Sturdy, robust, disappointing

This little tester appears to be built very well with a strong and weighty metal case. The sockets and switches seem to be of good quality too. However, there are no instructions included and to the non-electronically minded, the LED indications may appear confusing. Also, and most frustrating, is that the 9v battery compartment will not close tightly, resulting in battery contact regularly being broken or the battery falling out of the unit completely.

Kinda does the job

I guess it does the job, but there was no instructions except for a paper stating that the foot pads are made of some nasty material that will destroy a lot of material you put it on.

Sturdy, functional but with a problem

Very good for cable testing, it provides almost all the most common socket types for audio (see the product's page for a comprehensive list).

It is quite heavy and sturdy, for the not electronics-minded maybe it will take a while to understand how to relate the lights of the front-panel to an "it works - it doesn't work" concepts (for example, to some it may be not obvious that circuit continuity is a good sign in some cases and a very bad one in others).

Also very useful the internal beeper which permits to check the continuity with much ease.

A problem I had was though in the battery compartment; some 9V batteries seems really not to fit well and tend to break contact, disabling the unit. Somewhat disappointing.

Not bad for price

This cable tester is a great size and has the means to test all the major audio cables. It is very simple to use and a compact enough size to be able to carry on gigs. The only downfall I have experienced is that the battery holder sometimes (normally when not been used for a while) lifts up out of place. (It doesn't come out, but it just moves enough to break the connection). Push it back in place again and it continues to work fine again.

Cable Tester

I use this unit very regularly working on guitars. The sound indicator gave up on me after a few weeks but it still works by using the led indicators. Very solid and I'm sure I'll continue to use it for a long time.
