers in rooms up to about 150 people for DJ's, vocalists and presentations, and also as monitors for bands, vocalists and dance productions. After using them for a few years, I'm very happy with how they have performed, and my clients are happy too.

Appearance - sometimes how a speaker looks can be as important as how it sounds, and these are good looking boxes. They look the part for conferences and weddings, etc. Additionally, the EV logo puts a smile on the face of the artists I work with before they even start the sound check!

Sound - great for the price, they sound as good as some more expensive speakers I've used. They do need a little eq when used as monitors, but this is to be expected. My clients regularly comment on how good they sound, particularly the DJ's.

Power - they're not the most powerful speakers on the market but as long as you're realistic about what to expect at this price point, they are very capable. I've used them as mains in rooms up to about 150 people and as monitors with 9 piece funky soul bands where they have performed admirably, but I feel this is about the limit. You may get more mileage out of them by combining them with subs.

Features - the built in mixer is handy if you just need a mic or background music for drinks receptions, etc. The easy to use DSP is pretty useful, with a selection of EQ presets. Be careful with the "club" setting though, as it significantly boosts the bass causing low end feedback in the mic which can be difficult to control with typical DJ mixers.

Build/reliability - these are nice and light which makes loading and setup a breeze even if you are on your own. Some online reviewers have raised concerns about the build quality of these speakers but that appears to have been from an early production run, and I've certainly not experienced such issues with any of mine. As for reliability, I have 4 of these which see use most weekends and have had zero problems after 2-3 years.

Conclusion - excellent speakers for the price, versatile and a joy to work with. Will be buying more of these in the future and would definitely recommend to others.

Excellent at the price range

An excellent speaker at the price range along with the assurance of a great brand like EV. I bought it to use for sometimes as a monitor for the band I am in but also are using it for small duo gigs with drum machine/acoustic guitar / double bass and 2 mics. I am using this as my main PA speaker along with a The box MA120 cheaper monitor on the floor. It sound very good especially compared to the monitor, the detail and width of sound is obvious. It should be as its more than double the price, I'm sure there are much better powered speakers but they also will be double the price of the EV.

As the EV has a built in Limiter it took a while to balance my full mix to not trigger the limiter to kick in on the speaker. Keeping every signal around Unity did the trick in the end, the result though is a good sound but not huge volume. However there is more than enough volume for say a small bar of 100 plus people. I think adding a second top and a sub will give better headroom for volume. I also tried it to playback music from a laptop and then an iphone with great results also a pub DJ would be delighted. The onboard DSP is a great useful feature which lets you select your usage as well as E.Q options available to you. There is a small bit of background hiss at higher volumes but staying below 0db will minimize this to nothing. So in general I'm very happy with it and will be buying a second one soon.
