Compact, works fine

I really appreciate that this DI-box does not need a power supply. Also, being a compact and solidly built box, it's also easy to stack a couple of these into a small space. So you don't need that long cables either.

In terms of sound and noise, it seems to do its job fine - haven't tested that much. Price is definitely right.

Unbeatable for the price

I originally purchased this unit as backup for another DI box but as our on stage sound grew this DI box was called into action on a regular basis and never let us down.

The DI box is passive so does not require phantom power (+48V)

The box has a ground lift switch which is invaluable when trying to eliminate 'ground loops' which can occur when you have different pieces of equipment connected to different mains circuits.

The build quality is solid and my unit has taken several years of gigging now and has not suffered any problems with either operation or damage to the metalwork.

For the money nothing comes close (well there are some alternatives from another manufacturer but they are nowhere near as reliable) so I would not hesitate to recommend this model for anyone looking for a backup DI box, or a DI box on a tight budget.

Keep it simple

I have about eight of these in my kit. They cost next to nothing, so it's no problem having a few more than I might need. But on the occasion that someone turns up at a festival with an electric glockenspiel I can just grab another one out of the box knowing that everything's going to be OK.

I really struggle to understand why anyone would spend ten times as much on an active DI box with all the problems of batteries and phantom powering, when a passive unit will convert to a mic level signal (the same level as all those other mics you've got on stage anyway) and just make that instument appear on the desk along with everything else.

There's a switchable pad should you have to use a slave speaker output from an amp - rarely happens these days. There's a ground lift switch - but I have never, ever, had a hum problem when using one of these. They are the cure for all hum problems.

They're simple and sturdily built, so you can throw them back in the flight case from fifteen feet away. I guess the nuts on the jack sockets could come loose, but I don't recall having to tighten one up.

Buy yourself half a dozen. You won't regret it.

Great cheap D.I

I have 4 of these now and very happy with them, they do the job, simple and for the price can't fault them but sound quality could be a little better and pads would be nice but you wouldn't get that for this price.

Affordable passive DI that punches above its price level!

I bought this DI box as my first DI, my only experience with DI boxes being with some very bad sounding active DIs by Behringer and others. I'm using it with my acoustic guitar with onboard electronics (UST plus endpin preamp) and I prefer the sound of a passive DI box because it tames the harsh transients the piezo element produces. I tried replacing it with several other passive DI boxes costing up to about six times the price and I didn't notice an actual difference in sound quality, at least not for on stage use, in the studio I can't really say, I record using microphones. If you need a passive DI box for little money look no further! The only reason I can think of to look at something else is if you are a bass player as it lacks some punch in the bass frequencies.

Great piece at a greater price!

I was originally concerned by the low cost of this DI box but added it to my basket as i was after a spare to keep in my toolbox.

how wrong was I ? - it's been great and very well built. OK, sound wise it's not a Radial or Klark Technic but for less than £8 - you won't go wrong :-)

Recommended these to a few bands I work with and may get a couple more myself.

I've owned this for over 2 years now, it's holding up well and hasn't let me down yet.

PASSIVE DI

is a simple passive DI, the cost is really low, I thought it was of low quality, I changed my mind. attenuator has a very useful, it has a very linear frequency response and is not far to much more expensive products, a DI can not miss it in the studio it on stage

Good DI

This is a cheap and usable DI box.

It has no noise problems that I have come across and is always a great piece of kit to have in my bag for when we have problems with amps on stage.

Many people turn their noses up at it when I pull it out but all are pleasantly surprised when they hear it and all make the same comment, that it sounds just like their bass!

It has been scratched and scraped but is still functionally perfect.

Overall a very nice little product.

this little unit does exactly what its supposed to do and does it well, gain is maybe a little low so i wouldnt recommend for studio use hawever this is fantastic in a live environment!

Great!

These great little DI boxes are bang cheap and work really well! I bought a few of these a couple of years ago and they've worked perfectly ever since! Will definitely be buying some more when I need to. They do lack features such as PAD but for the price, I don't think they can be beaten!

I've since bought more for use in a church where they are used two or three times each week. They are musician friendly and we've not had any problems with them!

Also, a friend of mine has recently given me a couple of these. From the outside they looked old, battered and dented, but they still work perfectly, proving good durability.

Surprising

These boxes sound pretty much transparent on almost all high level sources. I would recommend for any acoustics with preamps, synths etc.

I have used these boxes on things like banjo's with contact mics and even then they do not fall down.

Everyone should have 2 of these in their toolkit.

For the price I'd definitely recommend having a couple just in case. It won't win any prizes for sound but the build quality of it is better than some costing 3 times as much, metal enclosure. I'd say they are a good supplement to more expensive DIs, a cheap DI is better than none if it gets the job done!

My only real criticism would be the switches are incredibly easy to knock.

Millenium DI-E

A solid little DI box without bells and whistles. The ground lift has helped on a few occasions where interference has been an issue. Does the job, and has never failed me.

Cheap, sturdy and decent sounding.

I bought 2 of these, thinking that If they're completely horrible I could use the housing for some other projects and the chips for parts.

The build quality if great, I transported them in the bottom of a bag with a bunch ()4 of stands standing on top of them (don't ask me why, bad planning) and they barely got scratched. The inputs feel good as well as the switches.

The sound had been varying for me, sometimes I get a noise using the boxes, and sometimes not, this doesn't change with ground lift, and since it's a analog/passive box I don't know why this happens randomly. It MIGHT very well have been something else in the chain, but I'm not sure.

When I record without getting the strange noise they sound pretty decent, a steal for 9 euros.

Cheap, cheerful and very very useful

This is the perfect small passive DI. I bought a bunch of these as a "get out of jail free" card. They have excelled in all instances. I use them for keys, sometimes bass guitars or the odd laptop/unbalanced input.

It's a very simple device built in a very strong housing. I've owned a bunch for nearly a couple of years and they are happily still doing their job.

I do find the sound on some inputs such as acoustic guitars to be quite thin. I would always prioritise a more expensive active DI on those instruments though.

I don't use this producte anymore! I have good reasons for that!

Hi folks. Four years ago i required for my keyboard main-outputs a solution for transforming the unbalanced signal (TRS) into a balanced ouput (XLR). I bought two of this little robust boxes (STEREO!) If you want to use a DI for the same setup: Buy it!

But: In a real live or studio situation it is really frustrating, that both DIs are not reliable. The ground lift works not allways effective. It depends on the location. In my opinion a "little helper" must be allways helpful.

I compared situations, in which i have had problems with the Millenium DI-E. Ground lift off: humming. Ground lift on: humming!!! Palmer PAN 01 with ground lift on: no humming. Palmer PAN 04 with ground lift on: no humming. LD Systems LDI 02 with ground lift on: no humming.

After that i throw the two Millenium DI-E to the trash...

I think the DI-E is more an adapter as a true and reliable direct-injection-box!

Good price

This device is very solid. The sound is good. But there is a problem with the ground lift. It doesn't work since there is only paint between the jacks and the box,so there can be a short. May be possible to fix with some tape...

Great value DI box

Great little box, use it to record bass guitar. Sounds greats and if you want a DI in would recommend this. Cheap and cheerful.

A handy little piece of kit

a decent little di box for good money i tend to use it live with an EQ pedal as i find its not quite up to a studio standard although that being said it is a very well put together piece of equipment and i have very little to complain about with it would highly recommend
