Harley Benton TE-30 BE Standard Series 5-stars Reviews
Incredible value for price
I initially bought this guitar just to have an instrument that I can always have near me, out of the case. You know, in order to practice a lot and not care about cleaning and caring immensely for it. But god damn, I like this guitar so much I can't not clean and care for it. It's just a very very good guitar. Sounds great, looks great, is very comfortable and the neck profile makes it super easy to play.
I can recommend this instrument to both experienced and new players. If you ever felt like having a Telecaster? Just go for it man, the price is low, the quality is great. The only small little thing is the setup, which wasn't too great, but let's be honest, that happens even with instruments valued over 2000$. All my schecters, jacksons and ibanez's had the same problem.
To conclude. I absolutely recommend it :)
HB TE30 Electric guitar. a bargain
Pros-Well made, solid not to heavy
Sound on these pickups surprisingly good
Hardware no problems,
Tuners stay in tune.
Cons- none
amazing for price, good overall.
Great guitar
At first I got worried about a lot of fret buzz, but after adjusting the rod, action intonation and pickup hight, all fret buzz disappeared completely. And after that it was heaven.
Great guitar, great feel, and great particular tone.
Te 30 review
I've owed many guitars over the years that I've been playing and can honestly say I was very impressed with the quality and sound of this guitar, straight out of the box the set up was excellent, the frets were finished well, a lot of people moan about the tuners but to be fair they are no different to a squire in quality they keep tune reasonably well and at this price point you can really complain all in all a great instrument at an excellent price.
Pleasantly Surprised
For a guitar around $100 I really have no complaints. It is lighter than my SX tele and the neck feels a lot nicer than I thought. The only thing to note is that the frets might need to be polished but overall you get a really nice guitar.
Great Entry Tele
I own several guitars from budget to high end, been playing for almost 20 years, and this was my first foray into a telecaster style guitar. After finally arriving given the current global situation, I must say the guitar is truly impressive! It needed a minor setup on the truss rod, action and pickup height, but expected since it's shipped from half way across the world.
The guitar plays and sounds fantastic! It has some weight to it and I like the grain of the ash body coming through the paint. My only gripe would be that the tuners aren't the best, but you have to keep in mind everything you're getting at this price point. Playability is where it's at and the pickups get the job done. Hardware/pickups can always be upgraded, I wouldn't be able to tell if Fender pickups really sound that much better. I would focus on the looks when shopping at this price point because truly great hardware/pickups are standard on guitars worth several hundred dollars more.
Overall, the guitar looks great, feels and plays great and has that tele spank you're looking for. Great buy for a beginner or modder.
I love this guitar!
I got my TE-30 a couple of years ago when they still had the 22 fret necks instead of the current 21.
I have over 100 guitars and I tend to play this one way more than its fair share because it is such a joy to play. I love the slightly full neck carve and the flatter 12" fretboard radius . The minimal satin finish on the neck feels nice too.
I have had no desire to "upgrade" the pickups because I love the "woody" tonal character they impart. They record very nicely and drive effects pedals well too. A bit different than the usual Tele "twang", but that's what I really like about it!
It looks like a 3 piece body and they could try to match the Ash body pieces better, but at this price it's not that big of a deal. Maybe a little more opaqueness in the finish is in order to minimize the contrast of the woods.
The only real thing that I don't like is that the Pickguard and control plate are not really replaceable. I would prefer a black pickguard to the gaudiness of the pearl variety!
All said though, despite its bargain price, this is an absolutely WONDERFUL instrument and I love the sound and feel and play-ability of it - and that's what really counts!
Best telecaster model for the price
Amazing to play, no imperfections. Just an amazing guitar.
Great vintage replica guitar
This guitar is amazing!
The ash body is very resonant and an absolute time-capsule to that vintage golden era of ash bodies made by a certain american guitar manufacturer!
The hardware is not the greatest part because come on, at this price you really cannot complain much. The neck has that baseball bat profile typical of the early 50's and both pickups sound decent.
Major upgrades would be the electronics (pots, switch and input jack) and the tuners. Maple neck is wonderful however the fretboard is very flat - it would be amazing if Harley Benton was able to to deliver at least a 9.5 inch radius fretboard. The greatest detail of the instrument is the wonderful blonde finish over the Ash.
DESPITE THE INEXPENSIVE PRICE OF THIS INSTRUMENT - THE QUALITY OF PERFORMANCE AND SOUND AT THE HIGHEST LEVEL!
