Unbelievable bass for this price.

I took a bass straight out of a box, tuned it, plugged it and played it for 20 minutes without giving her a proper look. It was playable out of the box. Action should be little adjusted (lowered). Only set up I did, I lowered strings on saddle for a half turn and truss rod for a 1/4 of turn. I like the tone. The neck has very enjoyable profile and hand just slides wherever you want your hand to be. And of course she looks gorgeous. What I didn't like is a little neck dive. Any decent strap will correct that, but I have to mention it. Pickups screws are weird to adjust pickup height. Right P-pickup was a third of centimetre too high and I realised that screws were kinda weird but I adjsuted a height without any problems. Tuners feel cheap but the bass stayed in tune since I initially tuned it so no need to get picky. I think this bass proves that there is a difference between “cheap” and “inexpensive or affordable “. It's a GREAT instruments for everybody. Of course, she has few flaws but even 15 time more expensive guitar has some other flaws. I've been playing giutars for 15 years and I'll tell you this is really good bass.I will play her live.

Better than your average budget bass

This is a great instrument - I'm a guitarist who needed a Bass in my studio for laying down basslines and for that this is great - i'm pretty sure it'd hold up in most environments though - it is obvs budget but feels better than a budget instrument - check out some video's online - pro bass players rate it pretty high tbf

I Love This Bass!

I am a beginner bass player who never heard of Harley Benton until I check out videos of good budget beginner bass and HB was one of the basses feature and it got a great review so I decided to get one.

I love the way the bass looks and feels. As a woman in comfortable shoes with small hands I had to learn how to move around the neck. The price is great even with a $80 shipping charge to the US in Ohio. Still cheaper that a Squire by $100.

The quality is great ... very well made. How do they do it at the price they charge is beyond me. You can't go wrong getting this bass.

Amazing and affordable

Love the color and finish, very good balance weight and plays comfortable after preliminary adjustments to lower the action to my taste, and the best is that sounds grate much better than you expect for the amazing price paid. Well crafted with very decent musical quality by Harley Benton.

Great Bass once set up

I got one of these for two reasons, I don't have a PJ bass and the price.

The bass is a vibrant red colour and the scratch plate is nice too, it has a satin neck varnish and mine had a small mark I could feel but that was easily removed.

The frets were smooth along the edge and the machine heads are ok. It took a quarter turn on the truss rod to straighten the neck and after some nut filing and lowering the action, the bass now feels like one three of four times the price.

I wouldn't do this if you are unsure of what you are doing but a professional Luthier could set this up to play as well as a Fender worth a lot more.

I found the pickup setup easy too, the J bass pickup needed to be raised a little to level out the pickup volumes but once that was done it was fine.

Now to the sound, which despite some of the reviews I have seen, the pickups are good and powerful, I used a wireless system so I couldn't judge any earth buzz.

The only problem I really found was the scratch plate was not fully screwed down but that's easy to fix, also the knobs were a bit stiff but taking the covers off and reseating them solved that.

For some reason Cheap basses get looked at with the stigma from many years ago but this Bass is worth every single penny I spent on it, in fact if you bought it for double the price it was at, it would still be good value for money, but at the price of £102, it's a steal. I bought this myself, it wasn't sponsored or discounted and this is an honest review.

Great Value

I am really pleased with this bass. I own several bass guitars and bought this purely on a whim because it looked good and I am not disappointed with the finish. The translucent paint really sets it off. It played quite well straight out of the box but with a bit of setting-up became even better. I found the strings supplied were a bit too bright for my style of playing and so I changed them for a set of good quality tape wound. I also lowered the bridge saddles which gave a really good playing action. I will be happy to gig with this guitar.

Very impressive instrument

I got this instrument today and it was totally awesome. I tested it with my amp and the sound was excellent. I will use this for practising purposes and I hope that some day I will able to take this for gigs. I recommend to get this, forth of every euro.

20 senelik bas gitaristim Bu bas gitarı yedek olarak aldım... Paketlemesi çok sağlamdı, İşçilik baya güzel, sap vintage basslardaki gibi biraz kalın ama pürüzsüz. Manyetiklerini ve elektroniğini çok begenmedim ama bu fiyata güzel. Ağırlığı 4.85 gram... ben daha hafif olacağını düşündüm ama bana göre bir tık ağır. Manyetik ve elektroniği değiştirirseniz üst düzey bir bas gitar olur.

Big Beautiful Bass

I am so happy with this one. The color is amazing. The shine is deep and so is the tone. Great look and sound. I can't wait to buy more H/B guitars and basses and see what they do next

Love this bass.

I bought this bass as a beginner and love how customisable the sound is. You can use the tone dial and also choose the balance between the pickups to get your desired sound. Very good beginner bass.

Nothing (really) to complain about

I was unable to bring my 1964 Gibson EB0 or 1980s Fender Jazz or Vox AC50 and Foundation 18ins cabinet so I bought the PJ (and the 40W) combo as it was all I need and can afford and it is beautiful and I can't really fault it. Clearly I can't do a direct comparison but I don't need to.

Maybe the tuners could do with replacing and maybe the G-string doesn't have the power / depth of the other three but for what i paid it is brilliant.

I an not a fan of 5 string bases with fretboards like planks but I with probably have this modifies to B E A D for fun.

It had an advantage not many people would think of...... when a bottle of red wine is placed in front of it (with the label cunningly removed camouflaged, I don't need to share it!

Hard to beat.

I bought this Bass as my first instrument when switching to Bass. For the price I don't think you could find something better. While it required a little bit of setup when I recieved it, it continues to perform whenever I need it to.

Does what it supposed to do and a low cost,highly recommend it,why pay more.The stars i gave reflect the price point.

Great bass for little money

I was looking for a compromise between jazz bass and presision, in the end I decided to try PJ. The package arrived in Krasnodar, Russia in 10 days. Everything was packed great! The guitar looks much nicer with my own eyes than in the photo. The varnish is translucent, the texture of the tree is visible. I really liked the sound, especially the neck pickup. I recommend to everyone for a purchase!

Nice feel and sound

I played a bass years ago....a nice homemade jazz bass. Was looking for something similar, but had to settle on this....not gutted though.

A nice bass tone, the guitar is comfortable to play. The J and the P give it a nice versatility. I was worried it would be the jack of all trades master of none, but that isn't the case.

The one little problem is that the gauge of stings it came with is too big for the nut cut. I would suggest dropping the string down a gauge.
