Harley Benton American TrueTone Reviews
Unbelievable!
Fender sound at a ridiculous price. It's very organic and flexible covering different sounds. Perfect for pedalboards where you need an Amp-in-a-box and also for recording straight to the mixer.
Can't go wrong.
Achieve some great tone for a great price
Best inexpensive Fender amp sim pedal on the market.
At this price you would be hard pressed just to try one out.
Great effects pedal for this price!
Greetings from Russia) Great effects pedal for this price! There were doubts, but after listening to them, they disappeared! I recommend buying without hesitation! Thank you for the best service!
Great purchase
I recently bought this pedal as I wanted one but I had never used a pedal before so I wasn't sure what I was looking for but I settled on this one and I have had no regrets it has a great, affordable price and gives me a versatile selection of sounds.
I have noticed a lot of buzz since getting it but i think its just because of the added volume from the distortion. I'm sure there is a way around this that I'm not yet aware of but despite the buzz its still definitely worth the low price tag.
great value
you can't go wrong for the price. But this is a great pedal regardless of price, for that american tone
An excellent base for emulating a clean channel for a cheap set
Large tuning range from clean, slightly loaded sound to 70' gain.
In general, a cheap and good device to understand what you love about the sound and how you want to build a guitar amplification circuit.
The main disadvantage is that it makes noise in the bypass and has a background in operating mode.
Not worth it for most people
From the recording perspective......
This is not a good sounding pedal. It has been compared to fender tube amps and it really couldn't hold a candle to them. It does indeed try to emulate that fender sparkle and it is only 30 euros. But Mcdonalds is cheap, would you serve it to impress anyone?
When this pedal is on all the dynamic characteristics of your guitar and amp (or even a passable audio interface) are lost. it is hard to describe what happens but it is easy to hear. It is an unpleasant deadening and compression of the sound. 2-d might explain it.
This is a 15 dollar distortion box with a 15 dollar eq. what can you possibly expect from that.
You are better saving up for a good clear eq pedal and a decent distortion box. this will serve nothing good for recording, logic pros inbuilt amps are better.
a lot of pedal for little money
+ price!!! cheap option for starters
+ solid built
+ easy to use
+ great sounds from clean to distortion
+ looks good on your board :)
- don't have anything to put here really
I don't have a lot of experience with pedals and this is my first, but the range of sounds that you can get out of this pedal is amazing! Especially when you look at the price. I don't think you can beat that.
Obviously I haven't used any other overdrive-type of pedals, but I am satisfied with the quality that I hear from my amp. So even if there were better overdrive pedals (for more money), I'd still consider this one, too, because for home users, practicing in your room/home studio etc, this is more than enough. But again, I don't have a lot of experience :) but again, this pedal isn't in the top 10 for no reason.
If You have no combo it's Your choise!
Sounds very good for such little money. Use with guitar in cover band.
Les Paul, Tube screamer ant this one - all I need for pop, bluez, indie and rock-n-roll, reverb is used from mixer. It can be used with cheap PC speakers for home practice.
If You have no combo it's Your choise! Better than any processor under 250 EUR.
Dissapointing
I bought this because the many positive ratings here and elsewhere. Guess I expected too much, or I may have got a bad one. The good: It is possible to get quite good Fender tones from it. The bad: The footswitch makes a loud mechanical noise and feels cheap. The ugly: It is not true bypass, so when in bypass-mode it sucks the sound out of the guitar. And there is loud hiss both in bypass and on mode. I think the NUX Solid Studio seems like a much better alternative, and of course 4 times the price.
excellent affordable no hassle solution to recording guitar
This plugs right into my interface, via a DI to get a balanced signal, and with a few tweaks gets a very usable amp-like sound for recording. For the money, it is fantastic. Of course there are better, but this is plug and play.
Very Good Pedal
This pedal has saved me during lockdown, I wanted to get a full sound from my Blues Junior and this did exactly that for me. It acts as a Cab simulator and can enhance the sound of any tube amp in order to create iconic amp simulations usually in the fender style. you can drive it really hard as well and use the voice knob to dial in how full you want the overdrive. I love using this pedal as it is easy to use and looks really vintage and cool, honestly I was so surprised at how well it performed and I am excited to see how I can use it in my live rig when live music returns
This effect is great !
I'm super happy to have this effect personally, extremely versatile , many great sound can be taken from it, and its a price killer! strongly recommend !
Direct to PA
I use this as a "Preamp" with my dirt section feeding into it and my modulations/time based pedals going after it and that's all you need to gig amp free! I've tried with multiple OD and DS pedals like the TS, Soulfood, etc and takes pedals really well
In a band setting, nobody even notices that you're not using a real amp.
Hopefully, the pedal will not break down as the build quality is amazing, if it does, I'll not think twice before ordering a new one.
TOP product
This is better than 200€ similar products.
I'd buy again if stolen.
Perfect idea in a very good price.
Maybe the best price/value ratio
Frankly, I have been avoiding this brand as something percievably low-end. But a friend of mine who is a professional and much experienced musician has recently recommended this pedal to me as a good versatile overdrive and, even more importantly, a decent amp simulator that does the same job as the legendary Sans Amp.
Well, my first impression with this pedal is very positive. First off, it is built very well. No quality issues here. The body of the box, the connectors, and the pots seem to be very well made.
Second, despite my expectations, the pedal does not add noise to the signal to any noteworthy degree.
Third, given the price of the pedal, it might be one of the best choices currently on the market. This reminds me of Bugera tube amplifiers a few years ago when these were offered at a more than affordable price. Now the price is about twice as high. Shall the same happen to those Harley Benton pedals? I wonder...
So, I'm using this pedal as an amp-simulator/booster/overdrive before feeding the signal into the sound card and further on into Garageband. And I'm pretty much satisfied with the effect. The raw sound that I now get in the DAW is much more warm, full and rich. I'm talking about clean or only slightly "loaded" jazzy-to-bluesy sound, though. Thus, if you are after a high-gain overdriven sound, I cannot provide you with any useful advice.
Overall, this pedal is a highly recommended purchase. And it makes me think of trying out some further products by Harley Benton.
Excellent for blues harmonica
Incredibly good value and speedily delivered. This little box works superbly to replace the amp I’ve been using for my blues harps- my harmonica gear now all fits in a shoulder bag and this pedal, plus an analog delay- I’ve got just as good a sound as I’ve ever had through a guitar amp. Big, grungy and bluesy & much lighter kit to carry around with me. An absolute winner
Different uses
On the pedal board it has sound not to be compare to other more expensuve pedals, but on his own to the Focusrite it helps a lot.
Always on
A great 'Always on' pedal to give that extra sparkle to your clean tones. I sometimes gig with four different guitars and when I plug an acoustic in my board I just use this pedal to level its volume without having to go to my amp. EZ PZ lemon SQWZ!
