Lead Foot ABY Reviews
Good built, good price!
Works as it should. Quality built. For stage work maybe a bit small. Buttons are close to eachother.
Solid
Very useful and solid little switch pedal. I have been using it a while with absolutely no trouble. Don't let the battery for the led indicator scare you off. I have had one in there over a year and it is still works fine for the little led. Otherwise the passive swiching is great and transparent.
AB/y switch
Great for switching between two amps or to switch between two guitars going into the same amp strongly recommended it for guitarists using multiple amps
Crudely practical
A simple and Brutalist box with applications limited only by one's imagination. Very solidly constructed, with the switches giving a resounding 'click'. Insertion of a battery is recommended to provide use of the LEDs, allowing one to keep track of its settings, aided by the helpful diagram on top. This is now my default ABY switcher for various projects and I will no doubt be purchasing more.
Lead foot
First, the switch works perfectly and I would not be without it now. Now the negatives. There is no manual with it and it was a frustrating hour trying different permutations to get it operating as I wanted. The battery is difficult to fit and it would be very easy to loose the tiny washer on the silly cover. Battery life is very short and the 9 volt batteries are expensive considering it only powers the LED?s. If I needed another I would try a different model.
Does its job.
If you're looking for a cheap ABY box that does the trick, this might be the thing you're looking for. I got it and I'm very happy I did. What you get is a good bang for your proverbial buck. It works as intended. No battery needed for the switch to do its job (unless you want the diodes to work, too).
What I miss sometimes is a phase switch or a ground lift - these features would come in handy when hooking up 2 amps to one guitar, but these features come in more expensive ABY boxes, I suppose.
If you want to use two amps, you might want to consider something else. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this little thing'o :)
ABY Switch
Does what it says... this is a tiny pedalboard friendly ABY box. Works perfectly and is easy to use.
Only downside is the cosmetic design which looks cheap!! but this is it! Happy with this!
This is a very affordable and functional pedal. Allows you to choose bettewn/or two amps, usind the same guitar, or two guitar pluged in a unique amp.
The battery compartment could be improved, cause the metalic cover and screw coulb be lost easly. It's not so easy to handle it, when you need to change the battery.
On the bottom surface, could have a better protection.
They could provide a owner's manual, because it's confuse in the beginning learn how to use.
But, is a good and beautiful pedal. If you want get a Stereo mode sound, check it.
Nice simple and inexpensive A/B/Y box.
Well built and robust.
Would be perfect if it had a power supply input instead of having to use a battery.
Other than that is great for the money.
solid build for the price!!!
a simple ABY patchbox!
i do recommend using an extra out to your powersupply for the leds,
cause if you leave the jacks in it makes the leds stay on and drain your battery quitte fast
It makes what it claims to do
Overall it delivers what it promises.
It it very easy and simple to use.
To be better, in my opinion, it could be a little bit more wider so it would be more comfortable, but then it wouldn't be as portable...
Okay
I got this as a switcher between two signal chains before my amp. Its okay, does what it's supposed to at least.
At this price, I can't complain too much about it, though I do notice some tone suck with this pedal in the chain.
I would check out some of the other options should I need to look for another A/B switcher in future but this works perfectly well for my current purposes
Nice But
Nice But its making some noise - to stop the noise just dont use battery
Lead Foot ABY
ABY box by Lead Foot is pretty inexpensive but it works just as it should. If someone's out shopping for switch pedal Lead Foot ABY is a fitting choice.
Very handy
Bought this for use with my looper pedal which only has 1 input. It allows me to plug both my guitar and a mic into it using the AB function to switch between which I use to record, and saves me having to put both through a mixer which was previously my only way of doing it.
Only issue is that the signal strength of each instrument is considerably harmed when using the Y function, so I have to use 2 mics, one for looping through the pedal and a separate one for main vocal. This is fine for live shows when I have my mixer set up, but it would have been nice to be able to use just one mic when busking, and sadly the drop in volume when using the Y function is just too big to run a main mic and guitar through one pedal.
Main pro for me is that it doesn't require power of any sort, just a 9V battery for the LEDs to work and even that isn't entirely necessary, although it does make things easier. It's very simple to use, is small so doesn't take up too much pedalboard space, and seems pretty robust.
All in all a great pedal for the price.
I bought this Lead Foot ABY to switch between - and mix together - the left and the right channel on my 22500 Loper's stereo output.
To test channel interference, I used the A and B 1/4" jacks as inputs in which I sent a 0 dB (1 kHz) signal. I connected one of the parallel 1/4" jacks as output to a HI-Z input on an Audio Interface to measure signal strength. There was no change in the signal on the selected channel, but there was a crosstalk of -28dB from the non-selected channel. When A and B input were linked together, the sum of the signals was +6dB.
The buttons are fitted with just 4 cm distance between them which means that you need to be a bit accurate not to press the wrong button by misstake. The advantage is that you can easily press both buttons at the same time if you need to.
When both A and B are active at the same time, both LEDs are illuminated. Therefore - if you forgot the previous A/B setting, you can not determine which of the A and B jacks that becomes active when the Y-connection is disabled. (This could have been encoded with the use of multicolor LEDs.) The LEDs are small and sits deep in the panel and is therefore a little difficult to read in bright light and/or at a large viewing angle, but mostly this is no problem.
There was no problem to get the 9V battery in and out of the box. The LEDs are activated whenever a plug is inserted in one of the "parallel" in/out jacks.
The Lead Foot ABY switch pedal does what it is meant to do. Feels robust, and has a good price
Lead Foot ABY
Purchased the Lead Foot ABY to mix two guitars into one amp, and it works without issue. There is no noticeable noise with it in the chain and the buttons are solid to press. The graphic on the pedal itself is a little confusing, but it's pretty simple overall, and the construction is very solid. The LEDs require a battery, but the pedal functions without one, which is convenient. There is a small loss of output when combining two signals, but nothing excessive. I haven't tested splitting one signal into two amps, but this is possible too. Overall it works very well, especially given the price.
like a tank
my shortlisting was between this one and fender ( the big red one) but since this one is 10 euro less, i thought ill try it since it has got good reviews.
Indeed, it was good for what it is for. the switches are silent in the audio system no audio popping. It is heavier than it looks like and built like a tank.
it would be really helpful to post or print a connection figures especially on how to make use of the other parallel output or input.
the battery compartment door is a bit awkward to screw it back in you need to get used to it but it is not an issue. overall it is a keeper and it has valuable function for two amps setup.
Lead Foot ABY
Straight up no frills ABY switcher, well priced compared to most others on the market - there's only so much I'm willing to pay for what is essentially two switches in a box + LEDs. Solid construction.
A very useful ABY switcher...
The Lead Foot ABY is very well built. The signal signal passes through with no glitches. It can be useful as a signal splitter ,combiner and for muting. The battery connection is just for powering the led indicator lights. The price point is very good.
