tc electronic PolyTune 3 Tuner/Buffer Reviews
Works well, looks great, worth the money
10 months in use - 0 trouble with it.
Polyphonic tuner feature looks interesting, but I couldnt bring myself to start use it. Use it as a usual tuner, its great for such scenario.
Extra power output is awesome - I can use 1 power supply for two pedals.
I forgot to unplug the power supply from my polytune and digitech drop pedals for at least 2 days once - digitech is dead, polytune works perfect. So, my poor attention test is passed by TC Electronics PolyTune 100%!
Awesome LED-colors, looks really good.
Amazing!
It has excellent quality with magnificent features I have no idea how I lived without it
great tuner
A must-have on any pedalboard.
Polyphonic mode is handy, but beware that it's not as accurate. I mostly use it to quickly see wich strings are out of tune, and then I tune the strings individually. If you want super accurate tuning it has a strobe mode too.
+ bright display, easy to read on stage
+ bonafide buffer built-in (switchable to true bypass)
+ good value considering the buffer alone costs €55
- polyphonic mode is not very accurate (the other modes are)
very good tuner
very good, plenty of options, precise and dynamic. Robust.
Have not test the buffer so far.
Overall good quality (inside could be painted ?)
Really Good Tuner!!!
Tunes my 5 string bass and electric guitar easily.
Display is clear.
The capo tunings are handy.
Great bang for the buck!
Does it's job, might introduce a little bit of noise to the signal due to being a buffer and not a true bypass...
Meh
Using a Telecaster, this tuner responds poorly (i.e. hard to tune / read screen). You should probably consider an alternative.
perfect tuner for the money
nothing to say about it just great !!!
Good tuner
Good pedal, good quality, works fine. Good buy
Great tuner, a bit confusing at first
This is THE tuner pedal out there. Don't look any further ever, and stop asking reddit how it compares to Boss or D'addario (two brands that I otherwise really appreciate) - it doesn't. This is in its own ballpark.
I mean you get:
- True bypass if that's what you want
- An excellent buffer if you prefer (great thing to put right at the top of your chain if you have passive pickups)
- 3 different view settings (I use the classic one)
- A 9V output to daisy chain another pedal (because who wants their tuner to take a spot on their juice box, amaright?)
- Infinite tuning options, and you can set up your favorites
- Send in different settings to the pedal from your phone through the pickups (you read that right)
- Optionnal Always on display (so that you can pretend to know your fretboard by heart)
- Polyphonic tuner is a great thing
- Killswitch
- Great build quality
I must forget something, but as you see, I do believe it's a no brainer, I don't see any reason to get any other tuner at that price point on the market at the moment.
The only down side is that it may have too much options to start with and can be overwhelming at first if you want to use the whole alternate tuning thing. But nothing an hour with the manual and many tutorials online will not get rid of :). If you only need normal tuning - it's really just plug and play, so you won't have that issue at all!
Great tuner
Just a great tuner, feels sold and has lots op tuning options.
Display is nice and bright. Would buy again.
Top Gear
Doing the job perfectly, can't go wrong when you invest in this pedal.
I'd always recommend this one.
The fastest gun in town
This is the fastest tuner around. Its brother (the neck clipon) has the same engine.
Let alone accuracy, this is *fast*, twice faster in spotting the note name than a Boss TU3. Or a TU2, of course.
The best tuner pedal on the market!
It has really nice and bright display that could be easily seen on dark stages. The built in buffer helps a lot especially if you have a few more non buffered pedals on your pedalboard.
I also have a Polytune from the first version that is still working great after more than 10 years of abuse.
Definitely recommend. Go get one!
Number One
Nicer sounding buffer than most pedals, it's first in my chain
Very accurate
This tuner is a well known tuner for its accuracy. Don't need too much to say. But the glass is sketched easily.
Great for bass
Very well built pedal. Great for a 5 string bass, no problem detecting the low B string. The build quality is exceptional. The switch itself moves nicely. The display is bright and large enough to see whats going on.
A must have.
Good quality and useful tuner pedal. It's easy to see in a live situation and (obviously at home). Easy to use and works really good. As expected, does not disappoint.
Fast and accurate
Great tuning pedal, a weird quirk is that the pedal is marketed as having a buffer. Which it does, but it is in bypass mode when you get it. You have to remove the backplate and set a switch to buffer mode to engage it.
To use the polytune feature you have to select the correct tuning for it, that is logical but switching between is somewhat cumbersome. Two buttons to go up and down a tuning would be better. Now you have to cycle all the modes to get back to the first.
Solid performer
Very reliable. Didn't really use the buffer much but the tuner is great. The simple fact that I don't have to hush up the room to tune my guitar is the greatest thing.
It's considerably more expensive than alternatives currently on the market, especially if you take into consideration smartphone tuners which are free of cost, but if you feel you need it you won't be disappointed.
