If you like not-so-tight strings, that is definitely a go! For my hands it felt spot on. I play a lot of Marcus Miller, Jamiroquai, Marvin Gaye and Motown records in general (James Jamerson full time), so dynamic is important for me and I don't like stings without response and punch - this set of strings delivers everything I need. Durability is also important, and so far the tone has changed just slightly (2 months of use), so I'm very happy with the result. It is, overall, one of the best string sets I've played so far.

The Warwick Black Labels are just the strings for some grooving metal sounds. Combined with a Bass with active Humbuckers these strings provide a very strong sound with strong mid-range, alot of bass and some high-range. The sound could be best described with a harley davidson's roar , but can also produce some decent mellow sounds, depending on your finger-style playing. The slap sounds aren't very convincing, the strings lack a decent portion of high-range for that. For it's price of around 30 bucks these strings are a good alternatie solution to higher priced DR strings, but offer about the same sound.

I like a very bright sounding bass sound and these deliver brightness without sounding harsh. When I put these on my bass sound just comes alive. If you like a bright sounding bass that cuts through the mix these are great! I tune them up half a step to C-standard and I don't need to make any neck adjustments since they are very stretchy. Most people say that steel strings are rough on your fingers but I would not say that about these strings. Comparing these, for instance, to Dunlop nickel strings these are very easy on your fingers. When it comes to quality they sound very bright and nice for several weeks. Then they lose a bit of their top end but still sound very nice to me. Bought these as I wanted some lighter gauge strings, but still with plenty of low end 'guts'... and I'm very pleased with them. The definition in the tone with these DR strings is just superb. The notes ring out with clarity and the B-string is especially good - taut and clear (always a 'dealmaker' for me with any 5-string set). I've had them on for a couple of months and they still sound good with plenty of life left in them. And I've already bought a second spare set for when these need replacing... Great strings. Love 'em!

As usual for D'addario strings these are excellent sounding and feeling. The low end is crisp and smooth really letting you hear the low notes which is a hard feat to achieve this far down. The strings are a dream to play on, smooth and flexible giving a great amount of physical feedback when you pick but also not feeling feel flimsy or breakable. It's easy to see why some bass players never change their strings when they have access to strings like these, they feel like they'll last a life time. All in all, grab these strings, I bought these to put on my 4 string bass and they're a dream to play and listen to.

These strings are by far the best strings I have ever used. I play nearly every genre of music and they are still yet to fail me in any way. I have these strings on 3 of my (very different) basses and they make them sound amazing and the exact way they should sound. The clarity you can get is amazing! These strings do everything for me. The crisp clear high end and also the beautiful, warm low end is astonishing. Not many strings can do that! I am in an alternative metal band. I play fingestyle, but I also slap quite a lot. These strings have a great tone when using both techniques. I have never had a problem with cutting through the mix. The strings also stay in tune pretty good during long rehearsal sessions. To me, Rotosounds are extremely reliable. For over ten years of using them, I have broken only two strings, and in both cases this was after months of daily playing. However, I do wish that these were available with a 130 gauge string. Actually this cannot be considered a downside, I would say it's more like a personal preference. Highly recommended!

These are great string but the sharp hi end tone does disappear very quickly and you are left with dead sounding strings so defo a good buy if you are are a person who changes strings regularly to keep that fresh sound or a player who likes to quickly obtain that more dead sound not good if you like a long lasting consistent tone if you are after a longer lasting tone string then i would sugest R. COCO or DR strings also i have found that using this gauge of stings (40s compared to 45s) is much easier on the hands (especially when playing longer gigs) with out much loss of warmth.

At first the strings were just fine for drop-c (cgcf) on my Epiphone Thunderbird pro. But after just a week or so they began to sound dull and became black more and more every time I used the bass. They stayed sounding 'a little' dull even being more or less completely black but it wasn't what I hoped for so I bought different ones. Why four stars when sounding a little dull and three stars when becoming black after days? Well I didn't use them on a five string and they weren't bad, just not what I wanted and expected.

More than a year ago now, I bought a cheap used 5 string bass because I needed one to record my own song, turned out to sound prett good, but the strings were completely dead and, not having that much money, I went for the cheapest stainless steel strings I could find. I was blown away by the quality and tone of these strings, I'm extremely happy with my purchase and the strings still sound decent today. This gauge is good for standard, half-step down and whole step down tuning, but I managed to tune my bass to drop G# and it still had some clarity and tightness to it. Stainless steel strings are known to be bright and metallic sounding, so if you're a metal, punk, rock or pop bass player you should definitely try them out!
