cheap and good

I needed something cheaper. I have reviewed tests on youtube and it was hard to decide what to buy. Finally, I decided to Behringer U-Phoria UMC22. For this money is quite solid product and the software works as befits.

Waste of Money

Never again will I buy behringer. All my friends warned me of it, but just don't buy it. It does not have a dedicated driver, instead relying on the asio4 universal driver which has many audio glitches and did not work properly with ableton at all. When I finally did get it to work the signal was very weak, very low end and the latency was atrocious. Even on the direct monitoring there was a degree of latency. I continued behringer, but they didn't reply to any of my emails. Awful product from an awful company. Only plus is that it feels really nice in the hand. Expensive paperweight ,I suppose.

Great product

This product really is great for the price. Compares favourably with Focusrite Scarlett, but at a fraction of the cost.

I purchased this for use away from my normal studio and for recording quick clips and working on ideas. Also as a way of monitoring my guitar alongside music e.g. youtube/audio to practice to.

The midas preamp is a nice addition - also present on my X18 mixer.

The one thing lacking is Midi ins/outs which would make it a great portable all rounder. Also it might be helpful to be able to change the mix of monitor/playback like on some competing products - but to have monitoring at all is a great feature.

Would buy again, and will be taking this internationally as it's highly portable and a great tool. Have also used Focusrite Scarlets, M-Audio Audiophile, Presonus AudioBox, and this sits right there with the competition at a much better price.

Does not work with ASIO!!!

I wanted a cheap sound card to use when transferring midi from my e-drums to pc. I was using the standard ASIO drivers (ASIO4ALL) with Cubase, and I was easily achieving latency of 3ms without. Notice: when I say "latency", I am referring only to the output latency. The total latency is about +5ms more, due to the midi transfer.

I needed a sound card because, without a dedicated sound card, I could only hear one sound source (Cubase) and it would be convenient to also have a media player running as well (so I do not do everything through Cubase).

Unfortunately this sound card does not have any drivers. It can only run through the windows audio driver, not even ASIO. This means that it doesn't work with Cubase well (not for me at least) and this also means that I did not get ANY LATENCY reduction. Nothing! Actually, I can get less latency using Cubase+ASIO than using Behringer+Windows!!!

Therefore, if latency matters for you, I do not recommend.

Impressive little box

I bought this sound card for home use. It is very impressive that it provides all my needs for record and teaching at home !

There sure is more expensive ones, but this takes care of everything if you're looking for a simple and do-everything card.

the only thing that I can mention, is it would've been cool if there was a off\on switch.

Definitely recommended !!!

Works great for a beginner.

I needed something cheap to record some demos and this works great.

Sure it doesn't have 90 inputs and 9 band eq for each channel but that's not really what this was made for.

I have a shure 57, 58 and bass amp di and I've no problems using this at all.

Superb for the price

I purchased this as I wanted a proper USB audio interface for home recording. I wasn't sure what to expect given the low price, but I am thrilled with the purchase,

The device itself feels like a quality product - it's reasonably weighty and feels like it will last. It has a nice metal finish and no sharp edges.

The sound quality is excellent and comes with 48v phantom power (needed for condenser mics), without the need for a separate power supply (this all works plugged in via USB).

As a bonus, you also get a free download of Traktion 5, a DAW software. I won't use this myself as I already have a DAW I use, however if you don't have a paid DAW yet, this is a nice bonus.

Considering the low price of the item, it's superb. I recommend this to anybody wanting a decent USB audio interface on a budget.

Small, Versitile, and worth Every Penny

By far one of the better audio interfaces I have owned. Bought as a replacement for an AKAI EIE PRO after major driver issues with OS X.

This is a powerful interface in a small package. It fits well within a 1U rack space, and has most major controls on the front, apart from the phantom power switch, which is located on the back - major drawback if it's an in-situe interface and you cant access the back easily.

Sound quality wise, it's exceptional - Ia pair of TRS outputs means it can be connected to practically anything; 3/4" pair to any unbalanced stereo pair/socket, or 3/4" TRS pair to XLR or balanced input, giving majer versitility. The MIDAS pre-amp works well with any microphone Ive used.

A single USB-B connector on the back will connect to any Workstation with a USB socket as it's a class-compliant device - no drivers required. An external power supply for Phantom power would have been nice, but that's personal preferance more than anything. The Kensington lock socket on the back is a great touch, making securing the interface a doddle.

Overall, a great interface for the price and would happily buy again!

Great interface especially for beginners.

I was very impressed with the performance & quality of this product. The design is accessible and all the features are useful & straightforward. The sound is brilliant for the price. I don't think you could get a better interface for the price. The product os very portable as well which is always a plus! I used it for both recording vocals, instruments & playing backing tracks live with a band. It works great with Garageband, Logic Pro & MainStage. It is a good choice for beginners to step into the world of audio interfaces.

As I needed an Audio Interface to use for live recording and rehearsing, my decision fell on the Behringer U-Phoria UMC22, which comes at quite an affordable price.

There are no fancy extras to be expected but the sound is alright for home productions and it connects to my computer very easily on Windows XP as well as on Windows 7.

I've been using it for home recording of guitar and voice so far and there's nothing bad to be said about it.

As far as live music making goes, I can't rate it as of yet but it should be helping lowering the latency at least in comparison to no interface at all! ;)
