Excellent for the money

I use these mainly for monitoring whilst recording music. The fit is comfortable both at the headband and at the ear pads. They adjust for my head size [adult] but I cant comment on how they would fit you.

I eq the mix before sending it to the headphones to make it sound more natural.

Overall, these are very good value for the money and they look nice too, in a non bling, understated & functional kind of way.

HD681

I don't like to mix a track on headphones. I use them to test, control the mix I made as I do it on any device that plays music. And they did their job.

Cheap, but not "cheap".

These headphones were bought by me after spending between 40 and 60€ for various brand headsets, which I wanted to use to practice at home. Their low price basically triggered a "Well, not much to lose here" buy.

However, it turns out that these are fantastic for practicing. Large and well padded, not too heavy, and the sound is hardly colored.. unlike the "good" headsets I had purchased previously, which usually had way too much bass. These reflect the sound of the guitar without turning it into a muddy mess and sound very close to the sound coming from the speaker (Blackstar HT-110 10" cab with a HT-1R head).

Definitely a great alternative for home practice at a low price.

the red is different as in the picture

the red doesn't look as nice as in the pictures. its much more brighter. the quality is ok for the price. but the cable seems a bit thin. but it works for me since 2 months.

Good sound for a good price

I bought the Superlux HD681 for listening having two headphones to listen to music with friends. My first pair is the Beyerdynamics DT-990 Pro.

Sound

Sure the Superlux ones don't sound as good as the Beyerdynamics ones but they do the job.

Comfort

I have to say that I don't find these headphones comfortable but they are wearable. Just don't expect them to wear like much more expensive headphones.

Quality

The Superlux feel a bit cheap and will probably not last very long if you don't treat them with caution. The cable is ok but the plastic doesn't look very sturdy.

If you want a cheap pair of headphones then buy them but dont expect any miracles. You get what you pay for.

Great headphones with a good value for money

I purchased this item as a budget model to complete my already existing headphones.

In this price category you can't compare them to a headphone made by Beyer, AKG or Shure but these ones are quite good enough as monitor headphones when recording, especially wnen several headphones are needed (for example choir or band recordings).

Overall manufacturing quality is good, no complaints about it. The weight is quite agreeable, the jacks (including adapters) are golden, and the cable is long enough for every recording purpose.

I also use it for playing my Kurzweil PC361 "quietly" and for having a different choice in a mix comparing to the sound of my other headphones Shure SRH-940 which were eleven times as expensive.

I really can recommend these headphones!!

Thumbs up!

Cheap but good

The Superlux HD I bought to practice even at low volumes can . Especially in the evening and on Sunday . I did not want to disturb my neighbors continue . ICh the headphones have connected to a Roland Boss BR 80 multi effects unit . I play bass and guitar.

I am very happy with the sound of the headphones provides . Especially when you consider what the headphones will cost .

Of course, the heights come out not always ideal. At high frequencies arises with the headphones a distortion which is not very nice. This, however, only at high volume. In the bass range , the bass is very clear. However, the headphones also has problems here when it gets louder . Then the bass muddy easily . The centers are the headphones in my opinion the best.

So I recommend the headphones especially for guitarists . For bassists with swabs.

Processing proceeds in order. It expresses nothing . However, the bar is really not very stable. I'm curious how long the headphones work.

Great price, great product

For €20 I am finding it very hard to fault these. Good sound quality, robust, well built and has two jack options. The smaller jack is hidden under the larger jack, all you have to do is screw it off.

I plug mine into my Bugera V5 tube Amp when my Girlfriend needs a break from my playing. They plug into my Bose computer speakers too, or can be used with an MP3.

Who needs "Beats by Dre"? I highly recommend these. As for studio use I cannot comment, but for €20 what have you got to lose?

I can only imagine how good the more expensive Superlux products are.

Good Purchase

These head phones are fantastic for the price, They great in studio for vocal tracking as they open backs, great for pitching. They are pretty bad for spill as you'd expect, Great product.

Good set of cans

I bought these for recording and mixing at home on a very tight budget. I saw a few other reviews and decided to take the plunge as, let's face it, the price takes some beating.

For monitoring these do a nice job. Every sound is easy to pick out and adjust. I listened to a few of my old recordings done on some cheap hi-fi headphones and the difference was unreal! These are now a very valuable tool when recording and mixing my own stuff (now I just need a bit of talent!).

Overall I would highly recommend these if you're on a budget. If you spend more you can do better, but at the price/performance ratio on these are undeniable.

Not the superlux..

Comfortable but quite heavy, after half an hour of continuous use of tired and sore ears, too much lower and high frequencies (my opinion). Work in them as for me - hard. However, to record people they love. Liked that long wire and gold plated TRS adapter!

