Shure SM57 LC Reviews
A real classic, never disappoint!
The SM57 is one of the most iconic mics ever made. It’s an industry standard, and every studio has one in their mic locker, and for good reason. It's good for almost everything, from drums to vocals. I have mostly used it for vocals, though I experimented using it on African drums, with quite good results. It doesn’t add much to the sound of it though, and can be difficult to position near the drum, so a condenser may be a better option in that aspect.
As far as sound quality is, it sounds quite warm to me, but sometimes picks up a little too much background noise for my tastes. I guess I should make my PC quieter, but it's not very loud as is. It does pick up my “record” mouse clicks (which proves
Features: It's a mic. It looks cool. It is hugely rugged and works on most anything. What else can I say
Surprised
I use it to record my eleteric guitar, i couldn't believe in such a budget price i could get high quaility recording with it!
i really recommend it!
Versatile mic
Very versatile and good, that's why we buy this right?! Works well
Great mic
Super high quality mic, sounds amazing, works exactly as a dynamic mic should.
When recording guitar amps and other instruments keep in mind the cardioid shape is greatly affected by distance so you will get different sounds depending on how close the mic is to the audio source (instrument, voice etc).
Absolute bargain for the price
The Classic!
Provides a good mid-range for the guitar tone! Of course you can combine with Royer R-121 to get the actual tone!
<3 SM57...
An undisputed classic
The SM57 needs no introduction and therefore probably no need for a review at all, since the mic speaks for itself: a reliable, robust and familiar sound that can be used for all sorts of sound sources. At that price, it's a really good bang for the buck. I got mine in a bundle with a mic stand and an XLR cable, which were pretty decent as well. If you're looking for a mic you can rely on and will instantly get comfortable with, look no further - the SM57 is a must-have in the arsenal of every studio and/or on stage.
SM57
It's an SM57. It's gonna be good at almost anything. Better at some things but good at most. It's heavy and sturdy. It has worked for 2 years and I fully expect it to last another 20.
Industry standard for a reason
Such a powerhouse of a mic, if you know how to use it. This has been on every track I've recorded since buying, and at every gig I've played. Solid as a rock also.
The staple
One of the greats, the backbone of most studio and live recording right here.
Sturdy, great sounding with snare and different acoustic speakers. Used once even on vocals as an additional mic for color. Does not clip out, can take a punch and uses well. Also can be used in great combination with other speaker mics in off axis or other recording environment. Would definitely recommend for everyone to be lying around in and kind of recording/live or if you are just starting out and finding how to record things, that have bigger gain, punch and saturation.
Check it out, you cant go wrong.
Very good dynamic microphone
It looks solid, very good for vocals.
I also use it to record my acoustic guitar, not as good as a condenser microphone but it still does a good job!
Wide range classic product!
The classic
The classic SM57.
Originally bought as a snare mic, I actually found this dull and lacking for snare.
I now use a Telefunken which is far superior.
But, the SM57 has so many other uses. I am now using one for guitar amp recording and another for the outside on a bass drum!
In both cases it captures a really nice flat sound. Some mics are too harsh or too dull in these types of settings, but for me this is where the SM57 is really useful.
It's a classic and for the money worth it
Shure SM57 - Buy one
Pros: It a Shure SM57 - Industry Standard
Cons: None, although I've always wondered why the top twists.
Quality top. Heavy, well built. Sound a bit bassy, but as a first microphone to try to record / play with eQs - good.
Itâs a 57
No need to review this, it’s an industry standard mic. It does its job best
Amazing mic
I fancied upgrading to this mic after a few gigs where I wasn’t completely happy with my snare sound out the front of house.
The SM57 sorted this problem instantly. Excellent frequency response. Nice clear quality. Would absolutely recommend for anyone Looking to improve theyre studio set up!
Super
This mic is a staple in the industry for a reason. Just super
Just Buy this
This is probably the most iconic microphone and for a reason, every studio should have at least one of these. You just can't go wrong with this mic, it has a great eq and even if you put it in a track with no FX, it's going to sound amazing. It's really easy to set up because of it's compact and lightweight casing.
Useful all round mic
This is a mic I’m very familiar with good for recording lots of thing like vocals, drums, bass and guitar amps and lots of other stuff. Wouldn’t use it to record acoustic guitar or anything like that though.
A classic
A must-have item for any studio. Suitable for a wide range of percussion instruments. Recommended.
