Behringer ECM8000 Reviews
Great for the price
Although the mic is a bit funny in the high-mid range, it does the job perfectly well as a cheap and cheerful mic input for SMAART, I use mine with a presonus audiobox and trust it for time alignment and real time analysis on all my jobs
One of Behringers better products
This is a good measurement mic.
Used for room analysis rather than recording (though can come in handy as an extra drum-room mic). Great price to performance for it too as it is cheaper than most competitor mics while doing 96%+ of the job just as good as these can.
If designing a full acoustically treated commercial studio then maybe it would make some sense to look at more expensive alternatives. But for those of us without this luxury, this product does the job perfectly.
We bought this as a low budget EQing mic for balancing our studio monitors and room, which it seems to perform adequately at. It works great with our behringer FCA1616 as you'd expect it to.
It comes with a plastic carrying case which was a pleasant surprise, it's also reasonably solidly built so I'd have no hesitation at throwing it about while gigging. The mic muffler was however a bit iffy looking, the hole was off-center so it looks a bit odd, that's the only real complaint I have with the product though luckily I had a spare that was more fitting.
We don't use it for recording music, but as an omnidirectional EQing mic it'll get the job done. It's also pretty solidly built too.

ECM 8000
A tool that every PA company must have in their tool box. Really accurate measurements, very helpful graphics , works excellent with any audio software and gives really good quality on assessments.
Good for some applications
It's good enough for PA measurement I've found some tests online that show it really suits some other applications.
It's fine
I have had this mic for years and it still works great. If you need a measurement mic on a budget then this is a good choice. They may not all be super accurate but will give you a reasnoable measurement for your money.
All good
This microphone is very good. With his help we were able through special equipment (and pink noise) to adjust the EQ flat.
Excellent budget mic
Great value and performance from this mic, does its job and compares favorably to mics that are 10 times the cost. Recommended if you need to make some measurements on a tight budget.
ECM 8000
I first started to use this microphone as a test and measurement microphone in college. I used 8 of them to test the frequency responses in a theatre using a dodecahedron speaker array. I found them to be great at this job because of there omnidirectional characteristics. I was then told about actually using them as a microphone for recording acoustic instruments especially guitars and for vocals. I have used them number of times to record guitar and I am really pleased with the recordings. I have used it once or twice to record a vocal but I found this to be too noisy. The microphone has a great price though and represents good value for money.
Looks the part
Bought this as a "calibration" mic to go with my analyser/equaliser. It sounds fine but I wouldn't use it for a pick up mic because it doesn't look right, although I might in an emergency!
Great measurement mic
For the price this mic is fantastic and has never let me down in a sound meurment situation
ECM8000 Just the job.
I bought this for setting up my Ultracurve processor and it has been just what I needed.
Reference Mic
Best Value reference mic I could find.
I've also used this as a room mic to great effect.
