AKG K-271 MKII Reviews
A successful product that appeals to medium-sized and professional levels.
Great product for the price
I can't see no better deal for budget headphones besides AKG. I have 3 headphones of that brand and 2 of them for almost 10 years and they sound AMAZING! It'a a very well built product and comfortable like no other on it's price range. Totally recommend!
AKG K271 MKII headphones
I have 2 sets of these. Iâve dropped them many times over the years and both sets work like new. I can mix fast and easy fur to the frequency spread. Great earphones!
good ones!
Bought them several years ago and used actively ever since. Earmuffs needed stitching ones, but otherwise they stand the use very well.
Good purchase
I saw these as an upgrade from my K52. And they definitely are significant upgrade. I am delighted with how comfortable they are to wear.
great mixing and mastering headphones
if you are into music production you will like the product especially for the price i paid for at the time.
you can hear a lot of details
for listening to music it can be enjoyable but its not the loudest but loud enough,
but its main purpose is for mixing and mastering and it does it quite well
on the negative side, the quality isnt the best, although it is durable, one of the speaker pads fell with time after 1 year of usage, but nothing that affect the sound to be honest
Beware of the impedance
I have to be honest... I'm an AKG guy. I love their headphones since a decade or so. I did try Sennheiser, Audio Technica and other "classic" but always came back to AKG. It might be ear-dependent : I spent a lot of time listening to various style and mixing with the MKII series. Maybe my ears have got used to ? Plus, as a bass player, I don't expect bass / sub frequencies to be super pumped but "at the right place" and those headphones don't fail to kick them in the mix where they belong. It's all about BALANCE. Take that Bose and Beats.
The only reason I bought a new one is because of the the previous generation of "headset" (or headband, whatever you call it) : it used to be stiffer so it cracked here and there before splitting in two after 5 years of intensive use. The new headset is softer and looked like it'll last longer.
The only downfall : the output impedance doesn't match the industry standard. That's where Sennheiser models shine brighter. It's a bit frustrating because it sounds like AKG headphones fail to show their full potential.
So turn the knobs up to 11 and don't forget those precious Lemmy's words of wisdom : if it's too loud, you're too old !
Very good headphone for their money
I really loved these headphones cause i compared them with sony 7506 that i love and these sounded much more fuller with nice fast transients and little better isolation than sony
good sound and comfort
comfortable. fit tightly. clear sound. I am happy with everything
Great for beginners!
I bought them as I was needing something to monitor on and mix on. I know mixing on headphones is sketchy, but when you can't afford real monitors it is okay. This is my first pair of more expensive headphones and I am blown away. They work really well and give enough clarity to the sound. If you are looking for headphones for your beginner home studio, you won't make a wrong choice with these.
Good heaphones, if you have the right-sized ears
The K-271 MKIIs are a nice pair of cans, but only if you've got ears that fit inside the inner circumference of the pads. My ears are not round in shape, and are more suited to a headphone pad that's shaped like the Cloud II pads - elongated top-to-bottom.
So, a lovely pair of cans, nice and light, with good sound when driven from a decent DAC, but not comfortable for me to wear, since the over-ear design was on-ear.
Great sounding comfortable headphones.
I use these for video editing, playing guitar at home and for listening to music: they are fantastic for all of these. The sound quality is amazing for this price. Two sets of ear pads and cables are also a nice bonus.
Buy and pray
I bought these as studio monitors. I found that using these with glasses wasn't very comfortable. I had heard that these can have connection issues from time to time, but I wasn't expecting this.. The headphones would completely "blackout" on me and twiddling with the chord made them "come back" but I must have gotten a really poor batch.. But they do sound great when they do :)
Nothing do say. A real Workhorse
Comfortable and good sounding
I really like these headphones.
Some highlights:
- The sound is very detailed and clear. These are my first ~100€ headphones, so this is in comparison with ~30€ headphones :)
- Fit comfortably, can wear them for a few hours before getting tired;
- Block external noises very well;
- There's a feature that audio switches off when they are not on the head. I think it's cool;
- Pluggable cable is cool;
- Build quality is... okay. I mean, they are not made for rough conditions, some parts are pretty feeble. Treat 'em gently.
Satisfait !
Bon rapport qualité prix, il est robuste et remplit parfaitement sa fonction. Petit manque de basses que j'ai vite réglé avec un EQ. Après 6/7 heures d'utilisation, le casque commence à être inconfortable.
Very good "budget" headphones
A good headphone that delivers a clear sound and not to heavy on the output amp.
Have rather big cups over the ears, but still very comfortable.
Excellent headphones.
Great all-around headphones. Very comfortable for long sessions. Sound isolation is good. Self-adjusting headband is very convenient.
Nice Beatmaking and Recording
Used: Nice voice monitor and nice beat creation process.
Clarity: You can hear everything very well and pleasantly
pros & cons: No fatigue, light. But they creak when put on the head.
Comprehensibility: Price and quality (ratio), never met better.
Awesome sound at this price point
I am an owner of AKG K702 and previous owner of Shure SRH 840. Switched to AKG K702 ater my Shures broke and was blown away by the sound of K702s (very flat response, fantastic soundscape, fantastic soundscape, great for learning new stuff by ear). However, the K702s are open back, and I needed a closed-back alternative for several reasons. K271s were a good choice -- share the overall sound of the K702s, with a slightly stronger bass response, slightly harsher upper mids, slightly worse soundscape imho, but hey, for the price, they are excellent.
The build quality is OK, just feels somewhat cheap compared to the K702s -- the cables ale less flexible and the plastics and ear pads look cheap somehow. But they are very comfy to wear and lightweight, too -- unlike the SRH 840s, which very on the heavy side, and if I wore them for a longer time, my head was overheating. :) OTOH, the 840s were blocking the outside noise a tad better.