Great Guitar
I'm a beginner, progressing from an acoustic. This is my first electric guitar bought to keep me busy in lockdown!. My comments are based on a novices perspective.
I bought this model based on the looks and the positive reviews on this site.
It arrived, well packaged in about a week. It really is a beauty. I'm really pleased. I find the build quality to be first rate. Gloss Finish to the body is immaculate, not a blemish.
The satin finish neck is lovely, again has an immaculate finish, easy to hold, frets all smooth, no sharp edges or rough ridges as others have commented.
I was amazed how easy it was to play having been used to the acoustic, which I now realise was not that good compared to this.
I also own a Yamaha BB424 Bass which is a decent instrument, I'd rate the construction quality as equal to the Yamaha. I don't think the hardware is quite in the same league though as others have commented. That said, all works well and feels robust enough.
To my ears it sounds great. The bridge pick up has a bright and twangy sound. Neck pick up a bit dull by comparison. Middle switch position gives a nice blend of sounds. So far, I tend to just use the bridge pick up.
If I had to make a suggestion or find any criticism at all, I'd rather have a solid opaque vintage white finish rather than the semi translucent finish which I think looks more 'classic'. My guitar has some varying shades in the wood which make it look a bit 'grey' in places. This is the draw back of buying blind on-line. For the price I'm certainly not complaining.
In summary, I'm really impressed with this Guitar and would definitely recommend.
I'd love to demo a more expensive brand to see what the extra money buys you, because for £99 I think you're getting a lot of guitar for the money.
Best £99 I ever spent!!
Love this guitar
Had this guitar for over a year. Pickups were unremarkable, so I replaced them. Touched up the frets, very minor truss rod adjustment. Didn't like the bridge or the saddles, so I replaced them. Love the maple neck and fretboard, feels comfortable and fast. Overall, quite a bargain. Wouldn't hesitate to buy again.
one of the best budget electric guitars on the market
i ordered mine a couple of weeks ago and i am needless to say very satisfied with this product. very fast delivery too and very reliable tracking. it is my first electric guitar, other than the ones passed onto me by family. this one is a great start to telecasters.
so underatted
I've been playing for 20ish years now so I am pretty sure I can give a good view on a good guitar, The write ups and pictures dont do it justice. Fast delivery even though I live on the Isle of Man and an amazing guitar for all round build quality and sound. Harley benton guitars never stop amazing me, any youtube video that reviews this guitar is worth a watch as there isn't a single one i've found that doesn't sing its praises and quite right too!
Looking for a change
I was looking for a new guitar. I bought this to test the waters and fell in love immediately. I did replace the pickups but otherwise everything is stock still.
1958
love it
fretboard a little flat
My first Tele!
The guitar is very good for begginer.I wrote this review
after same years.Always judge evrything begining of the price.I thing there is no cheaper tele with so good feeling
The guitar for the reason that i bought it was amazing.
For every begginer it is the one !!!
Amazing
Great feeling neck sounds great plugged in or acoustic highly recommended
Did you really think?
Did you really think that you can find a good sounding guitar for.... 83 euro??
And you were right!
Harley Benton made you dream come true like magican!
It's unbelivable guitar for thin money! How they do that?!
It looks good, it made good and it sounds good!
One thing that I plan to change is two first tuners (6 and 5 strings) - its tight for me.
But it's OK that guitar for 83 euro isn't ideal. Do you agree with me?
Harley Benton, keep going to become Harley Davidson of guitar world !!!!
Amazingly nice guitar
My TE-30 Standard arrived today. The finish is perfect. The fretboard and frets are perfect. No fret sprout. Fret ends are well finished. The semi-transparent white finish over the ash body is very attractive. The finish is defect free. Strings were wrapped in anti-corrosion paper with silica gel packets inside the paper (so no corrosion). The Nut is perfect. String heights at the nut are ideal and first position cords are completely in tune. The string height at the pickup end of the fingerboard is fine where it is. I tuned it and it played perfectly with no adjustments needed. It has that funky jangley Telecaster sound (which is why I wanted to add a Telecaster to my stable). I want the ash body instead of basswood (I'm a woodworker). I figured sustain would be better. Sustain is great. I have no idea if basswood would have had less. One consideration for you. This beast is HEAVY with the ash body. It weighs in at 9 pounds, 9.5 ounces. I play sitting down so the weight is okay for me but if you play standing, you might want to go with a basswood body. A GREAT guitar at a price point that is beyond belief, given the quality.
