Good value.

Used for choir recordings, music, video production and voice over.

Quite a wide cardioid pick-up, I have found that microphone placement is not too critical (which is good). Sensitivity range copes with unexpected peaks. I feel confident that I will get reliable recordings.

I like the general build quality and that it will run off AA batteries. There are two plastic inserts which change the performance. It will be easy to lose them and they need to be pushed into place, which is not ideal (screw fit would have been better).

I have found them excellent for female voices, maybe less of a full rounded sound than with other microphones, but that is very subjective (definition: based on, or influenced by personal feelings, tastes, or opinions, not facts.).

It is not a highly directional spot microphone or a small, discrete microphone. I haven't dropped mine yet, but they do seem robust.

Easy to use and live with in general. If you want a good all round microphone, then this seems excellent and in addition good value.

Recommend.

A Great all rounder!

The C1000s is a super multifunctional mic with various applications. I have been using it in a live setting, micing an acoustic piano in a church & it sounds absolutely great. It's also great for recording instruments such as acoustic guitar and drums. One of the best small diaphragm mics (not much) money can buy.

Decent Condenser Mic

I found this mic to be pretty decent quality for the cost and in terms of sound. I was happy using this in a live situation.

Swiss Army knife of mics

I love this model of mic from AKG, it's so versatile. It's tough, easy to use, captures a great sound and you can use it for almost anything and it'll do a good to excellent job. I have a pair of AKG C1000S mics now, and I'd happily take another pair - I can't have enough of them around, and they're absolutely brilliant in a live environment too. For the price, I think they're pretty much unbeatable.

Captures natural sound well!

I use these for recording acoustic guitar, cajon, and amps (E-Guitar and Bass). It captures the natural sound pretty well. It's also durable with cool features like changing polaroid patterns and battery power.

Also very affordable for what it is capable of.

Great value for your money

The AKG C1000s MKIV are very versatile microphones. As overhead mics they to a very good job. Clear, warm and natural sound that highlights your cymbals is a must, and these mics do the job.

The switchable low cut feature helps you keep your sound clean in live situations where this can be a challenge.

They oparate on phantom power, and they may also be used with internal power/battery. This makes them very versatile as they also can be used in all kinds of recording, for example with a Zoom recorder or similar.

Best buy for really good sound in this prize range!

AKG C1000s MKIV

I bought this microphone to use as a second/third microphone while mostly recording acoustic guitars.

The mic is well built and has the nice feature of being able to use AA batteries.

The sound of this mic on its own is a bit bright for my liking, but when used with an acoustic with a built in pickup etc, it can get some very good results after a bit of adjustment.

Overall I think it is a pretty decent microphone for the money and would be more than adequate for somebody who wants to make a simple recording of an acoustic guitar.

I've also used it with other mics while recording a banjo and it was more than capable of getting a usable sound.

AKG C1000s MkIV

My first chance to try out the new version of this popular microphone. I have used all versions of this microphone since it's introduction, and this is the the best yet. Apart from the obvious colour change to the outer case the obvious operational differences from its predecessors are the change of battery type from the 9v PP3 to AA cells and the on/ off switch. I have always used these microphones in phantom power mode and have no experience of battery operation, but AA cells should provide a much longer operational period. The new large actuator for the on / off function now controls the microphone in phantom power mode as well as battery operation (this may catch older users out the first time). The switch is easier to use but is slightly confusing in its presentation. I just set it to ON and leave it there.

The un-obvious change is the provison of attenuator and bass-cut selector switches. These are hidden on the circuit board inside the metal wind shield. These greatly extend the versatility of the microphone.

I use the microphones in home studio and PA operation and I find them a good general purpose microphone with few vices. I use them for instrument microphones and they work well for strings, acoustic guitar, and also woodwind in the studio, without the hyper-cardioid adaptor. It is not advisable to use themicrophone for PA applications without this adpator fitted , as the pick up field is too wide and feedback issues may occur.

The negative side of the product is the carrying case. At times the C1000 has been supplied in either a plastic or metal box, with sutable foam inserts. My unit was supplied in the zipped carrying bag ( black now instead of blue). My experience of these bags is that the microphone is not well protected, the zip fails, and the presence and hyper- cardioid adpators are easily lost if not carried inside the microphone itself. ( I tend to fit the hyper-cardioid , and put the presence adaptor in the battery compartment as I don't use a battery)

A good microphone for overheads, acoustic guitar!

Very good packaging microphone! Very pleased that the package includes

a good handbag, visor and nozzle orientation. When I turned on the microphone I was surprised that for the money this microphone sounds just wonderful. Recording acoustic guitar surprised detailed sound. Recording sounds overheads at a high level.

The microphone has a rugged metal housing and a special mount for a secure fit on the rack. Use C1000 S gilded capsules and XLR-connectors make microphone resistant to moisture.

AKG C1000S Mk4

Another "Industry Standard" updated! The idea of using 2 AA cells instead of a 9V battery will probably increase battery life for those who need battery power. I thought I had got an older previous version at first because I twice failed to see the switches for pad and 80Hz cut. They are TINY! (Ultra miniature slide switches) mounted either side of the battery holder. I always want the 80Hz cut switched in by default. These things were once referred to as "Rumble Filters" in the days of vinyl record decks. They help to cut floor noise, and possibly bass drum through a wooden stage, but not a lot more.
