Always Reliable

The Shure SM57 is my first and probably my last microphone for bigger Gigs.

This micro and my Fender hot rod deluxe are a really good team.

Of course this is my only one and i may not have the biggest experience, but it sounds

really great in every situation.

Typical Shure

I have bought this microphone for live gigs with my saxophone.

The mic can handle very high volume levels on stage. This is no problem for this mouthpiece. The body of the microphone is very stabil and in my opinion it could not be crashed by falling down on stage or something similar.

It is really very well made. Typical Shure!

Our guitarist also uses this microphone to record from his Amp. And there was never a kind of feedback noise or something like this.

I do not recomend this microphone for high-quality recording in Studio. Ther are better microphones for this (neumann, etc.). But for stage it is excellent.

Perfect for a Guitar Amp - not really flexible

I bought this microphone for my guitar amp. It is perfect to get a classical sound from my Marshall AFD100.

A lot of people think, that the sound depends only on the guitar and amplifier you use, but the microphone has such a massive influence.

The classical Rock-Sound is a JCM800 through a 1960 Cabinet ... and a SM57. You need that microphone, if you want to recreate the sound of the old masters.

The quality is quite solid and you get a small bag for carrying.

The SM57 isn´t really good for singing. There are some voice which are allright with it, but usually the High-Mid peak doesn´t fit.

All in all I am satisfied with it, but you have to know that you won´t buy a linear, flexible microphone. Use it for a guitar amp or a snare and it´s perfect.

The studio and stage classic

What can you say about a product everything’s already said? Well, if you buy this microphone you’ll get what you expect and especially what you know from thousands of records. It performs really great on snare and you don’t have to experiment for hours to get a good sound of the combination snaredrum + SM57. It’s almost the same thing if you put it in front of a guitar amp. That’s what I use it primarily.

Yes, it colours the sound. It suffices to have a look at the frequency chart of the SM57 to recognize that. But it colours the sound in a way which emphasizes the major frequencies of an electric guitar. And that creates the sound you learned to love from different recordings. I wouln’t like to miss it in my microphone collection.

At last I have to say: the overwhelming build quality makes it almost unbreakable!

Perfect for Git-Amps and brass Intsruments

I was looking for a mic for my Amp and compared this one with the sennheiser e609, but the sm57 sounded better for me. It is just my opinion, i know, there are users, that will tell ju just the oposite, but for me i get the sound i want, if i mic my amp with the sm57!

Sound: I just need to raise the mids a bit in the mix and then i have the ideal sound for me. Also i like the different characteristics you hear at different mic-positions (center of the speaker, edge, or in the middle!)

Oce i lend it to a friend of mine for doing the technics at a big-band concert. There he used it for 2 trombones (pa was just supporting) and was quite happy with it! Actually he thinks of getting one for himself, because you can use it for a few instruments.

Quality: I admit, that the head is wobbling a bit, but that counts for all sm57's.

Overall: Great Mic for Amps (guitar and bass) and brass instruments!

Perfect as expected

I'm very happy over all with the SM57. Industry standard and works as you would expect.

Features 4/5 - Only because it doesn't have a Pad switch etc But not needed.

Sound 5/5 - Very clear sound when recording.

Quality 4/5 - Feels good but sometimes I feel like I might pull it apart when removing it from the mic stand.

Overall 5/5 - You really can't go wrong with this microphone

Update:

A few months down the line, still no issues. Works just as great as when I got it.

And its always the first mic I recommend to other artists.

I use this all the time primarily for Guitars, but have used it on vocals often too.

A studio-standard worldwide... and for a reason!

The construction on this microphone is just phenomenal, it feels like a tank.

I use this mic for pretty much everything, but I mainly use it for miccing up my guitar amp and vocal recording. The accompanying bag is also a nice touch!

Sound is very good. As I said, there is a reason this mic is in basically every studio in the world. You just can NOT go wrong with an SM57.

Enough said.

Classic microphone.

A classic Shure legend with a very versatile sound, works well for guitars, toms and snares, hi-hats, brass or most anything else. It's got a good midrange tone. I'm not overly fond of the sound of the SM57, but that's just a personal matter. It's not exactly a bad sound, it's just not what I usually go for. Great build quality.

Shure SM57 LC

This is an excellent microphone and it is very easy to see how it has become one of the leading microphones in production . The design is very appealing and it has good weight to it which adds to its durability . Comes with a nice leather pouch as well.

Shure SM57 LC

I purchased the Shure SM57 LC several years ago and it has served me well on many recording projects, from small home projects to larger studio projects. Placed in front of a guitar amp, this microphone gives great results, and when close-miking the guitar amplifier the microphone can be moved around in order find the 'sweet spot' in order to achieve even better sounds. However, for home recording, simply placing the microphone in front of the speaker as close as it can go to the grill without touching will provide good results every time (providing your amp sounds good in the first place!)

I also often use the microphone alongside a condensor when recording various instruments (vocals, acoustic guitar etc) in order to add a little 'grit' to the sound. I don't mean that the sound of this microphone is gritty per say, more that it compliments the super-clean sound of a condensor microphone when you are looking for a more in-your-face sound, such as with the blues or rock / metal.

