Great Microphone at a bargain price

It is not worth messing around with non Bass Drum Mics.

This can take the sound pressure levels easily and it gives a warm tone.

Used with my Zoom H2N it also adds low end depth to the Toms and Snare in a live room. Has a built in Mic Stand adaptor which further adds value.

Will definitely buy other t.bone Microphones in future.

Reinforced bass drum sound

The look of microphone is very convicible. Placing on stand is quite easy and plastic wing-nut hold microphone rather well on position. Connecting it to the mixer (Behringer Q1202 USB) requires gain on the control at 9 o'clock. I do some EQ (high and low freq. are at 3 o'clock). The microphone is placed some 10 cm from resonant bass drumhead, pointing at 6? drumhead hole. That way get enough punch and low-end, but also clean attack. I have tried to record without t.bone microphone (with only two condenser mics), but the bass drum sound didn't have enough definition and power. So, using it just for micing bas-drum, the t.bone is very good and affordable solution. I have tried to record bass guitar with it, but that wasn't good: too silent and thin, it has to be used only for its designed purpose.

Great Value Mic

Just used this last night for the first time at a gig to mic up the bass drum & also a cahon in a rock/indie/punk band. First thing I noticed was that the connection to the xlr lead was very tight and wondered whether it was too small, it turned out okay and it was a tight/snug fit, but I suppose that isn't a bad thing as it is less likely to come apart, so let's be postive here - perhaps it's an intentional useful feature.

My initial reaction to the sound captured by this mic on the bass drum was astonishment, how could an item so cheap be capable of such good results! The lows were very well defined and precise and I was very happy with how this sound blended in with the rest of the kit.

Next up we used this to mic up a cahon. Probably wasn't my first choice for this but it was the closest and easiest thing to sort as there wasn't as seperate mic available at the time. Well yet again I was very impressed and quite relieved actually that this handled this cahon with ease, Two people from the audience remarked afterwards how great it sounded. Boom!

So in summary, this mic is such great value, I would definately recommend it and don't waste your money on a named brand unless you have money to burn.

t.bone BD 300

The t.bone BD 300 is a rather affordable dynamic microphone, best suited to micing bass drums, brass or other sound sources equipped with low frequenzies. Other features are frequency range which is 20 - 10.000 Hz, impedance 70 Ohm, polar pattern is supercardioid and maximum sound pressure level 137 dB SPL It comes with integrated stand holder and soft leather carrying bag which protects the mic from dust, scratching etc.

I have used the mic for several years in home studio projects. Must say it doesn't fully compare to the high end 'pro' bass drum mics, but definitely 'a bang for the buck' in my mind. Also I haven't had any problems with it technically, seems to hold it's working condition as a sturdy built dynamic should.

Overall, for a budget and Reduces session can or small room is a good choice, beyond must go upmarket.

t.Bone BD 300

I really like this mic as it really brings out the 'click' in my bass drum. Its low end response is not that good but it is good enough to mold an excellent kick drum tone in production on my DAW. great for its price!

Build like a tank and sounds like it's big brother!

Based heavily on the AKG mic of the same purpose but only a fraction of the price this was an essential when we were looking at upgrading equipment in the band! It gets thrown around an awful lot and has yet to even slightly fault! Excellent product!

Cheap. Cheerful. But consider your sub

This microphone is good for mic'ing up kick drums, or anything bass'y and punchy.

Although, I can't say it's as good as a shure or AKG. T.bone mics are very good, but I feel this mic is just a little bit lacking. The bass is ok, but not quite as rich as other mics.

So I would suggest considering what sub you are using. There's no point spending tons of money on an expensive mic if your speakers aren't up to the job (and vice versa). Therefore if you haven't got the best sounding PA, you'll probably get away with using this mic.

It's cheap, and therefore always worth buying and trying. But not the best sound. Although saying that .. I haven't been able to overwhelm the mic yet. So that's good.
