Rode Procaster 5-stars Reviews
Great solid microphone
A very nice, solid and sturdy microphone. It feels sturdy enough to be an improvised self-defense weapon as well if needed.
Sound sounds great as well. One thing I noticed I had to put up the gain on my Focusrite Scarlett 4i4 quite high, so I ended up getting a Cloudlifter to keep that down a bit.
Great Mic
Perfect for YouTube & Podcasts. Always pair with a cloud lifter in my experience.
Excellent microphone
I used this microphone for 4 years and is one of the best choices I found!
Great Mic
Bought this for streaming and found them to be amazing. Great out of the box sound paired with goxlr mini and it was an amazing combo. Loving it so far, great a canceling background noise, which for me was a must. Recommending this mic is very easy. So happy to ditch adobe audition... don't even need it with this mic.
Amazing Dynamic Microphone
Best Dynamic Microphone for a Hobby Streamer like myself.
Pros: Everything, the sound itself, the sturdy build, the design(I for one love it);
Cons: The low-sensitivity might come also with a disatvantage, the need of alot of amplification, but with the right gear and some $$ in plus, this microphone sounds amazingly well.
one of the best
the quality is great and sounds very very good
Perfect Dynamic Mic
I use this product for youtube videos in a not exactly silent environment and it does the perfect job for me. Have no cons about it at the moment,
Fantastic Microphone
Fantastic microphone for streaming, cant belive i went with a standard USB mic.The build quality is outstanding and the sound quality is just what every streamer needs!
Not Just A Podcast Mic
I love this mic.
I do mainly Death Metal music, and the Procaster is my new go to for several applications.
It is superb on my voice, especially with the WS2 windscreen. The windscreen applied makes the mic sound warmer and turns it to a great answer to the SM7B while eliminating plosives, so I highly recommend getting that as well.
Besides vocals, it's surprisingly good on distorted guitars! Shove it in front of an amp and behold the great results! I like using mics for things they weren't 'designed' to do and see what you get. Sometimes you'll be very pleased with the result.
And yes, I use it for spoken word as well. Again, with the windscreen on.
As well as recording purposes, I truly feel I can defend myself with this mic if needed. It's build quality is top notch and it feels like a metal pipe in my hand.
Sound like a radio presenter
Ive done several spoken word recordings with these and they sound like BBC Bias radio 4 presenters.
Great sound, great quality !
excellent microphone
The Australian guys at Rode did it again. This one microphone seems built so that it sounds good everywhere. The voice is captured with pretty much a lot of low ends, good medium, and sparkling highs. This is for radio shows, podcasting, narrating, streaming. So if you are a professional streamer, or need to narrate your own book (and turn it into an audiobook) this microphone is for you. Especially if you record in your own home, and perharps there is residual noise, it manages to reject most of it.
I strongly recommend soundproofing your room to get the most out of this dynamic microphone. It rejects lots of noise because of his supercardioid type, so it gets the voice mainly near his capsule, but if you crank the preamp or your soundcard mic channel gain too much, it starts to capture little noises around. So soundproofing your room will ensure you turn the gain as much as you want on it.
Superb quality, seems really heavy and sturdy, all metal, good Australian quality. And voice sounds fat and compressed, even with a simple XLR input in my Scarlett 6i6 soundcard. Enjoy!
Lovely podcast/ radio broadcast mic
I’ve not used any other more experience mics, and I don’t think I’ll ever need to. It’s nice and big, sturdy and heavy, which gives it a quality feel. The sound seems good, certainly good enough for me and my little radio show/ podcast. I have found , as others state in their reviews, it benefits a pre amp. I’m using a dbx 286s multi effect processor with it, with only very slight use of the eqs as the sound is pretty spot on as it is! I’ve also added the rode windscreen to it, as it seemed to pick up too much breathing.
Good for Radio
My wife is doing an online radio show and needed a good inexpensive mic for broadcasting. The Rode Procaster is great value.
Pros: Strong build, Great sound and doesn't pick up outside noise
Cons: Not the loudest mic, needs a bit of gain
Very happy with purchase
Greatly built. But gain hungry
The rode procaster microphone is absolutely wonderful. It sounds crisp and clear, doesn't pick up a lot of noise. And is built like a tank. Build quality is great and it is a heavy mic. Pouch it comes with is also very nice.
The sound quality is superb specially for the price point, and the lows are a little emphasized to give that beautiful podcasty/radio channel voice.
However i do recommend a cloudlifter or a fethead. Because this mic is really gain hungry, and i had to crank up my scarlett 2i4 to almost maximum to get decent sound without the cloudlifter
Excellent piece of equipment
Very sturdy, well made piece of kit. You won't be disappointed with it.
Top quality sound
I was looking for a microphone to use for voiceovers, podcasting and radio shows and after looking at a few different mics i decided to purchase the Rode Procaster and I'm delighted that I bought this.
I present a show for an online radio station and I swapped out the studio mic for this and the sound from it is incredible. It really does give your voice that extra bit of oomph.
The packaging is great and it comes with a protective leather case for storing it in if your not going to be using it for a while.
I would prefer the sound of this compared to the Neumann BCM 104 that I have used in other studios for voiceovers.
It also has a built in pop shield so you don't need to worry about your P's and B's
Overall this is a brilliant all rounder, I will be buying another couple of these in the future to add to my studio for when i have extra guests in my podcasts.
Worth it
I have this Rode Procaster and also the famous Shure SM7B. I use it for speech recording and I have to say, even though the x3 price difference, the recording them side-by-side (and applying EQ on top), they sound nearly identical.
If you're a hobbyist YouTuber/Twitcher/narrator, this mic is great.
You'll want to purchase an extra pop-filter because the built-in one is not good enough if you get very close to the mic.
