SM57

There's no place where you cannot stick this mic and get away with it with reasonably good results. Good, reasonably priced, durable basic tool packed in a rugged body with decent amount of possibilities for use.

Classic!

No doubt's about this classic Shure microphone SM57 for recording electric guitars or drum snare. Very present high frequencies and low bottom. It's required in every studio. Also good for vocals during rehearsal or gigs. If you recording guitars, I recommend also second mic like Sennheiser MD421 or MD441.

Excellent microphone, wiring slightly weak

The sound from this microphone is excellent, and externally is incredibly durable, but whether it be a manufacturing error or some fault of my own, I found that the internal wires exposed by opening the body of the microphone had broken off at the terminals on the capsule after a relatively small amount of use. The problem was easily solved with a soldering iron, but was nonetheless fairly irritating.

tengo mis dudas, creo que un sm58 hace el mismo trabajo o sencillamente es mas fácil de ecualizar la verdad no lo se,

The mic is (pretty much) everything it's said to be. Really sturdy build and good sound quality. This mic will probably last forever.

But as with everything it ultimately comes down to personal preference. I find the sound good, but I definitely think there's better sounding mics, and probably for a lower price. But they will probably be as well built.

Great sounding, affordable mic!

Recently I started needing to work sound for full bands at bigger venues. As a result, I wanted a little more control over the level and spread of electric guitars and other instruments. I bought the Shure SM57 as they were highly recommended by my sound technician friends. I already have experience with the Shure SM58 too, which is pretty much the same product and has proven to be amazing.

The microphone is very sturdy and has great build quality. It feels like there is very little that can go wrong or break. It almost seems humorous that they include a small 'protective' case. I suppose its main function is to keep the mic clip and mic together? I just wish the case signalled which microphone it contained as all of the Shure mic cases look exactly the same!

As previously mentioned, I originally bought the product to mic up acoustic instruments and guitar amps (acoustic and electric). The mic works great in both situations, particularly with electric guitar amps. Its amazing how much you can alter the sound to such great effect by changing the angle/position of the mic due to how close you get it to the speaker.

Strongly Recommending

The Shure SM57 LC is a classic microphone that I’m very glad that I invested in.

I use it most of the time at home for acoustic guitar recordings and it works absolutely wonderful. I usually set it up around the 12th-fret to get the attack from the pick and blend it with a condenser microphone to get a really nice tone that’s easy fit into the mix.

I’ve also used it at several occasions to record and play live with my bass amp and so far I haven’t has problems at all, it does its job flawless. I highly recommend it to everyone that wants a reliable but an affordable microphone.

Legendary mic

This is the mic I primarely use for micing up my amp and cabinet and it works very well for that. Together with my condenser, it works great for acoustics as well!

The build quality is, just as every other Shure, superb and I bet that I could run over it with a car and still be able to use it.

Legendary

The Shure SM57 is an industry standard for good reason. These mics are invaluable to any musician that wants to mic a guitar amp or snare drum. They can be used for vocals in a pinch but the SM58 would be better for that purpose.

Pros:

Works the same, every time, all the time.

Total clarity.

Cons:

NOPE!

Best snare mic

I have tried a lot of snare mics.... since I couldn't afford this one. But you really have to use the SM57 on snare to get the right sound...(in my opinion)

Renowned Shure built with industry standard sound quality

The industry standard snare mic

Looking to mic your snare? Look no further.

The SM57 is the de facto standard for miking snare drums for a very good reason. It just works and needs minimal, if any, EQing.

Shure SM 57. great mic, great price

There is a reason that the shure sm57 can be seen throughout the world in almost every studio. The Shure sm57 is unbelievably durable. These things can take abuse and still deliver every time. The mic reproduces the sound fantastically for its price and works well on everything from guitar cabs to snare drums. I've also used it on kick drums and bass cabs.

Great product for the price.

The standard

This mic is a standard on every stage and in every studio and that with good reason. It is unbreakable and sound really well. Although I must say for guitar amps I meanwhile prefer the Sennheiser e906 because it sound a little brighter. But for snare drums and sometimes toms the SM57 still is the mic of my choice.

High standard.

One of the most common mics out there. Read any review and it pretty much covers it.

Good for recording high output sources e.g distorted guitar or percussion but less suitable for soft vocals, field recording, acoustic guitars.

Feels very solid, heavy and comes with a black bag which could have been more hard shell.

Use the creative package to include a microphone holder if you don't already have one.

for a reason

Used on guitar amp. Its legendary standard for a reason

this has probably been said but just so you wont be suprised. the cap that is on the mic sits losely, so it spins around when you handle it. though this is how it is supposed to be, and it wont be a problem if your not gonna swing around the mic in the cable like a lasoo.. but luckily i dont do so.

Timeless Classic

The 57 has been a heavily used mic for countless years, within the recording studio or live on stage. It's for good reason too. Sure other microphones can sound better on certain instruments depending on the musician or room you are going for, but with the 57 you know exactly what you are getting, which is a great microphone for a very cheap price.

The 57 is my go to mic for, like many others, snare and guitar cabinets. After decades of this mic being used on these instruments it just sounds 'right' to mine and most peoples ears. The pronounced low end and presence peak work ideally for these two sound sources and it's hard to get it wrong when paired with a good mic pre-amp.

Add to that the almost indestructible build quality and you can't go far wrong with this mic.

One of the best

Shure SM 57

One of the best mics I ever had in my home studio recordings. Its number one on the list of most important microphones in your set. For Rock/Metal music its leader of true and heavy sound. Perfect choice for recording sound of guitar amplifiers, drumms and probably other intruments. Workhorse amongst all mics.

It works perfect in all positions and setups: on Axxis, off axxis, etc.

Very good microphone for live performance as well. can be very easy pluged by XLR to any mixing desk with phantom power.

Sound: Very good, bright clean sound and contoured frequency response. This microphone got unique pickup system that reduce background noisess while recording from source. Perfect

Construction: Massive construction. Tank !, Looks well done, and can resist lots of usage damage. Well treated will stand long years.

Misc. : Selled with nice etui with reduction nut, and mic holder.

Well recomended !!!
