Harley Benton HB-60 WB 5-stars Reviews
Incredible value
After looking and listening to the reviews I made this purchase. It arrived in perfect condition and was actually playable out of the box. The sound is very nice, especially with a nice amp and good recording gear. Highly recommended. Believe the reviews. This thing is NICE!
This bass is SO awesome
I love this bass and love the tone
Helemaal tevreden
Prijs/kwaliteit top gitaar, licht speelt gemakkelijk en supermooi. Wel nieuwe betere snaren erop leggen en pickups wat afstellen.
Astonishing value
Have had some experience of HB guitars (guitarist in my previous band had two, and swore by them) but this is my first purchase.
Superb build quality, way ahead of my expectations. Honestly I have seen worse on instruments three or four times the price from 'major' manufacturers. As always, that logo on the headstock costs you a LOT of money.
Plays very well with a good variety of sounds from the Gretsch-a-like pickups.
Only slight issues would be the rather quirky layout of controls, and the Hofner style floating bridge which I've never been a big fan of, but certainly does the job.
Cracking bass guitar (and not just because of low low price!)
I love a semi-acoustic electric guitar or bass. Wanted one of these for a while and when I saw they were available again I snapped one up. Out of the box, it looked great.
Couple of very minor quality issues - had to tighten the knobs a bit (easy job with a small allen key). One of the pickups is a bit rattly in its housing so I'll fix that at some point. I may also get a tune-o-matic bridge put in, but not in any great hurry: existing one is not a problem if you accept its inherent limitations.
Some personal adjustments: I put some flats on it, and it sounds fantastic. I need to file the nut a bit so they sit a bit better but to be honest, after six months I've got used to it. Neck is a bit fatter than I usually like but that's personal preference not a quality issue. I've also got used to that too. I sanded some of the gloss finish off the neck so it's super smooth and silky. Adjusted truss rod slightly to suit my preferences.
But no complaints. For a £200 guitar this is amazing, and in itself, I really, really like it for the soulful/60s thump style I bought it for. If you're thinking of trying a semi-hollow body, get one of these. Terrific guitar.
Absolutely impressive, it's just GORGEOUS!!
I seriously can't believe it. It's not perfect but oh god is it nice. Sounds very smooth, although I recommend putting some better quality strings, it's plays easily, and for the price I'm still impressed. Goodjob HB once again!!!
Harley Benton HB-60 WB Awesome
This bass is awesome. Arrived perfectly set up and sounds great. Might buy another one.
HB-60 awesome bass
Construction on this bass is perfection, smooth fretboard, great finish
Great instrument
Nice instrument looking like a much more expensive brand.
Over all⦠it is a good purchase.
First of all let me start off by saying that this bass is an absolute looker. Always wanted a semi hollow bass but never wanted to drop a lot of cash on one. This one is amazing!!!! That said, there are a few things to consider. First, the cons. I knew that right off the bat that it would “neck dive” like crazy so I purchased a wide strap that fixed that issue. I highly recommend getting flat wound strings due to the nature of the bass. It’s totally for show for sure. I am used to playing jazz and p basses so don’t think along those lines. Think violin bass. Definitely needs fret work done as they are pretty sharp. The intonation is slightly off due to the floating bridge and you can’t adjust each string. Now to the good stuff. WHAT A FUN BASS TO PLAY!!!! I can’t put it down. Being more of a short scale bass allows me to fly up and down the neck. I have been playing more reggae/surf rock/rockabilly and it’s perfect for that. Like I said, over all it is a good purchase for my arsenal.
Superb bass
It needed the following work:
Replace the strings as the ones they come with are poor (I went with D’addario ECB81M which have a warm tone that suits the bass and flat wound so smooth to play).
Nut needed to be filed down a good bit for all strings to sort the action. Once done plays nice near the nut.
Pros:
Great sound
Beautiful finish
Cons:
Strings
Poor action out of the box. Work needed on nut.
A bit of work needed on the nut but once done it plays and sounds amazing for the price!
A true masterpiece
The craftsmanship out into this work of art has left me without words, I'm addicted to playing the bass guitar and find myself always learning on it.
IT DOESN'T GET ANY BETTER
I just received my HB-60-WB today. 4 days from Germany to Illinois USA. Outstanding. This bass is perfect fit and finish. Setup, All flawless. Amazing hollowbody sound which will no doubt be more amazing with flatwounds. I must say that I am for once impressed!
Hb 60
Great bass, smooth bottom. Old school vide..Records great.
Itâs a beautiful bass but itâs is heavier than I expected
It has a nice tone and looks far more costly than it is my problem now is to find a reasonable price gig bag or case to protect it
Amazing bass In this pricerange
I love this thing!
It’s beautiful. It’s price is amazing! I am using mine as a project and am rewiring it and changing the tuning and all sorts of things. BUT…I liked it so much as it was that I almost didn’t change it and I may buy more!
A Great Bass Guitar - Beautiful Sounds and Looks
This is the second HB-60 I have bought. The ONLY criticism I have is the layout of the volumes and tone control. Why are they so far away from the playing area? You need to speak to your manufacturer and get the volumes and tone controls in a straight line nearer to the bridge. This would make adjustment of volume and tone so much easier while playing. Just look the way Fender design their controls. Ergonomically great. If this was done it would be MY perfect bass guitar. The build and finish is beautiful, the action is great and the scale length is exactly to my liking. The only thing I have done is change the strings to Daddario half rounds to reduce fret wear.
Amazing bass for the price
The only con I can think of is the saddle bridge, it comes with a cloth underneath it that you have to take off. if you aren't careful this can cause buzzing and intonation issues.
Wow...Just Wow!
Play bass and own many different basses: Fender P-Bass, Yamaha TRBX775, Sterling Ray4, a Peavey T-40 & a Foundation, Even a stand-up bass and an EUB (BSX)...Saw the pic & it was lust at first sight...For the $, I plunged in, had her setup and a set of LaBella flats put on. That was back in July and it's Nov now and I can't stop playing it. I've gigged with it, jammed with it and can't say enough good things about it. Intonation has been good, stays in tune, easy to play (first short scale bass and I may have to add more, it's that fun). I know there were some complaints about the 3-way switch; been a non-issue for me. Prior to receiving the bass (and it was back-ordered, so I had a little wait), I toyed with the idea of swapping out the stock p-ups for some TV Jones...for me, it would have been a waste of time and money...these stock pickups sound great through my Rumble 200. This is my first HB product and it won't be my last. Every bass I own, save one, was purchased used. If I had known about Harley Benton, I'd probably have a full quiver of HB basses!
