Kenton MIDI Thru 5 5-stars Reviews
Great
Great little piece of equipment for connecting multiple hardware. I use it to connect my TR-8. Waldorf Blofeld and Ms20 Mini via midi.
Best MIDI thru
Kenton is well known to have the most precise MIDI devices so also in this case, the interface is doing perfectly its job. I'm using it to sync vintage synths that don't have a pefect internal clock that can't be manually synced.
Does its job perfectly well
This little box saved me a lot of hassle (read: money), trying to connect my synthesizers and pedals to my scarlett 18i6. It's as simple as connecting to your laptop, opening your DAW and sneding everything to its MIDI channel et voila!
The build is quite sturdy and it just looks good. AT this price, I would imagine it's an absolute must have
Nice midi splitter
The Kenton MIDI Thru 5 is a simple splitter that sends the midi signal from the midi in to the five midi thru ports. It is very compact and lightweight, and it does the job perfectly. I haven't had any problems with it so far. It uses 9V low current power, apparently to ensure the signal strength, which I guess is better than a passive thru box. If you prefer a passive unit, choose something else. I prefer having the same signal strength regardless of the midi device you connect to the midi in.
No Brainer _ Great Little Problem Solver.
I looked at other options on here but this seemed to be the best one at this price vs. the amount of thrus & it being powered etc.. Have it nearly a year now & I'm v.happy with my purchase. An uns3xy bit of studio kit, sure.. but these things are an essential tool once you start accumulating a few drum machines or synths.
TBH I look at reviews I normally scan them & look for the negative comments to get an idea of what the product is like. This is such a simple little gadget that it would be impossible to say anything negative about it. Its good quality & works.
Really good piece of kit. Its got the steel (?) / metal case.. so its as solid as you could expect. Using it is plug & play. Does exactly what you want it to do. This thing is a small, silent and unassuming workhorse that you'll end up taking totally for granted. 5* Recommended.
Great product.
I bought this thru box to sequence my Volca trio. It works exactly as you would expect. It splits a single midi stream in to 5. Both reducing latency and allowing you to sync and sequence multiple boxes that do not have a midi thru port.
Good, small and fast
Very pleased with this 1:5 MIDI thru box. I was surprised how small and light it is compared to the old MIDIMan it replaced (expired after many years service). It needs power but over the years I have found dedicated power is often more reliable than MIDI bus power. If you need a standalone 1:5 don't hesitate, this one is great.
i whish there was 8 ports
i have been using this kenton box for over a year now. and love it and really could not live without it. as simple as that.
i suppose it would find its use in every studio with more than one device to sync or control. this is the kind of box you put somewhere and totally forget about. it just works. not a single problem since i started using it. not messages lost or such.
of course you must pay attention to what you send on the input. sending many midi notes and a midi sync might be a bit too much for just one midi lead to carry. but for controlling a few synths and sharing midi clock over many devices it is the best and yet affordable solution i have found !
