Shure Beta 57 A Reviews
Great mic!
Amazing mic for snare drum! A bit more boxy than a 57 but with much less bleed! This allows you to be more aggressive with the EQ later without having tons of Hi-Hat spill.
Also built like a tank, as usual with Shure Microphones.
Greatest mic on snare drums
I compared this with the original sm57, this has less cymbal bleeds and the snare body is warmer with this mic, great snare mic of choice
Shure need i say more
Here you are receiving a quality microphone at a great price. I have a couple and have multiple uses for them in my studio. As my old studio wizard once said 'if you have only a few quality mics, you have the world at your fingertips'. This is definitely true of this work horse. I have one on my snare drum and toms and with the tiniest compression this has a beautiful fat sound. Vocals also sound good through it and I've even recorded a sax with great results. Don't be scared to throw it in the mix of applications you wouldn't normally think. You will be pleasantly surprised with the results.
I personally so far have never had a problem with any shure product I own and quality in build as well as design is why. get one of these and you wont be sorry.
Great allround microphone!
Used this microphone for vocals with great results. Had the opportunity to use it alongside the Beta 58 for vocal applications and the Beta 57A in my opinion fared better. More allowance for gain before feedback. Great sound clarity! Great mic for brass and guitars as well. Love this mic, infact I'll be ordering more soon.
Best vocal mic
I use it for male vocals and it's fantastic! nice eq and warm sound. It also work great on guitar amps!
i favor it over Beta58 in a noisy band and for the fact that it can be used for voice and instruments all the same
Love it for live vocals
I use this in studio for snare, but I really love it live on my (backing) vocal. The lead singer uses a 58 and having this for my vocals really helps me cut through without too much confict whilst not having to EQ too much (but with a high HPF applied). In the typical setting with monitors on either side, its pretty good at rejecting feedback
A definite step up from the SM57
Bought as an upgrade to my standard SM57, I've so far used this for live vocals and for miking a keyboard amp in a live recording. Both times it has yielded excellent results with a noticeable improvement in clarity. Good solid build as you'd expect from a Shure mic, I'll still be keeping the old 57, but this will be a regular in my mic arsenal.
Clarity
I recently decided to trekk out my drums with some top end mics, and of course there are some natural options there - Sennhesiser 909, Shure 57, etc etc etc.
I do like playing with new ideas though, and did not instantly go for the old standards.
The Beta 57 has a very nice musical sound when used with my tee drums classic series snare, and captures the warmth and depth of the mahogany shell un like any other mic i have tried.
In the battle against thin sounding mics the Shure Beta 57a was definately my sword.
I use one on top snare and one on bottom, to get the perfect sound.
A very nice mic for acoustic instruments
This mic works well for acoustic stages. It has excellent transparency but also a good feedback rejection. It sounds great when amplifying a wooden flute and I have also used it successfully on an acoustic guitar after a pickup failure occurred. Good strong signal without risking feedback.
Great Microphone, Great Quality
A hard working all-round instrument microphone. Its got great clarity and presence for a live stage mic and a great build quality for using live/on-the-road. Would be nicer if the the clip felt a little more secure would be my only suggestion for improvement.
Good choice Beta 57A
Six months ago, became the owner of this microphone.
Working with this microphone live, removing the sound of guitar combos and snare drum, I was pleased with its sound. Good transfer of the entire spectrum of the instrument, he is easy to find the desired sound!
Good quality mic
I use this mic for backing vocals mainly, very happy with the warm sound. I find it easier then most 58s I used for vocals before as it picks up signal from slightly further away which is handy for my setup.
Reliable, Hard working, and sounds good on almost everything
Got this for Guitar and vocals back in July 2008 - its been used over and over in a studio environment and still looks like new - the sound quality is always clear and crisp - Shure make some of the best everyday mics on the planet and this Beta model is as good as the old school version
Good For Vocals
I use this mic for all our vocals. Its close to a sm58 which is industry standard making it easier to get other sound guys approval for using it on their systems. We play allot of gigs and find it imperative to carry our own mics for both personal hygiene and quality of sound. They are by no means the worlds greatest mic but I find they are definitely a step up from a sm58. They work really well on louder stages as you have to be right on the mic so as to not have other unwanted noises like drums or cymbals spill into them. a 58 will pick up everything for all around where as these are allot more focused and makes what you amplify out the front more controlled.
Shure it's grand!
I hadn't bought a microphone before, and needed one for recording vocals and guitar. Didn't have a big budget, but needed something that would be worth the investment.
A lot of searching for some advice around various places and I ended up with a choice between this and the Beta 58A. Went with the 57A because I read somewhere it was better for guitars. I also preferred it's shape to the spherical 58A.
Ordered it as part of a bundle with stand and cable.
Using it with a guitar is grand. Nice natural sound from it whether strumming or finger-picking. Just have to be careful of positioning, close but not too close that you'll knock it with your hand.
With vocals its perfect. I've a low, raspy voice and the mic picks it up pretty well. You need a stand though, it is prone to a bit of handling noise.
All around great mic.
beta 57A The all round mic
Excellent for drums, speech at a lectern and choir or coral work, this is an all round work horse of a microphone. Two of these pannned on a podium with the shure proprietary pop shields make excellent investments.
Shure Beta 57A
Bought this as a gig mic for my acoustic guitar and have found it gives excellent response right across the frequency range, I would recommend this to anyone looking for an instrument mic.
A legend microphone!
Love this mic...I mainly use it for my guitar amp. Have use it in studio and live setup and excellent in both! Highly recommended.
