Space saver

Very handy, saves valuable floor space and means I don't have to hang the mic from the top of the amp. The gooseneck can be awkward to fix perfectly into position but I've never had a gooseneck that works perfectly, its better to be stiff than too loose.

A good buy, no-nonsense and no issues using on a small Orange Tiny Terror Combo and on my Fender Deluxe Combo.

Great item

We hire PA equipment to a great range of customers. Most of them can easily work this mic mount.It keeps the floor clear and avoids the mic being nudged away from the ideal position chosen. There are a few micro cabs/combos that are not gripped but often a DI box or other packing piece makes the clamp tight..........but do tape it to the amp clamp for reliability.

Not really fit for purpose

I've tried this with a couple of mics, and it can't hold anything in place. The gooseneck bends back out towards straight, and you can't easily fit an alternative as it's a female connector on the clamp (the supplied goose neck is male-male). It's a shame, as it's a great idea in theory, it just doesn't quite work.

Good product but does not fit angled cabs or some blackstar cabs, Spring is a bit too tight. Left an indent on a few cabs which I would not be happy with if it was mine.

Useful tool - be sure to try a number of fixing positions

The product arrived really quickly - always welcome! - and was well packaged.

My main use for this was to have a mic permanently set up on my amp for quick and easy recording purposes meaning that it would be a set and forget and therefore had to be stable.

Attaching it to the amp is easy (the springs are reassuringly strong) and the mic thread is standard so pretty much anything should attach.

I had some initial problems with it sagging - however if the clamp is place over the top of the cab (rather than on the side) it resists gravity better. I've tried it with a few mics (SM57, Heil PR30, CAD Trion 7000) and it supports those fine. It would not work with large heavy condensers such as the sE z5600aII or a U87 so consider that if you are planning to use such mics.

It has supported the PR-30 for a couple of months now without sagging so am confident in its longevity.

All in all it has done what I hoped it would and saves me having mic stands taking up floor space.

Great idea, but not perfect

This is a great product idea, but the problem is that the gooseneck isn't stiff enough. I can't get my mic in any position that I desire. With some fiddling I can get acceptable placement, so it's still useful, but it's not always ideal.

Some issues...

As has been mentioned in other reviews this is 'almost' a great piece of kit. The clamp part is excellent, very sturdy and won't mark your expensive combo. The gooseneck part is not so great. If it works for your particular mic placement then fine...but if you need to bend the neck to 90 degrees there is a problem. It likes being straight and - without using gaffa tape or cable ties - the neck will straighten itself.

Stage cluttered with mic stands?

I have two of these. One at home for recording, and one in the PA rig for gigging. I haven't met a combo yet that it doesn't fit, though I bought a longer gooseneck for the one in the PA kit - as the supplied one didn't reach the ideal position on some larger single speaker combos. I've had guitarists look horrified when I've fitted one to their precious amp, but the spring is strong enough to hold firmly without marking vinyl or textured coverings.

A really great gadget as it does away with the need for a stand to mic your amp or cab. Very small and compact but stretches out to fit almost any size of amp.

Great Idea!

I was delighted when I saw this as I have had a lot of problems with setting up SM57s with my amp both live and in the studio. The idea is fantastic - and it works particularly well. There are however a couple of issues I have had with it - the Goose Neck could be a little more flexible and stable as it only just about gets the mic close enough to my cabinet speaker. As well as that, it does feel a little bit cheap.

With that said, it works quite well on the two amps on which I have tried it. It is a big space saver too and for the money you can't go wrong!

I would definitely recommend it.

Good clip, not so good gooseneck

The clip itself is *heavy.* It is very, very sturdy, though, and once you mount it to your amp, it's just not going anywhere. The finish is also very nice, it's a nice piece of kit to have in your hand, and it'll blend in with most cabs out there, or at least look decent if the thing isn't black.

The gooseneck is a tad short, and not super-duper stable – it needs coaxed into just above position rather than sitting where you stick it. All-in, not a bad piece of kit by any means, but the gooseneck is not perfect. It'll detach completely and easily, though, so if you're as fussy as I am, you can pick up another one.

Nice idea and great space and time saver, saving space on stage.

Trouble is that the supplied flexi gooseneck is too light when a mic is used, this either causes the mic to droop or move away from the cab.

I've modified mine and now use a solid bar bent to 90 degrees and it's now stable.

If the gooseneck was stiffer it would have been 5 stars.

Better than a stand....

I bought this to mic up a cabinet in a tight space where having a microphone stand permanently set up was going to be an issue. Not only is this product good for space saving reasons but it also offers a more streamlined look for any studio and also encourages for a quicker set up time as mic's can already be placed on the sweet spots of in house cabs/amps etc.

The main drawback for me is the fact that no instructions were included on how to operate the stand or any mention that a screw driver is needed for any adjustments! Other than that however this is a stable way of mounting a microphone out of the way and also offers for easier positioning with the gooseneck rather than having to move a stand or boom arm around.

Great invention!

This clamp is a great invention. Super simple to use. Doesn't take up much space. Very easy to transport.

Because of the small size, maybe the clamp is not suitable for all amps.

Millenium Amp Clamp

Extremely useful for mic'ing you amp or speaker cabinet without taking up floor space as opposed to a small mic stand. I do find that the goose neck isn't very rigid or though and tends to drop out of the desired position a lot and the rubber grip pads on the clamp didn't last long. That said it does the job.

built well and good overall finish however do not really stay where you bend them - so pretty useless being clamped onto the side of an amp cab - went back to Z bars!!

a time saver

Great value for money, it extends and it much cheaper than some other alternatives! I bought a few of these and it fits on my amp nicely. I just keep it on there now. Saves me a lot of effort having to set everything up constantly. Also it means you always get the mic in the sweet spot AND it helps to find the sweet spot quicker.

Genius invention! I would buy more and would happily recommend some to friends inquiring about them. I use nice with an Audix i5. They also save space in the car/bag instead of carrying around another three microphone stands, they're easier to carry ergonomically (they don't slip out your hand) and they're a lot lighter!

Great idea, but could be made a little better

I bought a pair of these amp clamps in order to mic up the two Vox AC30s we use in our band. Prior to this we had simply hung our Sennheisser mics from their xlr leads slung over the top of the amps and secured in place by black gaffa tape. Sometimes however, the tape can come unstuck, so these clamps seemed to be an ideal solution. However, we're not happy with the clamps so we've gone back to the gaffa!

The AC30s are big amps, but the spring loaded clamps do manage to stretch around the cabinets and hold firmly in place. The main problems with these units is the goose neck section. It's not very long, so you may struggle to get it to stretch across to achieve a decent position in front of the speaker cone in a large cabinet. Even then, the goose neck is not of particularly high quality: it does not tend to want to stay in one place, and droops under the load of even a light weight mic.

The Sennheisser E 906 mics that we use are designed to be positioned flat in parallel with the grille cloth, and it is pretty much impossible to achieve this position with the goose neck provided. I suspect you'd have better luck positioning a mic like a Shure SM58, where the mic is positioned tangentially to the speaker - especiallly with a smaller amp or cabinet.

too flexible

Don't buy this. The arm to attach the microphone is too flexible and the mic will drop down.

Buy the audio cab grabber instead.They have a fixed arm.

The goose neck is too rigid and does not stay in place. I have to use a little gaffer tape on it to position my mic to my amp.
