Shure SM58 LC 4-stars Reviews
Very good for vocals and recording acoustic guitar.
Sounds better compared to a microphone mxl 2003A. But there was a dent in the windshield. Not critical, since the diaphragm is undamaged.
Great classic mic
Does the dead, any kind of music
A classic
A classic choice needed in every sound engineers mic pack.
Sometimes you just need the roughness and toughness of a good ol' SM58!
Not the best sounding mic, but there is always a vocal that will sound better on this than on a B58 or even a D:facto II.
Most times not, but when it hits, it hits.
the most common good mic around
It's by far the most used, well known, durable, sturdy, good sounding live mic around. There's not a single tech who doesn't know how it reacts and sounds. There's not a single stage anywhere in the world with a bunch of them ready to be used. Or abused, it never fails.
But, even if it's the standard that everybody use as a term of comparison, it may not be the best for YOUR voice.
I don't love it with mine for example. There's a thing on mid frequencies that doesn't marry that good with my voice. I prefer other similar priced mics, sometimes I prefer singing with a 57.
So it may not be the best for you, but you must start from here, it's the number 1 of any mic arsenal, along with its cousin SM57.
Decent Mic
Great mic, could do with a mute switch \ button.
My only gripe is that it's not quite heavy enough to keep the Rode PSA-1 where you leave it, but with enough finagling you can have the weight of the cables\pop filter keep it in place.
great standart mic
No question that this legendary mic is really great product, very sturdy, great for live situations, but I had to replace it by BETA58 cause I play a lot on drums and sing simultaneously and the feedback issues were a problem with SM58, aswell as it was not as loud as BETA.
best live mic ever !!
good mic
good mic, dont look at that i put 4 stars from 5, it still good, i use it for singing in home studio and also i use soft eq to make it sound more in mix.
Trusted SM58. Cant go wrong for bv`s or some brass lines.
good mic. i use it for vocals with a loop station. it picks up some noise from the speakers that are 1,5 meters away and this is annoying when I start a new loop and i want only the voice to be heard. but i guess that's normal, and for its price I am happy with the product!
Bread and butter item
There's a reason it has a reputation for quality. Great little work horse! Takes a few knocks and bangs at gigs and no noticable degradation in sound quality!
Amazing microphone.
I use the SM58 for audio recording. Really great for vocal work and very durable.
Shure SM58, classic!
No many words needed for this great Mic, I have used this microphone for almost every possible application! guitar amps, kick drums, snares, trumpets, as a room mic and of course on stage!
SM58 Workhorse
Its reliable, good value and built to last. We use 3 of these live for harmonies. Cheap mics are harder to control. The SM58 LC is very clear and ideally suited to vocals not crispy enough for instrument but if you unscrew the screen you get a better hf response. The 'standard' for band mics in my opinion.
The classic
Great price for great mic !
Rating for: Shure SM58 LC
Good quality product. Very robust. Mine have had a couple of falls and still are functioning efficiently. Tight, secure connections with microphone leads.
Industry standard
This microphone has quite the reputation amongst musicians. I recorded vocals and instruments with it and i am quite pleased with it. Only problem i faced was when I recorded instruments it picked up quite a lot of bass notes. It was solved with putting the mic bit further away from instrument and lowering gain for lower frequencies in post. In comparison with e835 I prefer the Sennheiser by just a fraction.
Just Does It!
Like an old, faithful, dog, the SM58 does exactly what it has been doing for decades. It provides reliable, good quality, vocal amplification in just about all conditions. It is sturdy, well made, simple and effective.
I understand now why its still relevant
A classic, old mic. I've tested it against other big mics from Shure, Sennheiser e900 series, and the well rounded sound, extremely feedback resistant, ideal for close miking style, solidity
It will not make your voice crystal but I must say for a live setting it would be one of my first choices along a AKG D5 (C). The 58 for a well rounded sound, the D5 for brightness.
After a mic throhout test. I'd still recomend the old 58. Even Celine Dion is still using it in Las Vegas in 2016! (when she can go wired, even after seeing her with the Shure KSM she has gone back xD)
Cheers.
Still the standard
Very good microphone. The industry standard for so many years now and it will probably stay that way. Bomb proof. It avoids excessive feedback very well. Connect it to a good equaliser and you have a winning team. It is good for people who really sing into the microphone. For those who have a low volume sining voice, a condenser might do the trick better.
