Duesenberg Fairytale Lapsteel Goldburst
Based on 2 reviews
A very unusual instrument part way between lap steel and pedal steel, more versatile than the former, and easier to move around (and much easier to play) than the latter! Only alternatives are custom built instruments, which are even more expensive that this one! Very well made ( as are most of Duesenberg's Guitars) and incorporating some neat ideas but still pretty expensive for what it is, but there aren't many alternatives! Arrived very quickly in perfect condition, accompanied by the case in a separate box !
Gretsch G5700 Lap Steel

This instrument is laid out very similarly to an electric guitar. Single input jack, a tone pot and a volume pot etc. All of the hardware is good quality, very solid and durable materials. I've used it a lot and the hardware hasn't tarnished much at all. It's design allows you to play with the back of the instrument resting on your lap in a seated position, so you look down at the fretboard as you play. If you want to play and stand, you'll need to put the instrument on a keyboard stand as it doesn't have a way to attach a strap to it. Open tunings work best on this instrument. The quality of sound is good, it has a warm, bassy tone and is very clear so every note rings out nicely. You need to play with a sound bar or bottleneck slide, so it has a very distinct sound. Playing with a...
Recording King RG-32-SN Lap Steel
Based on 6 reviews
The Recording King RG-32 is a great starting point for anyone looking to try a lap steel for very little outlay. It’s almost as cheap as building a home-made “Diddly bow”, only this is a very serious product. Recording King is a company steeped in Down-South 1930s American Musical history now outsourcing some products to the Far East but not to it’s detriment. The Guitar is a beautiful Sunburst finish with a white Pearloid neck and the Body is Mahogany which helps the sound of the well voiced P90 Bridge pickup. The String through body is another great addition for tuning stability and the guitar actually arrived fully in tune which was unbelievable. The sound is very clear and you could lose hours just toying with this through an amp. This is a great instrument for...
Recording King RG-31-NA Lap Steel

Despite the fact there is no intonation saddles I must say the instrument is pretty well tuned...I bet not exact, but for the nature of this instrument is not really necessary. The finish is good, except for a bump on the "perloid fingerboard" mark surface, seems like they cutted it a bit too long and the last bit towards the nut is a bit lifted...not a biggie tho. The instrument is rather light, I expected a heavy one, good that is not. The pickup sounds nice, be aware that under certain circumstances (a very bright setup on the amp or multieffect) it gives buzz hum unless you touch the strings...I've checked the electronics and the ground cable and everything seems in place. In my normal Jazz setup (fender amp, compressor, delay, verb) the output is very clean. I would...

Harley Benton Slider II Lap Steel w/Stand
Based on 35 reviews
I am really happy with this instrument so far as I certainly wasn`t expecting it to be so well built for the price! The paint job was the only thing that seemed a bit rushed in it`s construction, hence 4 stars for quality, but it has stayed in tune since the day it arrived when I first tuned it.I recorded it and it sounds great. No problems with the electrics or anything loose, even the strings seem decent. The stand is stable enough and the tone bar has enough weight. It does it`s job perfectly and I can see it giving me a lot of pleasure playing it.Well done Harley Benton!
