I could not hear any difference between headphone output of HA3D and Audient id22. After all, all quality solid state headphone amps are supposed to sound the same.

+ HA3D has a LOT more headroom with HD660S

+ balanced inputs

+ full metal construction

+ battery powered

= high quality tool for jams, music or movies

10 stars on this!

I’m constantly using it in my field rig quite along time, with no problem!

It drives anything, 3 separate headphone amplifiers in a small Sound Device clone. Tank build, batteries last long,

Such a useful solution!

It is small, uses 2 AA batteries, lasts long, sounds great (if you feed it great sound) and has three outputs for sharing or comparing headphones (reason I bought it).

Know that the pots all have channel imbalances down low, which is normal for cheap ones like these, so you'll need to lower your source's volume to get out of that lower volume range if it's too loud for you.

This thing has a lot of power even with 150 ohm Superlux headphones. I fed it with my Schiit Modius through its balanced inputs. Its sound is better than all my audio interfaces, which are all high-end ones.

I also fed it with the included stereo cable from an H2 Designs MIYO's headphone output. Great sound, much bigger and visual than the already impressive sound from the MIYO. So, this Superlux is decently clean.

The pots and knobs are the cheapest-feeling parts, but overall fit and finish is very nice. I recommend this unit. Sounds nicer than I expected, especially for the price.

The swiss army knife in my studio

Very little noise, versatile inputs and outputs plus battery operation.

And it's built like a tank.

Been using it for years now and feel like it will deliver for many more.

Satisfied

Really neat little box for the price you pay. Sturdy build with quality knobs. Sound quality and preamps are perfect for video village use and battery life is long as well. Recommended product!

Best to it's Class.

Best headphone pre amp that I came across at it's range price.

Fantastic built quality, great sound and it runs on two AA batteries for a very long time!!

Incredible value, Superb sound

Possibly the best value headphone amp on the market, the HA3D isn't feature packed and offers limited connectivity, but for the right user it may be all you need.

I bought this to sit in my hi-fi rig alongside a couple of other headamps, the excellent ART Pro Audio Heampamp6 and the new Behringer Monitor2USB which has a crossfeed function. The Superlux trounces both in terms of sound, even right out of the box. Used on battery power it is absolutely silent to my ears, through a pair of Sennheiser HD800S's. It's compact and very solidly built, although it does look a bit industrial.

PRO's

Brilliant value

Battery powered (can be used with a mains adapter - not inlcuded)

3 TRS headphone outputs with individual volume controls

Solid build

Excellent sound quality with wide freq. response

Balanced (XLR) and unbalanced 1/4" and 1/8" stereo inputs

Loop out to connect additional units

CON's

Nothing at this price!

Just be aware there are no balance, bass & treble adjustment or mono function for critical studio listening. If that suits then I thoroughly recommend this unit and for the other functions there are plenty of rack size units which would happily complement the HA3D

Solid headphone amp running on AA batteries

This is a fantastic, sturdy headphone amp, with a very good sound.

I use it connected to my Sound Devices recorder to allow the film director and script supervisor to hear the actors.

The 3 headphone outputs have their own independent level knob, so they can have different volume levels depending on the headphone model.

It runs on AA batteries, i use the rechargeable eneloops.

Excellent features and build quality. The mono to stereo switch is very usefull to have sound on both sides with a mono signal.

More uses than you would expect

This works great as a headphone amp. Balanced and unbalanced inputs, will drive most headphones to very loud level before distortion, good sound, dual power sources, and runs a long time on a couple of AA batteries.

In addition, I have found this useful for other purposes. Often I need to have a line level volume control, and this works great because of its multiple input and output connectors and battery power. It is also helpful when I need few dB of clean gain, or a way to go from a balanced to an unbalanced line. It adds no hum because it is battery powered.

One nit to pick: I wish the battery cover had a retainer so it's not so easily dropped or lost.

It's a well built and useful box that I would buy again.

Excellent box of tricks

I bought this thing in order to allow an assistant to hear what I was doing while mixing. It was a bit expensive, but the size, build and features seemed to be just right, so I went with it. I wasn't disappointed - it's heavy, but that's because it's made out of some sort of bulletproof unobtainium plating. It's battery powered, and the battery housing is easily accessible (no screws). It has XLR line inputs, which is perfect, as well as TRS ins, if that works for you. The three headphone outputs have independent level control, which is perfect for when everyone is wearing different models of headphone. Most of the headphone outputs are quarter-inch TRS, but there's a parallel minijack output so that you can plug some earphones in directly without needing any adapters.

All in all, it's a solid unit, and does the job perfectly. Just don't drop it on your foot!

Pro Quality headphone preamp

Excellent features and build quality. The ONLY one of it's kind on the market with balanced XLR inputs....and nice touches like a 3.5mm output on channel 1, a loop input, and Mono/Stereo switch.
