Kenton MIDI Thru 5 5-stars Reviews
Timing as solid as the metal case it is
I bought this to sync more synthesizers to my Elektron digitone, the distributor has solid timing, the build quality is superb
definitely would recommend this for anyone who needs to connect more synthesizers together!
Great Simple Box
1x Midi In -- 5x Midi Thru.
I use a sequencer in my studio that has 2 midi outs. I coonect one of the outs to this little box and connect from it to my keyboards and drum machines.
Pro: It's small and light and takes little space in the studio, good build quality, no plastics.
Cons: I with it had a power switch, it's always on unless you unplug it.
Does what is advertised.
I'm using this to sen a signal from a master keyboard to two or three synths. So far it hasn't caused any problem, nor had any glitches. Does what's expected of it :)
Sturdy build
Kenton MIDI Thru 5
I use it to connect three Korg Volca (Keys, Bass & Beats) with one of my Beatstep Pro, otherwise it would not be possible to do so.
Little more than saying, perfectly fulfills its function, you connect it and work. Soon I will buy another one to finish connecting the rest of my synths with a second Beatstep Pro
Pros: Good finish and quality materials (Aluminum housing)
Cons: None.
Essential
Essential no-frills piece of kit for the myriad of smaller new 'midi-in only' gear that I seem to be accumulating these days...extremely light so it tends to move about a lot. Would benefit from having the LED on the front instead of the back...
Best Midi Thru box
Hands down best midi thru box. The power supply makes it very stable and I have never had any problems with these units (I have 2).
Work as a Charm
There's not much to say besides that it does it's job. It's stable and I have had no latency issues.
No cons really :)
I does what it is made for
After using it for 100 hours, I can say everything just works perfect. Good little help in studio for everyone with one controler and multiple synths.
Simple solution to a big problem
Well, not really a big problem, but an annoying one of having to deal with lots of MIDI equipment and not enough of them having throughs and also those that do add a little delay to he signal whilst it's "echoed" out.
So this little device is the solution. 1 MIDI in distributed very nicely to 5 other bits of kit.
No more delays, no more frustrations and no more unplugging /replugging cables to get the signals going to where you want them.
Buy, Fit, Forget!
does the job well
all you need if all you need is 5 midi connections .
does the job and very durable
I used mine for years and it's still here. Very reliable.
powered with reverse 9V plugs.
Simple. Perfect.
Does exactly what it's supposed to do.
Works like a charm, better than many USB midi hubs
This replaced my MOTU Microlite for the moment. It seems to be more stable and faster than it although the MOTU is connected via USB directly to my computer and the Kenton MIDI THru 5 is connected via MIDI to my firewire audio interface. But it really seems more stable and faster. There's one problem with the product though. That metal finish yu see in the picture is very displeasing to touch - it's abrasive and not smooth. Seems like an unpolished kind of metal. It really is a drag to keep this in your hand - the feeling you get is not pleasant at all.
Great little box!
I've been thinking for a long time how to connect my midi instruments as easily and efficiently as possible. This small box is without a doubt an excellent solution for a small amount of money. Recommend!
pro: Efficiently connects 5 midi instruments. It occupies very little space. Solid and compact box. Not expensive.
con: nothing
The "plug & forget about" type
For this kind of equipment, the fact that you completely forget about it after installing it the first time is a good indicator of its reliability.
Attached to my M-Audio MIDISport 2x2, it provides MIDI data feed (4 of the 5 ports are in constant use) to the numerous synths of my setup without any trouble whatsoever so far (I've been using it on a daily basis for more than 6 months at the time of this review).
This probably makes the difference with a passive thru box, I can't say for sure because I've never had one. But I can tell you that if you have an extra socket to spare, it might be worth it and you can buy this product with the confidence that MIDI chokes are a thing of the past.
Well built and useful unit
Good quality, small size, DC power, offers 1 extra out port, comparing to closest alternatives in the price range, which is of great help!
I use it to sync my gear to a single midi clock, it does the job and no issues so far to report.
Very good!
excellent product, stable and does the job as expected.
Perfect syncing
Everything works great with this midi thru
Tiny box, big use!
Very useful buying if you, like me, have some MIDI hardware that you need to control with a DAW but don't feel like spending money in a MIDI interface. With this you can assign every drum machine, synth or whatever you have, a MIDI channel and control them without any lag, and for a very cheaper price too!
Perfect little tool
It looks bigger in the photos but actually the size is quite small. It doesn't take much room and does its job perfectly.
