I upgraded from the old Scarlett solo for two reasons - I needed more input and I needed an improved workflow. This allows me to feel like I've got a little studio at my desk. I have my synths, mic and instrument cables all neatly plugged in and ready to go. The software for setting up your output mix is a little complicated at first and doesn't seem to fit my screen perfectly, but it allows me to customize the 2 headphone mixes. It fits on my rollout desk next to my midi keyboard like a dream. I've had 0 dropouts or failures with it after 6 months of use.

I bought this to bring some analog life and add character to my Digitakt. It complements it perfectly. There are so many possibilities of sound shaping when it comes to using this instrument. There is a steep learning curve to understand exactly what is going on - but if you are already used to the Elektron workflow, you will have no problems getting a grip on it. The warmth and color it adds is amazing ; from subtle to extreme - but it is definitely there, and can be heard. The ability to use it as an audio interface and a plugin in your daw only adds to the versatility of the product. Like all complex devices, it is advisable to read the manual to get the best and most out of it. I do not see any reason why I wouldn't need this FX processing unit in my set up. It is very much worth the purchase.

Black Lion Audio Revolution 2x2

I should really give this a few more days, but I can't get over how few reviews there are on this so I feel duty bound to let you know that this is a top quality interface. Build quality. This is a cliche at this stage, but this IS built like a tank. The knobs and buttons are better than those on the ID22, I own that too. There's nothing loose or flimsy. It's a solid build. Bah humbug. Maybe it's just me, but every interface I've ever owned would hum when I plugged a guitar or bass into it. No hum with this, which I wasn't expecting and I've used lots of interfaces over the years. They do mention "de-coupling" and stuff about clean power etc, so it obviously counters the hum. Sound quality. It sounds great, big and clean. I've had the Apogee Duet in the past, this sounds...

MOTU UltraLite mk5

Nicely compact with a pleasing aesthetic, sleeker in person than the pictures would have you believe. Build quality is excellent, surpassed my expectations. The unit gets slightly warm during use, nothing out of the ordinary for electronic equipment. I use it in a Win10 home studio setup, drivers install along with CueMix 5 in a single installer, firmware update via CueMix took 30 secs, was up an running on my system within about 15 mins from opening the box. CueMix 5 is well laid out, easy to use, responsive and functional. The OLED is a nice addition and is quite useful for quick metering and there are some settings you can change directly on the device without having to open CM5 such as sample rate and factory reset. Latency performance is good, nice and stable at low buffer sizes....

Presonus Studio 68c

Great quality interface as a stand alone unit. I originally had a lexicon usb bus powered interface using Audacity as a DAW. It was OK but the better one gets the worse things seem to sound so I upgraded to this. I have no regrets. I get no artifacts appearing in my recordings as I did before. It works very well with any DAW. But once I mastered the Studio 1 artist? included DAW, It gives flawless results all of the time which is crutial for me as my main recordings are accoustic and vocal. Quality and reliability is key and presonus seems to achieve this with all of their products I have purchased.

I have had a lot of trouble in the past with the generally extremely poor sound quality from most laptops, even extremely high end ones. Lets face it inside a computer case with all that digital mush about is just not a good place for audio signals. Add to that the ultra compact nature of many laptops and its probably surprising that they get any sort of usable audio out. This box fixes all that. The output level can go extremely high, but is continually adjustable with a pot. The sound is very clean and although not quite audiophile grade is very good. The headphone output has a very slight constant hiss just barely audible at the limit of my hearing but this does not seem to be present on the main XLR outs to the desk. My manual had an addendum inside with a warning to ensure that the...

Presonus Studio 1824c

Presonus Studio 1824c

I have been searching for a professional audio interface with a decent amount of line inputs (since I have a lot of hardware synths) and a trustworthy upgrade for my Steinberg UR-44. After the necessary research I ended up with the Presonus because the specifications were attractive and it did the job "on paper". I opted for a USB 3.0 interface. There was some doubt on going for the Quantum 48/48 range but that is (way) more expensive and to be honest: after using the Studio 1824c for a while now, it does its job perfectly. The provided software is easy to configure (channel routing). Build quality is excellent, this is professional equipment! Low-latency "promise" is excellent. I haven't got a beast of a computer but once you get it set up right, the interface works...

Sound Devices MixPre-6 II

Sound Devices MixPre-6 II

This is professional, high quality and very compact device. I've been working with different hardware for a long time but I feel that I made my next with this one. I'm sound designer and I use to work doing field recording and processing and mixing sound in the studio. The Sound Device Mixpre 6 II allows with no complications move from home to outside with no problem, in a handy way and not bringing so much weight. One of the things that I really like of the second generation of Sound Device is that allows to record up to 32/192 giving me the option to transform more the sound without losing quality.

RME Madiface USB

This was bought as an alternative to the digico ubmadi, and the older express card madiface, with a view to use it for archiving live shows, recorded from either digico or digidesign consoles, though will work with any madi capable unit, and for using those archived shows for virtual soundcheck possibilities while touring. This, it does flawlessly, using any of the the DAWs Ive access to, reaper, cubase, logic, and pro tools, without any issues, or glitches, in fact, less issues than my moto 828 hybrid. In addition to this work, I needed to finish mixing an ep for a band I was working with on the road, and this unit allowed me to use the live console I was touring with, coupled with Pro Tools 9HD to act like a mobile studio, and overdub a few vocals, and add some drums, all seamlessly,...

Sonosax SX-M2D2

Bought it as a high quality compact field recording rig with a smartphone as a recorder. The preamp quality is super, very low noise, clean and flat response. Was very surprised by the quality of DA converter along with headphone amp when using it as an audio interfcae. Didn't expect that my Sennheiser HD650 can have such sound and that it will be so different from my other interface. But somehow sound becomes so open and detailed almost like through a pair of speakers. Also quite handy as an interface for a laptop for online conferencing with high quality audio (with schoeps ccm41 on top) Handling this preamp in the field is not so easy though. Requires some custom made angled mini xlr cables and adapters for audio and usb c to fit it in a custom made bag. Eventually it becomes a bit...
