It's not just a pre-amp

Well where to start. For those who are looking for a single mic pre amp with tone of a saturation and distortion. You should go and look elsewhere. BUUUUT. if you're looking for a Clarity, clean and shiny signal with a chance to add a little of a warm saturation and not only that. It's you choice. To specify this unit is not just a regular 4 I/O gear. Literally i'm able to squeze 8 mono or 4 stereo signals in and out with additional send and return for outboard synth pedals at once ! crazy. And the best thing with in-build AD/DA convertor which sounds truely amazing is you can send 8 outs using adat cable into your interface. say goodbye to tons of cables! And for new users. Jitter your clock with this pre amp- it helps conversion a little.

Excellent equipment!

Very useful device, especially when you used in a digital studio with AES / EBU inputs. Get +8 channels via AES / EBU AD converter. Very very simply to use. Excellent, warm preamps with the possibility of 1176 fixed the compressor. Very useful! Internal and external word clock with up to 192 kHz. Bulti analog limiter for all channels on digital output will help prevent digital cliping.

Excellent!

Professional and versatile pre-amp

Unless you're recording very quite and exposed music this is a stunning and musically versatile pre-amp. Each channel has independent controls; Phantom Power / 15dB Pad / Mic or Line input / Low Cut / Phase Invert / Insert points / Slow or Fast Compression / classic VU Metering for Input, Gain reduction or Output AND the option of colouring the tone from a clean solid state sound or dialing in a warmer, more, "vintage" tube sound!!

With 4 mic inputs / 4 Hi-Z DI inputs and 4 additional jack inputs (for digital send only) this pre-amp has served me very well when recording artists in the studio, most notably on vocal sounds, drums and guitars. The digital out and variable sample rates are also a real bonus. A great product from Universal Audio!