Incredible value for money!!!

I purchased these headphones instead of the similar but much more expensive AKG K-141 and honestly I am impressed by the quality. I would have paid two or three times the price and I would still think they are good value.

These are excellent headphones anyway, and for the price they are a crazy bargain. The sound is clear and defined (considering they are semi-open, not closed), with plenty of bass. The sound quality is as good as the Sennheiser ones I have been using for about 4-5 years now and have become a point of reference for me in this category. Considering the Sennheiser cost more than twice as much back then, I think the Superlux are the best value for money headphones I have found.

I have seen some reviews saying that the ear pads are a little stiffer than on the AKG and therefore uncomfortable, possibly because the headphones tend to be rather tight against your ears. Personally I cannot say I have noticed it, but then again I have always found the Sennheiser too tight and uncomfortable after prolonged use, so if anything these are an improvement. For the price this cannot be a major issue, and anyway the ear pads can be replaced easily.

Bottom line, buy these. You will not be disappointed. The AKG K-141 may be better, but at less than one fifth of the price, I have no complaints with the Superlux.

Incredible value

I was very pleasently surprised with this headphones. Dynamic range like no other and the price is bargain. Thick and hight quality cabel and adapters, easy adjustment. The speakers are indeed loud and I would prefer volume control on kabel, but that is not so important.

Bang for the buck

I bought this headphone as I was trying to learn mix some of my band's music. I wanted a cheap studio headphone and gave the Superlux HD681 a try.

Out of the box the Superlux comes with a simple nylon carry bag and a 1/4" jack adapter. The headphone is made out of plastic and looks cheap. I plugged it through a focusrite sound module to hear the sound quality and was astonished with the clarity of the sound and the details that I could hear.

However, while mixing I realised that the headphone has a bit more treble. My mix were always had too much treble when I listened to them on hi fi speakers and headphones.

I encountered the same problem while programming tones for my guitar on my multieffect units. The tone that I hear on the Superlux always had more treble when I plugged my guitar multieffect on full range speakers.

I'm still using the Superlux to listen to music from time to time and it still holding well. However, if you want to buy a headphone for mixing I would suggest that you look for something else.

Excellent for the price.

Got 3 of them. They sound perfect and they are sturdy enough. The plastic head band is torn after several years of use, but it is a fairly easy fix.

Great headphones at a low cost

Bought these headphones for silent practice, recording etc for the keyboard and guitar. It's really hard to review such a thing as headphones since alot depends on your own taste and flavor but I really liked these. They are comfortable and a bit "basey" compared to other headphones I have. I like the fact that the adapter plug is scrwewed on to the smaller plug as well since it gives you a sence of "non-breakage" and secure attachement. Do they sound natural? It's hard to tell because your instrument will sound different depending on what amp you're playing through, the speakers, the cabinet etc. Headphones, especially cheap ones, will probably never give you the same or similar sound as your amp would, but still, in my opininon these sound good and I would buy another pair if I needed new ones.

I did not expected that....

There are some good quality copy or low cost product on the market and you know sometimes we don't have money to buy the original manufacturer's legendary masterpieces just for try out.

I wanted a good monitor headphone for rehearsing, just to make sure I can hear the vocal as clear as possible, but....

....but when I started to use the HD681 I could not believe it. It hit it's triple price brothers in sound quality. Very detailed and balanced soundscape what it gives us with fruity bass and shiny high. Now I'm planing to use it for music making at home. Also more than perfect for general music-listening or average usage.

It seems that ain't no problem with the headphone's body. Looks massive, and made from longer lifetime than it's sisters in same price.

I don't have contract with the Superlux but bravely recommand anyone who would like to have a cheap and good headphone.

Excellent headphones for minimal moolah

Briefly: These are excellent headphones for a very very small amount of money. I bought these for my home studio and have been using them for the past 3 years. No complaints whatsoever. The sound characteristics are clear and crisp, the bass end is deep enough. Also the shape of the cushions is such that they do not pinch my head or ears or make me sweat after long hours of mixing music. And yes, I have been using some of the name brand headphones earlier, so I know what I am talking about!

Value for the money

This clearly looks like a copy of a more expensive AKG and I would say, for general purposes (excluding mixing, which on headphones is always a challenge anyways) you cannot beat the price ratio value. I've had mine for 4 years now and still works perfectly well. If I have to point one thing out, it is a bit too heavy on bass frequencies so never use this for anything else than youtube listening, gaming, tracking.

Superlux HD681

Very impressive looking, large and well put together, anyone would think they're a more expensive model. Sound is very crisp and clear, volume won't win any awards as they're semi-open but still a great buy. Long lead and 1/4 inch screw-on adaptor included.
