Harley Benton TE-20 BK Standard Series Reviews
Great for the price
After fret leveling and polishing, the guitar plays great, which is not a difficult task. The tuners are stiff, but they are able to tune the guitar going back and forth, and once in tune, they stay that way without any issues.
Nice guitar, bot only for a beginner
Interesting choice for low-budget setup. Nice sound, bright with cozy low frequencies. There is some noise from guitar, but it's a base for single pickups. Only one thing isn't comfortable - bridge tuning. It'll be better to have a separate spring for each string. It'll help to tune guitar properly on every fret. Fretboard in great, it don't have anything to complain about it.
Nice job, thanks a lot for a cheap guitar with great quality.
GREAT GUITAR
Absolutely amazed with this one, it had a little fret sprout when it first made it to me, but that went away. After a $40 setup, this thing plays so well I can't put it down. You just cannot get a better guitar for this price. It's awesome.
Best cheap guitar I've ever bought.
I have 16 guitars ranging in value from under £100 to several thousand £. This is my cheapest and is also my "go to" guitar. I originally bought it for my son but I ended up keeping it. I'm back to buy abother!
Beginners Guitar
Overall its a decent Budget Guitar. I bought it as a starter and overtime as my guitar skills got better, I notice it began to let me down.
Amazing!!!
I bought this as well as the St62 and CST24 and all punched well above their weight. Sound, feel, and even setup came almost perfect. I just bought two more, and I've been recommending these to all my friends, more than worth the money.
Bought it to rebuildâ¦
I bought this guitar specifically to dismantle and rebuild, after modification, as a tenor guitar. Neck width reduced, 2 machine heads removed, bridge and nut replaced. Pickups changed. All works a treat. Very happy with my first experiment
Great base model Tele
This base model Tele sounds great and plays very well. Everyone says how Teles feel easy/fun to play and I can see what they mean with this guitar. No tummy cut, but still molds to your body well.
Nice!
Good guitar! Can't be better for this money!
Great Tele!
what a value! Have a comparable tele squier bullet and quality and sound quality even if not better with harley at a fraction of the cost.
I am not a guitar player, and bought this guitar to learn and explore .
Plays good and has a nice feeling
Made of fucking plastic
It sounds good but I accidentally dropped it from 2 inches ON A CARPET and the glass thing on it shattered
I've played mainly acoustics so started to get into electric guitars and bought myself a Squier Bullet Mustang another cheap and cheerful guitar. Problem was with the Humbuckers i couldn't really get a clean sound. This telecaster has solved that problem and has a beautiful range of good clean sounds. The stock pick ups are decent enough and suffice plenty, of course an upgrade is always optional but i'm not in a hurry to change the stock pups at the moment.
The quality of workmanship on the guitar for the price is outstanding. I was expecting to have to do alot of things to the guitar to make it playable but it came out of the box playable and all in order, no sharp frets, so buzzes or dead frets etc. I tweaked it a little to lower the action and decided to replace the nut because i wanted a little bit lower action at the nut. What was good was the nut slot was cut very well and symmetrical so it was easy putting a bone nut into it.
I'm absolutely delighted with the guitar, I have a high end Gibson hanging on the wall, a couple of high end guilds, a mid range Ibanez hollow Body, Squier Bullet mustang and a couple of others and this Telecaster is not out of place ...its a great guitar and that is stock .. hope this helps. You won't be disappointed.
Nice nice,
How do they do it, good build for the Price, WOW-ser.
I am almost a total beginner, at least in the world of the electric guitar, so I wanted some starter pack to see where does it take me. So here we go.
The pack arrived fast enough, well packaged in pristine condition. Thumbs up here.
The guitar itself (the rest of the pack I will review elsewhere) was ok. The volume know was a little bent. I managed to straighten it with a little force. No major issue here, but not a great start.
The setup is a tad bit too high for me. especially the action on the first fret is high. It goes out of tune when pressed a bit harder.
The fretboard itself and the neck is really nice. probably the best part of the guitar.
Tuners are ok. It stays in tune so it works.
The intonation is good as well. Only the lower E is a bit sharper. But it is manageable. Considering it is a 3 saddle bridge it is actually good.
The sound is really nice (unplugged) and the cheap basic combo does not do any justice. There is some buzz, which is ok. and some scratchy sounds here and there which are hard to pinpoint. I wouldn't blame guitar but who knows.
Pickups are cheap as you would expect on the cheapest guitar out there. the bridge sounds nice though. The neck pickup is perhaps too quiet, I also notice the volume difference between the wound and plain strings. But I'm no expert here. Maybe this is completely normal however it bothers me a little. Especially on low volumes, I can't really hear the plain strings on neck pickup.
However, I really like the quaky sound of the bridge pickup. I think it sounds very nice.
All in all, I like the instrument. My only reservation is the high action on the first fret. I tried to take out the nut and lower it. But it seems to be glued or stuck there, so before I mess with it I'm actually considering returning it.
Set that apart it is really nice instrument especially for the price.
very good instrument for that price
1st tele
thx 4 giving a reasonably priced way to try a tele
Great value for the money
Really good quality for this price. The hardware stays in tune all the time and the neck is comfortable to play on. A bit heavy so I would recommend it for bigger guys.
Great value guitar
I wanted to explore the world pf Telecasters. I ordered this guitar to see if it was for me. The quality of the guitar was above average. The guitar needed a setup, but it played great out of the box. Because of the guitar, I have ordered another Harley Benton ( HB-70RW Deluxe).
Awesome
It's amazing what you can get for 90 e. The guitar is awesome, even compared to my 1000 e Ibanez I honestly don't really mind which one I pick up.. well for metal stuff there's no contention due to the basic single coil pickups. Neck is great to play, sounds good.
Only negatives to mention was very mildly sharp fret endings and a nick in the bridge just where one of the strings lied (potentially could cause string breakage).
I did some basic mods to it just for fun, which really didn't change the guitar that much but while doing it I also got to see the insides of it and all the wiring, soldering etc. was very well done.
Probably the best 90 e I've ever spent.
