Superlux HD-681 Reviews
good for the price
Worth it for the price.
Best cheap headphones?!
If you are looking for an inexpensive solution for your home studio, I highly recommend these. MIght also check the EVO line, is also very good or even better.
Good for price
I have these headphones for while in my studio.
They are really crapy for records, becouse they make a lot of noise and you can hear it in your record.
They have good high fq sound, but not that good at bottom end.
I usually use them to check out if my mix do not have to much high fq in mix and also for ESS sounds in vocals.
Good for backup, not for critical decisions
Using better 200? headphones as a main ones in my studio for mixing and mastering. Bought Superlux HD-681 for other people when recording. They are comfortable headphones with a good sound, especially for the low price. For more delicate sound procedures, a better set is almost a must, but for hearing the backing track when recording, they are more than enough. Quality is on the level of the price, so these are solid built, don't feel too cheap and look sturdy enough not to break if they should fall.
Great
I did my research before I bought these and I was strongly considering the Evo version instead. In the end I'm glad I made the right choice for me. I was attracted by the ?studio reference? claim of these headphones but was afraid the bass was going to be too anemic for my needs. I shouldn't have feared, there is plenty of bass here; it feels like what you hear at cinemas and home speaker systems with subwoofers. But the bass is tight and well defined, not muddy at all.
The specs show that there is a hump beyond 5khz in the frequency response but I haven't found them harsh at all, but maybe they get a little tiring after a while. A YouTube reviewer suggested using a graphic equaliser to tame the highs if this bothers you. Google Chrome has a free equaliser app BTW.
I don't understand the fuss about the looks of these cans. They look OK to me and it's not like I'm going to wear them on my way to the shops to buy milk!
Can't comment on durability yet.
These might not be ?studio reference? and I'm glad they aren't. I bet they're great for most people?s needs, but make no mistake the sound quality is good and at this price they are a no-brainer.
Last positive is that these are low impedance so should work OK with mobile phones, etc.
Incredible sound according to price
I use it for playing electro guitar and drum on studio recording.
Bass frequencies are pretty good. Bass-treble frequency balance is great! The frequency range is sufficient to price.
I advise for who want studio recording works without spending a lot of money.
I can hear the voices clearly when i playing drum or guitar.
I liked the quality of the material. It does not hurt my ear but it sweats when I use it for a long time.
I use it for a long time, so, product is very durable.
Great quality , with only one flaw
So the pros are very straight forward on this product , it feels well built and it give great sound quality, I cannot emphasise that enough!!
the only downside for me , and i feel this is more a gripe against headphones in general rather than specifically this set, is that after prolonged use ( lets say 2 hours) my ears to getting really hot from being trapped within the headphones.
The headphones themselves aren't producing the heat, rather its my ears being trapped and heating themselves up.
This is an issue i have with most headphones and sadly this pair is no exception.
Realy very good, quality awsome, sound very good, for this price amaizing headphones
Great headphones at a low price
I use these for practicing the drums and they're brilliant. They don't cancel surrounding noise as they are open, but they are loud enough to hear a metronome or music through.
The build quality of these is excellent. I've had them for a few months by now and they still look new. I expect them to last ages.
I like the length of the cord especially and the fact that it screws into the headset is good as i think this will prevent the connections getting worn.
Quite comfortable to wear for long periods but i've never come across a set of headphones that you can wear without some small discomfort.
Overall highly recommended and very cheap for a quality item.
good for the money
for 20 euro i was blown away...if youre already spending the 200 euro for free shipping and need cheap headphones, get these...
Nothing special
I use 12 sets of these for vocal group or small choir recording sessions. They do the job perfectly. They are not a studio grade headphones, of course.
Best headphone I've used
Really love the sound and how it encases my whole ear, love it.
Good cheap studio headphones.
They are nice headphones. Decent audio quality, quite confy. Only downside is that they do not last long...
this headphones are best you can get for that money!
i am very satisfied
Worth the money !
Very good quality and sound for price. really worth the money
Very good choice for low budget
Sound choice for low budget.
Good quality and trustworthy
Ive been using these in 6 years now
After 6 years of use, I am ready to write a review.
First off, these are durable! Theyve gone through a lot and moving from location to location.
These are outstanding headphones, wow! Im still in awe, the gaming experience is powerful! The music experience is intimate, and for all music and soundwise, its superior! For the price, there is no better product! I think these headphones outbid most of its competitors. I have been purchasing superlux products mainly because of its quality and durability, the price is a super bonus!
I bought mine in 13.12.2010, Im still a big fan and the headphones are always with me. Its sensitive enough to use it with cellphone or whatever musicplayer you must have, laptop etc. I use them for my studio and gaming. Very true, and close to flat dynamics, allthough a bit more on the bass side, that is hardly a bad bass, believe me, but its a nice fast responsive punchy bass, and not a roomey mushy bass.
Highly Recommended!!! 5 Stars++
Resonable for the money
The headphones are ok.
I use them for office. Being semi open they are easy to listen to most of the time without fatigue.(I have a pair of closed Audio Technica ath40x and the bass is too much at office...I get annoyed with them:)
Build quality is not outstanding but they are sturdy.
Sound quality is acceptable. The highs are crisp but lack finesse.
The bass is a bit weak but that is good for me at the office.
Hope this helps.
Great Product for the Money
Got these as an additional pair for my music room so other people could hear themselves over the noise of my drums. They're great quality for the money with a long cable for flexibility so you're not tied to the PA or Amp.
Very good quality, low price
Been using these for over a year now and am very pleased about their sound quality.
They are open back, but this is not of any concern to me since i use them mostly in a quiet enviroment and from time to time when jamming with some friends which give the possibility to communicate without having to take (one side) them off.
My old sennheiser hd850 got little playing time since i purchased these.
Very detailed, might be a little bright for some people.
Would buy these again without any doubt.
