does what it says on the box

I was a little bit surprised how big this actually is.

But it's sturdy, built like a tank and heavy so it will sit solid on your desk.

Does exactly what is says on the box, the continuity tester with beeper is a nice addition.

I was thinking of building such cable tester myself but have to say that I would not beat the price tag or build quality of this one.

Well worth the investment!

Sturdy, functional but with a problem

Very good for cable testing, it provides almost all the most common socket types for audio (see the product's page for a comprehensive list).

It is quite heavy and sturdy, for the not electronics-minded maybe it will take a while to understand how to relate the lights of the front-panel to an "it works - it doesn't work" concepts (for example, to some it may be not obvious that circuit continuity is a good sign in some cases and a very bad one in others).

Also very useful the internal beeper which permits to check the continuity with much ease.

A problem I had was though in the battery compartment; some 9V batteries seems really not to fit well and tend to break contact, disabling the unit. Somewhat disappointing.

Not bad for price

This cable tester is a great size and has the means to test all the major audio cables. It is very simple to use and a compact enough size to be able to carry on gigs. The only downfall I have experienced is that the battery holder sometimes (normally when not been used for a while) lifts up out of place. (It doesn't come out, but it just moves enough to break the connection). Push it back in place again and it continues to work fine again.

Awesome device

I use this device to test my XLR cables and it works flawlessly. Built quality is also great. Highly recommended.

excellent value

gets the job done, build quality compared to price is good. Covers all the basic cables needed in a rehearsel room/studio. Easy to read.

It tests leads very easily

It's easy to use, recognises what you've plugged in and tells you if it's connected correctly. I bought it to push my order over the delivery charge limit but I'm glad I did. At a gig before I got it one of the guitarists was having problems with intermittent signal and we had to swap lots of leads and channels to work out where the problem was.

In the end it was his guitar, but it took far to long to eliminate the various leads

This is perfect!

Ideal gadget to test all your cables before going out to that gig! We provide rental equipment in southern Spain and this is an essential tool for testing cables as they come back!... Time saver!

Cable Tester

I use this unit very regularly working on guitars. The sound indicator gave up on me after a few weeks but it still works by using the led indicators. Very solid and I'm sure I'll continue to use it for a long time.

Very Practical Tool

Great price. Easy to use. A must-have for anyone dealing with multiple cables on a regular basis for easy troubleshooting of problems

Very durable product in general. However, I have had issues with the battery compartment which tends to come loose at times.

good stuff - watch for contacts

I needed a cable tester, since I have a crapload of different cables in my home studio. It is intuitive and easy to use. The only flaw I've found in it, is that sometimes the battery holder does not stay perfectly in its place, and than you have no function. But pushing it a bit moves and works fine. Another thing I've observed, that if you have a cable with bad shielding [e.g. chinese cables given for free with cheap gear] the LEDs light up, as you have contacts, but the light intensity is much weaker than the one with a good cable. Very useful.

Pratically tool

The Millenium MCT-10 cable tester has often helped me in troubleshooting and I do not want to miss him. One can see immediately whether a cable is wired wrong or faulty. The clear arrangement of the LEDs will show it also in poorly lit places. With Speakon, ¼? jack, XLR and RCA connectors he covers the main audio connectors and is so to consider also to check adapter cable.

For even more flexibility, you can use the enclosed measuring tips. The processing is OK, but the China-Speakon involve quite a lot of play, so that a plug fits in upside down.

However, this is already my only criticism. But for the price I can ignore it. All in all I can say it saves time and it does what it should.

I would buy it again.

A tool no tech/engineer should be without

This makes testing cables much much faster. Previously I would have to use a Active DI box and my mini mixer to test all my XLR cables. Then again use other methods to test the other cables such as Jack cables, Speakon NL4/NL2 etc.

Why did I have to use an Active DI box? Well because to test all three connections on an XLR cable you need to use phantom power. If I tested with a passive DI or dynamic microphone then it may still pass audio but would be annoying to find that I can't use phantom power or that the signal isn't balanced anymore and thus allows noise to come down the cable.

Testing cables this way starting to wear the connectors on them too. They are a lot more expensive to replace than this mini tester! I also love the fact that if you use any cables that do not match the connectors on the unit you can use the test leads. They simply bleep when there is connection between both ends. It also includes a battery test to make sure it isn't dead before you go to use it and it doesn't use any power until a connection is made.

Every band needs one

This is a bargain when you consider how much time it can save when diagnosing a problem, especially during a stressful soundcheck. It's an essential part of any band toolkit and I wouldn't be without mine now.

I have found this unit to be very useful when fault finding on cables and snake connections.

Cable tester

Brilliant piece of equipment for testing all types of cables, bad connections, polarity etc. Used to find cracked cablers, bad joints, dry joints etcetera - essential piece of kit for any musician or sound engineer's tool kit.

great features

i bought this cable tester because nothing is more annoying than using broken cables. the millenium mct-10 has great features so that you can check the most commonly used cables. if you want to test an uncommon plug, you can still use the probe tips. i took one star off because from time to time the battery cover doesn't hold the battery in the right place so that the mct-10 doesn't work.

Great machine for bargain price ! Great job

If your looking for something to Back you up on a daily basis or on rare occasion, this metal housed and premium socket tester is made of great parts that cost more than the price it is selling for! Never leaves you down, battery holds out for months even when not in use. I have used this machine several times above average of use and its lasted me almost a year no battery change. Good signal flow within everything it requires for testing, precision and accurate readings. A1, can't go wrong.
