Sony MDR-7506 5-stars Reviews
Phat not flat headphones
At work, I use Sennheiser DT-25 headphones and they are great for giving me a good sense of the quality of the audio that I am capturing during video recordings that are quite often broadcast across Europe. I bought the Sony MDR-7506 headphones to use in a home studio situation both for recording and mixing. What a difference! The Sonys are, in my opinion, giving me lots of lows and highs with a noticeably scooped middle. In other words, they are not flat. Nevertheless, they sound very detailed and give me all the sonic information I need. I use them to both record voiceovers and to mix several channels of audio for video and I feel confident, now that I've got used to them, that I can add/subtract the required frequencies in a mix. As we get older, our hearing gets worse as we register fewer high frequencies and possibly more muffled lows. These headphones attempt to give back what nature is taking away. Well done Sony. I hope that I can find some spare parts for them in years to come.
Awesome
Great sound quality. Very comfortable!
Good Monitoring Headphones
These are my go-to headphones when capturing audio on movie sets.
Excellent reproduction of the signal- the bass is a bit boosted but I find that this helps me spot issues in the recording. They provide adequate isolation from external sounds. Portable and sturdy, I can see why they are an industry standard.
Only issue I encountered is that after prolonged use they can be somewhat uncomfortable and painful to wear (but maybe my anatomy is to blame).
What else ?
I use the headphones directly plugged into my Line 6 POD HD 500, in order not to get kicked out from home by my family :)
This product is exactly what you expect from a very good headphone when you play music.
You just want to ear whats'comig out of your instrument, without any distortion or cosmetics.
PROS :
- Weight
- Amazing sound
- Comfort
- Price/benefit ratio
- Wire lenght
CONS:
- After an hour, your ears will get a bit sweaty (time ti swith to your favourite combo :)
Conclusion :
Go for it ! It's a must have !
Excellent product
Beautiful sound quality with little or no leakage. I am surprised how comfortable they aree even with my glasses on
No wonder these where the standard for quality headphones for so many years. Used to be so pricey back then. I would buy these without even looking any day!
Awesome headphones.
Couldn't recommend these enough.
Amazing headphones for its price.
I'm using them for listening for music, recording mixing, mastering every single day.
If budget is key - grab these today.
Professional headphones
These headphones are comfortable to wear with professional quality. But i also bought akg k 361 and i use them more. Mdr sound cleaner but they don't have this nice atmosphere when you listen to music. Sony are better for recording without the feeling of the akg k361.
The industry standart
If you are a musician, sound engineer or performer, you need this headphones (or several indeed). Incredible product! Forever!
Fantastic value and absolute reference
We've used the 7506 headphones since 2014 (6 pairs) in our home studios and for all other kinds of purposes among many other brands of headphones. I promise you will not regret getting these. Unbeatable and just incredibly good, true, monitor sound and (for my head) comfort. Only minus after 6 years of intensive use is the ear cover material starting to disintegrate - I've bought non-original replacements for 8,50€ as the originals cost half of the new headphone price. I ordered a couple of new pairs at the same time to give away as gifts. Heaven.
Great quality for the money
These are solid headphones with great sound and good build. Good bass, crisp highs, foldable. Rocommend.
Very Good
Very Good I liked, I use for studio recording.
A true classic!
There are better options, but, at this price tag, it's almost unbeatable.
Great upgrade from HD25!
I've been a long-time user of HD-25 for the location sound recording purposes and never quite got used to the uncomfortable and unnatural, over-emphasized bass boost they produce. While this was somewhat helpful during the live monitoring in order to keep the boom pole handling as smooth as possible, the headphones themselves were unusable for any other application. As a consequence, I often had to carry a pair of my well trusted Beyer Dynamics DT880 to listen to the rushes at the end of the day for a proper reference of what was truly captured.
When I finally had the chance to try out the MDR-7506, I was amazed by how their closed-back technology allows even more analytical monitoring than the HD-25 while offering at the same time a frequency response curve that is far flatter and natural sounding than the one of Sennheiser.
In my experience, Sony's MDR 7506 ear pads are also more comfortable than the HD25 but I haven't tried the new one they recently made available. This impression could also partly be the question of just a more natural-sounding reproduction of Sony.
In the end, these headphones are also cheaper than the HD25 so if you're an HD 25 fan, I would definitely recommend giving them a try!
In Love
I already had one for my home studio, and I've just bought another one for work, cause it's so good.
Incredible value for money. It's really hard to compete with this if you don't need wireless or noise reduction.
It's compact, and delivered with a jack adapter so you can use it anywhere.
The only drawback in my opinion is the spiral cable, which is not very comfortable.
Great Headphones
Very good headphones. This is my second pair. The sound is clear and rich with no extra bass and they can be very good reference along studio monitors. They are also good for just listening to music or monitoring vocals. The only downside are the earpads, but you can relatively easy change them with new ones.
Great Monitor Headphones
Industry standard. These headphones are neutral with a very true sound. Great for monitoring instruments and vocals. Also great for listening to music, if you are willing to take the time to EQ your sound.
fantastic
great for listening to music, not exciting for movies, but for critical listening to jazz and other acoustic music is fantastic.
perfect for music
Great earphones, perfect for using as a plug into guitar amp direct, the earphones have the power to carry tone / bottm end, and they are great value.
Great for the price
One of the most used and recommended affordable headphone. I use the to practice drums as well.
The isolation is not the best, but still quite acceptable.
Totally recommended for a beginner.
