It's not the standard for no reason

While some microphones might have managed to catch up or even outperform the SM58 when it comes to sound quality alone, this is not noticeable in live performances and even in the studio, the mic still performs extraordinarily. It's extremely sturdy and due to its popularity, you'll find a ton of guides on line related to it, every audio engineer knows how to handle it too as they've done it a million times. Of course, it's quite barebones features-wise but that's not a bad thing as it delivers everything you need and offers it at a great price. It's also the same capsule as the 57 so you can easily use it as an instrument mic as well. If you're looking for a super versatile cardioid stage or studio mic and leaning towards the 58 (or 57 for that matter), I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

A Classic!

You can't go wrong with this mic, a classic for live vocals and a good all rounder to have around.

Excellent microphone

sounds great Uses it to record guitar in a room that is not acoustically treated and it does the job perfectly

Industry standart for a reason

There is not much to say about a product that is pretty much perfect in my opinion. The build quality is insane, and the sound is so crispy clean that I am seriously consider using it alongside my condenser for recording, to add some live texture to the vocals. It also sounds amazing in saxophone and trumpet. If you can only buy one mic now buy the SM58/SM57 they both sound amazingly well, and when you buy it you can definitely expect a perfect product.

Sounds great & bulletproof. I never drop the mic on purpose, but it's hit stone floors hard & survived!

Very good for vocals and recording acoustic guitar.

Sounds better compared to a microphone mxl 2003A. But there was a dent in the windshield. Not critical, since the diaphragm is undamaged.

indestructible

I am a professional singer and I had this mic for 8 years! This mic got me through music university, lots of rehearsals and gigs, teaching music (to clumsy children) and recording. Great investement!

Standard un the industry

This is the benchmark of mics. Versatile and ready to be used in any conditions without losing quality

The standard quality microphone all around the world.

After years passed as a DJ, a singer and working in a radio station, there is no way I could be back in other concurrent products. Personally I like the sound of his newest blue brother, but I think is just a matter of taste about midrange dinamycs.

Great price for a great mic!

I went through 2 different mics before purchasing this one for podcasting. And I have to be honest, this has been by far the superior choice! If you're looking for something that is great quality, build and affordable - this is it!

It's a Shure SM58, what else?

This Mic never fails! It's strong, resistant, has a good sound quality and if you ever need a SM57 to mic a snare drum or somnething like that, just remove the grid in the head and that's it!

SM 58, what else? ;)