This was the first microphone I ever purchased, and is also the one which I use most often. I would recommend this microphone to anyone looking for a good all-rounder for home use, or as a specialist instrument microphone for use in front of a guitar amplifier in the studio or live setting.

The world's most used micro

The world's most used micro miking guitar amps, snare drums, acoustic guitars ...

This is especially used for micro miking amps, instruments ... In entando, I've tested this in micro voice is fantastic, but not like the SM58 is very good and surpasses many computers for professional voice!

  Specially designed for high-volume non-distorting!

This micro is used by several bands like U2, Queen ... and is the micro that can not miss in any studio, be it Homestudio or Professional Studio, it is always there!

When I bought this micro, not tested before, because it is so highly regarded that it is not necessary to hesitate, just buy!

Shure SM57 is a classic!!

5 stars!

Excellent dynamic mic, great for vocals too!

Before buying this microphone, I was also seeing the SM58, recommended for live vocals, but after watching some reviews in Youtube, I decided to go for this one, as it's a versatile one, and heard that it has been used by U2 and The Killers, among other artists.

The sound is very clear and powerful, but what I really like is that there is virtually no feedback, at reasonable high volume levels, which make it perfect for live performances. I bought it with the A2WS anti-pop filter and I'm very satisfied with the results, my voice sounds different (in a good way) compared to other microphones I have used, such as AKG P5 Perception Live.

I totally recommend this microphone!

I'm very sure about this.

The Shure SM57 LC is one of the most appreciated studio-recording microphones and with good reason.

Thus looking simple (and cheap, by some), it gives recordings and live events a great sound quality; the voice is clear, no matter if the guitar sound is distorted or clean and/or is used along with Delay/Modulation effects (I know it's not meant for guitar amps only, but I haven't used THIS model for drum recordings yet). It sounds great in front of a bass amp too.

This microphone is an ideal must-have unit for a musician who wants to record tracks with a perfect sound quality, still not feel the need of having a really expensive microphone. This microphone is the best in it's price range, and NO studio should be without one.

Industry standard for miking amps

This microphone has been used on huge amount of recordings worldwide. It is a industry standard for a reason. With proper recording, sound is very good. In my opinion sound could be a bit warmer, darker. Worked very well with acoustic guitars too.

Tried and tested Industry Standard Mic

Not to much to say - the right tool for the job.

Standard

The Shure Sm57 is an industry standard microphone. For such a low price it produces excellent sound quality recordings along with a versatile and durable functionality element. I have personally used this microphone on electric guitar, electric bass and snare drum as is can withstand the high sound pressure levels associated with such instruments. Not only is it an ideal microphone for every budding music producer and pro alike, it is exceptional for live stage use due to it's previously mentioned durable nature and construction. In a live environment this mic can be used for guitar amps as well as vocals as it's cardiod polar pattern helps to prevent any major feedback.

An useful microphone for many situations

Useful microphone for every musician. This is good for recording electric guitars. Place it near your amp speaker and you get good sound just By doing that. If you like you can also add condenser microphones to capture the room sound.

Other Instruments I have recorded with this microphone include percussions (congas, djembe and bongos. It is also good for snare drum.

In addition to studio uses its a reliable live microphone you can basicaly use for any instrument. It does its job very well with guitar cabinets and drums. The SM 57 is well built and there is no fear it could break down easily.

This microphone even works as a vocal microphone for some voices in live or studio use. Like SM 58 this is a good purchase for any musician. IF necessary, The SM 57 and 58 can be used with nearly everything in a live gig or studio session.

Great!

An industry standard microphone, and quite rightly so. This is a very versatile dynamic microphone that reproduces sound well and has a very low price tag. I use these for snare, toms, guitar amps and some vocals. Everybody needs one!

Little but so powerful !

I am no sound engineer but I wanted to try and record something. I heard that SM57 were a great dynamic mic to capture guitars and snares. After buying a SM58 I wanted to get another "tool" in my recording kit. I have this friend, metal head to the core, wanted to get a demo done. Told him I was eager to learn and I wanted to help if he wanted. He said yes. Read you need to find a sweet spot on an amp, found it and we put the SM57 in front of his Marshall head. It was a pleasure ! we capture the guitars in no time, we barely touched the sound in the mix, just an EQ and a light compressor but nothing else. The SM57 did the whole job for us.

You can here what we've came up with here the same experience with my own drum kit. Place the SM57 over the snare and bang, it got it, it was like the shure got a mind of its own, knowing exactly what to do and what to capture. This is a great piece of equipment, every home studio need to have one. All rounder, small, lean but very powerful. The only little down is that the ring around the head rotates endlessly. It feels like you are unscrewing the top but you don't really. It gives me a weird feeling of "it's not robust enough". Don't get fooled. It is worth every cents.

about a...

One of the sound standards in recording and live industry. Very useful mic, you can record vocals, snare drum and guitar combos as well. It reproduces a flat mids which is actually a real sound of an instrument. It is very resistant and will serve you a lifetime.
